This is not an exaggeration. Your download speed would slow down to the point where Windows would make this kind of absurd estimate, and you’d sigh and leave the room for a while (because you couldn’t use the computer while it was doing this for fear it would crash and lose all your progress) and then you’d come back in 40 minutes and maybe it would now say 52 years or maybe it would say 3 minutes, who knew, not Windows.
As usual, there’s an XKCD for that:
I love that this implies that the person with that sticker both
a) lives in a conservative part of America
b) knows that none of their local Trump supporters are going to look up the verse

I have three options in front of me: - deactivate the account completely, but I still need it to log in and check stuff every once in a while - use a software to delete everything, but I have to pay - manually delete every single post, which takes time
Guess what I am doing tonight.
The good thing is that I find easy and relaxing doing repetitive tasks, so this entire "click click click" is not a problem. Also I don't care about losing everything, I lost a bunch of my original stories years ago due to technology and that was way worse.
It wasn't letting me delete every tweet, at some point it stopped showing me tweets older than a few years, and I've been there since 2009 so I know there's a lot.
But I found this guy on reddit with a youtube tutorial and it's working and it's free and I'm gonna cry tears of joy!

Jasper being aloof.
Annnnd:
oh yeah, cats are super aloof
That cat is so aloof she is not merely aloof she is several loofs! /s
Awwww. Jasper’s aloofness is of a hilarious variety, while the second cat is just sweet.
My aloof babies:
Hana-Rawhiti Kareariki Maipi-Clarke, the youngest MP in Aotearoa, starts a haka to protest the first vote on a bill reinterpreting the 1840 Treaty of Waitangi
Goes insanely hard
To provide further context from what I understand the bill wanted to take the rights guaranteed to the Maori in said treaty and expand them to all New Zealand citizens. The issue with that is that it sort of defeats the point of the protections of the treaty.
The Treaty of Waitangi is not even that good of a treaty. But it is better than any treaty the Crown signed with indigenous peoples
And it absolutely was not meant to be
The treaty as written screws over Māori, and was written in Te Reo Māori and English with deliberately misleading translations to Te Reo Māori. I'm not an expert by any means, but basically the Te Reo Māori version has clauses that promise much more independence and sovereignty, while the English version does not
However
The English version promises them rights as Citizens
From what I remember from University 10+ years ago, this clause, this sentence, was added last minute by the writer of the treaty. Like, right before the big signing at Waitangi.
And the Crown was PISSED
Because now they had a legally binding document that promised, in their own language, to treat Māori with the same rights as they would English. Which was absolutely not the goal. The goal was to trick Māori into signing away their lands and that honestly still did happen. The treaty was not a good faith proposal by the Engliah.
But its still better than anyone else got, and it's better than no treaty. And because nowadays we can't just ignore the Te Reo Māori side of the treaty, the government's of the past few decades have been honouring Māori sovereignty, honouring their stewardship of the land, and undoing a lot of the bad faith "sales" or straight up stolen land.
Except our current fuck nuggets, who want to make Te Reo Māori an endangered language again, and steal back that land because they want to mine on it and sell it and they hate that Māori stewardship is so environmentally focused and not profit driven.
So, in a way, the current government is more true to the intentions of the Crown who initially came up with the treaty.
But since those guys were colonising bastards, I don't see "honouring" them as anything good.
Even with criticism of the treaty, without it, Māori would lose a lot of protections to their lands, their culture, their language, and as a country we would go backwards to a time when they were even more discriminated against

my bf has many interesting stories and observations from his new job as a 911 operator
my favorite is how meandering people are, even in the midst of a terrible emergency
they respond to “what is the emergency” with “well, the thing is, four weeks ago–”
and then he’s like “WHAT IS THE EMERGENCY RIGHT NOW”
and they’re like “so what happened this morning was, i said to my wife, i said–”
“WHAT IS CURRENTLY HAPPENING AT THIS MOMENT”
“oh i’m having a heart attack”
my second favorite is how specific he has to get sometimes
like, “what is your emergency?”
“i’m sitting in a pool of blood.”
“… is it… your blood?”
“yes i think so”
“do you know where it’s coming from?”
“probably the stab wound”
“have you been stabbed?”
“oh yah definitely”
In all fairness shock is a hell of a drug

Slightly related true story from my family:
“911, what’s your emergency?”
“My house is on fire, but it’s just one wall and I have a fire extinguisher, so I think I can put it out.”
“Sir, please get out of the house. The fire engines are on their way.”
“I will in a minute, but I really think I can–”
“SIR. PLEASE. LEAVE THE HOUSE.”
“Fine.” [beat] “Okay, from out here I can see that the whole roof is on fire.”
“Fine.” [beat] “Okay, from
out here I can see that the
whole roof is on fire.”

Interesting Mr beast opinion. Let's ask the blind people he cured what they think
i'd like to actually, considering many recipients of his philanthropy have spoken out and said he either scammed or mislead them and cut contact when they demanded an explanation! if he did actually pay for people's surgeries that's great--doesn't exactly make up for the fact that very little of his content is real including the money he donates (previous mr. beast employees and his already wealthy friends were made "winners" rather than random subscribers, to clarify) or the fact that he essentially medically tortured "contestants" (which lead to his full "canceling"). with each lawsuit comes a new surprise, right?
so it turns out I'M NEVER WRONG

i feel like being in a fandom long-term has a very specific repetitive cycle that kind of looks like this
The thing about “the LGBTQ community” is that it has always been an explicitly political coalition. We didn’t all just come together and hug one day.
As a cis bi man, I have nothing individually at stake in political attacks on lesbians and trans people (sometimes I don’t even have anything at stake with certain attacks on gay men!) But I treat an attack on any of those groups as an attack on myself, because basically anyone who wants to target those groups also wants to target my group. This has always been the case: there is no inherent reason why gay men would form a community with lesbians, or lesbians with bisexuals, or bisexuals with straight trans people. But historically we know that an attack on one of us inevitably precedes an attack on more of us, so there was a choice made to unify under a shared umbrella.
The right knows this, and in recent decades has been investing in highlighting wedge issues to divide the coalition and weaken its collective power even as it grows larger. Attacks on trans people from cis LGBQs need to be understood as a form of support for these efforts at disempowering all LGBTQ communities (ex. those TERF orgs that signed on to a legal briefing opposing a comprehensive anti-LGBTQ discrimination law because it included trans people)
