Gender: it’s a complicated thing.
i don’t have a gender i’m just a mess™
This discussion is important – absolutely nonbinary people experience dysphoria. But I also want to say that:
a) dysphoria comes in many different forms (social, physical, emotional, mental),
b) you do not have to experience dysphoria to question your gender, feel your gender does not fit your assigned gender at birth, etc.
c) experiencing dysphoria - and/or degree of dysphoria - should not be used as a measuring stick for who does and does not deserve care (hint: everybody deserves care)
if youre nb, i hope you’re having a great day! and if not i hope tomorrow brings something extra awesome for you!!! 💛🐝💛
“they” is shorter than “he or she”
“they” is more inclusive than “he/she”
“themself” flows more naturally than “him or herself”
“they” is less clunky than “(s)he”
it’s time to replace the awkward “she or he”
REBLOG if you think identifying as nonbinary is valid for gender identity.
[Image Description: A half-pink/half-black color block with text that reads “destroy the gender binary and join the antifa movement”]
it costs exactly $0 and zero cents to use “they” instead of “he or she” when talking about a hypothetical person or someone whose pronouns you don’t know
build-a-bear but for genders
The lesbian experience was different enough from that of gay men that they got their own letter but yeah sure nonbinary and agender people’s experiences all fit under T alongside binary trans people’s experiences /s
I mean if they honestly think all nonbinary experiences are so similar that they can be shoved under the same letter its not even ignorance at that point, they’re in full blown denial
