Medusa going on about how Annabeth and Percy are choosing to be like their parents, by choosing to follow in their footsteps, Annabeth with her self-righteousness, and Percy in continuing another generation of men who don't stand up for the people they love.

Annabeth letting go of her idea that the quest is the most important thing regardless of what happens to everyone else and in the process letting go of her self-righteousness. Medusa's mistake is thinking that Annabeth, very much like her mother is incapable of seeing that she could be wrong.

Percy proving that he won't be bullied out of standing up for people he cares about by not letting Medusa turn Grover and Annabeth into stone. Her mistake is thinking that Sally is the only one he loves.

There have been hundreds of generations of demigods who went along with what the gods wanted them to do regardless of core beliefs or loved ones. Thousands of half-bloods manipulated into doing the gods' bidding because they didn't feel like they had another choice. So many kids are susceptible to the words of monsters because they feel trapped in a world that only the gods control, one of them almost destroys everyone because of it. The feeling of hopelessness prevails over generations.

Percy and Annabeth choose each other. Percy and Annabeth don't heed the monsters whispering in their ears.

Percy and Annabeth break the curse.

this last episode was magical, we get to see annabeth’s perception of percy which I think is so neat, cause in the book we just get percy’s pov and our boy is just struggling to survive, but from anyone else’s point I of view he’s powerful, he’s a hero. I loved the “you’re not just a kid” scene and the way they filmed the scene of percy turning alecto into stone because they really showcase how the way he views himself contrasts with the way other people see him. Especially with the echo of his prayer to his mom still in our minds, with the way he views his own worth compared to how he views the worth of the people he loves. He is so much more powerful than he realizes.
