Jonsa | House Stark | The Pack Survives
(Currently obsessing over Chenford:

Alright, I just need to ramble my love and excitement over the Rookie coming back! I’ve been obsessing over Chenford (Tim x Lucy) for the past few months. (Even started up this side blog!)

I’m not normally a cop tv show watcher so it’s been a different experience to binge the Rookie but my god, do I just really love this slow burn, emotional and physical, in-depth and heartfelt characters and relationship of these two. And of course, the hotness of them both plays a role. How can it not?!

There are so many goddamn tropes. The height difference? Grumpy vs. Sunshine. Enemies to Friends to Lovers. Undercover/Fake Relationship. Denial of Feelings. Forbidden Romance. Soulmates. Being at your lowest point and being brought back up. Literal white knight and damsel in distress (both of them!) while simultaneously kickass power couple. Lucy is just so smoll. Tim conveys so much with his eyes and micro expressions.

I'm still new to the Rookie fandom but I’ve loved binging this series after season five was already out so I knew Chenford was endgame. It made it an easy and fun watch to see these characters progress individually and together. Binging made me fine with seeing them in other relationships, as they took what they needed, realized what they didn’t have, and grew closer together.

So many chances for these two to have gotten together earlier (and I love those fics) but I’m glad it was five seasons of a slow burn. The build up was so worth it. To see Lucy completely break down Tim’s walls and help him see the good in the world. To see Tim push Lucy to excel, and then to show absolute faith in her as he acknowledges her skills and talents. They hit all the love languages. Anyways rant over, Chenford just makes me happy. I can't wait to watch my first canon couple in real time (also slightly afraid haha).

Also this fandom is so talented. Just wow.

^^^ This is one of the reasons I fell in love with Sansa Stark. This girl, no more then a teenager. Stuck her neck out to save a strangers life. She risked her own personal safety telling Joffrey, a psychopath she knows has a short temper, “You can’t!” Not just speaking up against him, but telling him that he cannot do something.

And then comes up with an excuse as to why he can’t, right off the spot. She gets lucky, and Sandor Clegane backs the excuse up. But she doesn’t stop there. She continues to weave her manipulation of him after Joffrey announces he will have Ser Dontos killed the next day. She is clever enough to come up with a lie that will stroke Joffrey’s ego and convince him not to murder Ser Dontos.

Sansa didn’t have to do this. She already stopped them from killing Dontos right there. But she wanted to make sure he was safe even after that.

What’s even more amazing about this scene, it shows how Sansa is very brave in the earlier seasons. More then some fans like to acknowledge. She’s 14 here.

And yet we have a reminder that this young girl, was able to do something not a single grown man, out of 500 of them, were able to do. Nor any of the “greatest” Knights in the Seven Kingdoms were able to do either.

Sansa Stark didn’t just stand there and watch, she spoke up because it was wrong. Even if it was a dangerous thing to do. She had nearly the same obstacle against her, a deranged and insane King who was taking pleasure in this atrocity. One who could murder you at any time. And still, still she was brave.

And even after! Afterwards when Ser Dontos comes and gives her the poisoned necklace, he thanks her for this act. But she doesn’t even think twice about it! It wasn’t some big moment to her where she was so kind and merciful, this girl then tells him “Anyone would have done the same.” But we know that isn’t true! She doesn’t think this act is anything more then what’s extremely brave!

Not many would just speak up and try to help. It takes someone brave, it takes someone honorable, it takes someone who’s selfless, it takes someone caring. it took Sansa Stark.

“Never ask me about Jon,” he said, cold as ice. “He is my blood, and that is all you need to know.” Whoever Jon’s mother had been, Ned must have loved her fiercely, for nothing Catelyn said would persuade him to send the boy away.

Tbf, Ygritte should have been just a tiny bit suspicious when he didn’t immediatly scream “No!” to “Would you fuck your sister?”

Jon *sweating*: well if your sister is like REALLY radiant ……

Fandom Etiquette

Over the last several months, bad behavior has been on the rise. I’m going to mostly chalk it up to an influx of younger fans, or people that are new to fandom in general, but as a creator it can be incredibly frustrating when these types of behaviors persist. So as a general reminder:

Posting to Ao3

Ao3 is an archive. It was essentially created as an immense library of people’s fanworks. It is not a social media site. There is also no algorithm that curates which posts are shown to people. Any post created on Ao3 that is not a fanwork (or original work) that is posted is actually in direct violation of AO3’s terms of service. Your post will get reported and eventually your account may be suspended or terminated. These posts include:

  • Lists of prompts that you’d like to see written
  • A post asking for people to send you prompts or to tell you which prompt to write next
  • Posts asking for help looking for a specific fic or fic recommendations.

All of these posts belong on social media sites like tumblr or twitter. Both sites have strong fandom presences and you’re more likely to be helped. You can also try a dedicated discord.

Why does it matter? As mentioned, there’s no algorithm on Ao3. It’s equal opportunity in that the most recent posts appear at the top of the page. Inappropriate posts bury actual creator content and this frustrates writers. You may think it’s not a big deal because ‘it’s just one post’, but think about what would happen if everyone did it. There are more readers than there are writers on Ao3. If everyone made posts like this, the actual works that people devoted hours into creating would get lost, driving down engagement which also drives down motivation. Your flaunting the rules encourages others to do the same. And no, it doesn’t matter if you intend to ‘delete it later’.

Few things in my fandom life have ever been, or will ever be, as profoundly, fundamentally satisfying to me as that moment when Jon Snow, during one of the biggest, most important moments of his life, looked at Sansa for her reaction/approval to his being named King in the North.

In their last shared scene prior to this, Jon Snow celebrated the biggest military victory of his life by first making Sansa’s bed and decorating her room.

Who do you think prepared sansa’s chamber in Castle Black? This guy:

And gave her his spare clothes too!

Think about it… they surely had new clothes in Castle Black for new recruits but no, Jon wanted to see let her wear HIS old ones.

Anonymous asked:

When Sansa poses as Alayne, she experiences Bastardphoia firsthand. Not only is she being mocked and openly insulted, but she is also being confronted with the common stereotypes of bastards (wanton, lustful, inherently lesser). She also meets another bastard child of an important lord (literally the king's firstborn!!! The daughter of her fathers best friend) and befriends her! Genuinely likes her, cares about her, and worries for her! How people read all that and can say to themselves "well the idea that Sansa and Jon would reunite and then actually get along is preposterous, she is clearly a judgemental stuck up cow" I will never understand. The entire Alayns arc seems (to me) to lead to her coming to a greater understanding of the one bastard she knew before coming to the Vale.

Sansa really doesn't have that much to learn on that front. Her first scene contains a compassionate assessment of Jon's limitations in life and how they might affect his behavior:

Sansa sighed as she stitched. "Poor Jon," she said. "He gets jealous because he's a bastard." (AGOT, Arya I)

Sansa has one moment of genuinely unkind thoughts about one (1) peasant boy, when she's jealously angry at Arya for playing with him instead of spending time with herself.

But there really isn't any evidence that Sansa is "bastardphobic" (what a word) in a way that is different or worse from any of her siblings including Arya.

Being kind to Mya isn't new or learned behavior. It's Sansa's normal behavior, and any deeper understanding of the bastard experience she gains while posing as Alayne is only augmenting what she already knew and what she already understood and what she herself already experienced as a disgraced "traitor" hostage, socially ostracized, accused of tainted blood, denied a proper wardrobe and subject to verbal and sexual assault. And through all this we know Sansa can cling to her true identity, so to her it always remains an act, even an escape, unlike it is for Jon.

So, I dare say, it's mostly window dressing on an already inherent ability to understand Jon as a person.

And yet, it enables lovely lines like this:

I am a bastard too now, just like him. Oh, it would be so sweet, to see him once again. But of course that could never be. Alayne Stone had no brothers, baseborn or otherwise. (AFFC, Alayne II)

There’s something so poetically evil about Sansa embodying everything the realm wants a proper lady to be and then them all hating her for it. She cares about knights and songs, sewing and pretty dresses. And she’s scorned for it, naïve little girl who isn’t equipped to deal with the horrors of life. Because they don’t prepare women for the horrors of life despite the fact that they have to live in the same reality as all of the terrible deeds. Sansa embodies everything a young lady is supposed to and it ruins her life. The same way women are meant to bear heirs but they don’t tell them beforehand how it happens. It’s this sick fetishization of an ideal of women that they can never truly achieve because life isn’t ideal. Sansa is the picture of what they want women to be and it can never be enough still.
