Cumulus Media CEO Lew Dickey blames Rush for the stunning loss in revenue that is impacting other talk shows, “We’ve had a tough go of it the last year. The facts are indisputable regarding the impact certain things have had on ad dollars.” Those “certain things” are the successful advertiser boycotts against Rush Limbaugh, also known as Rush Limbaugh’s refusal to be civilized. Dickey made his point.
Cumulus released its quarterly earnings figures on Tuesday morning, reporting a 1.3 percent decline in revenues. Media Matters reported that Cumulus reported a $2.4 million dollar decline in revenue in a first quarter in their first quarter earnings call with investors. But it’s not just the latest quarter. Media Matters pointed out, “Dickey has reported millions in losses associated with Limbaugh in previous quarters as well.”
Things are so bad that Rush’s losses are taking down other conservative shows.
Media Matters explained, “Limbaugh has become so toxic that he’s hurting other conservative talk shows.” In March of this year, Media Matters explained that due to the structure of radio ad buys, the loss of revenue wiped out other national talk shows, resulting in forcing talk radio to move away from conservative talk:
At a Talkers forum last year, Norm Pattiz, CEO of Courtside Entertainment, summed up the destructive effect Limbaugh has had on the entire industry, noting that a “tremendous chunk of advertising revenue was wiped out in terms of support for national talk radio programs.” Pattiz added that “the movement in talk radio to some degree is moving away from conservative talk radio and into other genres.”
Another reminder about all of the reasons why Rush Limbaugh is so bad for our republic and society.
Tell me, Rushbo, how do you think that this will go over with Romney's Vilified 47% now?

There is a sad counterpoint to the apparent demise of Lushbo's show. Mike Malloy has lost most of his advertisers. Sacrificed on the alter of false equivalency. I'll be the first to admit that Malloy can be offensive. There are, however, some big differences:
- Mike Malloy is carried by 13 broadcast stations while Lushbo is carried by around 600.
- Malloy usually "punches up" at public figures while Lushbo "punched down" at Sandra Fluke.
- When Malloy does "punch down" it's directed at anonymous groups. He does insult groups like evangelical Christians but he doesn't, to the best of my knowledge, slander them or name those who have done no more or less than speak their mind.
I fear that Malloy won't be the only progressive radio host who will, possibly, lose his show because the corporate tools who spend ad dollars are ticked off because they were forced to cut Lushbo loose.
Such a whiney, nasisistic white boy.
WBC is being consistent, right?...consistently petulant, that is.

When I collect $120, I'll listen to Rush's show on the San Diego affiliate and pick a local advertiser and tell them how we feel about Rush, that supporting Rush will come back to bite them and that we won't patronize them if they do support Rush Limbaugh when I deliver a horse's ass trophy to them. I'll let all of my donors who give me an e-mail for contact information how it went, afterward.
The Truth About GOP Hero Ayn Rand (by ThinkProgressVideo)
Republicans are demanding that President Obama take the extension of renewable tax credits off the table in the deal they negotiated in return for bonus tax cuts for the rich, according to Politico.
But Democrats are fighting to allow an up or down vote on an extension of the Recovery Act green stimulus provisions that are about to expire. The extension, Baucus Amendment 4727, already got 53 votes on Saturday’s failed vote to extend Bush era tax cuts on just the first $250,000 of income, indicating that without a Republican filibuster, the measure would pass.
Two green stimulus provisions in particular, are endangered. (Ethanol extensions have Republican support.)
