So I don’t go here (I’m a cleo pope shipper and a jiara shipper) but I just wanna give my condolences to the jjpope community. This was really their season if we’re being honest like??? Pope ASSAULTING A COP for jj?? “Let me protect you for once”?? The neck kiss being in the montage??? JD really said “is anyone going to stare longingly him? No? Fine.” And did what had to be done.
So I know I said it before, but fun fact: everyone you love will die. Your father, your mother... and even your best friend. I like to think it's not so much how many years you get, but what you do with them. And JJ packed it in. A whole life in those 20 years. Adventure. Romance. Some tough things - that was part of it too. Sacrifice. And friendship. If JJ was the king of anything, he was the king of friendship. He held us all together. He was the best friend we ever had.
everything circles back around. it started with jj, kie, john b and pope and it ended with jj dead and kie crying out for her two best friends.
I know half of John b died with jj and he’ll never be able to get that back. They were each other’s day one. Best friends from the beginning, the closest thing either of them had to real family. I think that’s the worst part of this whole thing and I can’t stop thinking about it.

thinking about how john b and kiara have been there for each other at their lowest, how when jj and sarah are lost in the ocean kie’s the first one he reaches for, how when jj dies, john b’s the first one she yells for. their friendship is one of the most stable and consistent ones in the show and gives me so much comfort.

“let me protect you for once” everything’s coming full circle from season one. jj going to jail to protect pope turns into pope going to jail to protect jj turns into pope staying behind to make sure he gets away
Something I have really loved about this season is the development of Rafe and Sarah’s relationship. They are both people I really feel for because unlike everyone else they lost everything, their lives were completely destroyed. They went from having a pretty stable home environment with a dad who loved them and a stepmom who liked them and a little sister who annoyed them but they would go to war for to losing all of that. Their relationship really suffered and Rafe did terrible things, I would understand if Sarah didn’t want to forgive him, but I’m glad the writers are giving her an opportunity to because at the heart of everything I think they both really just wanted their family back, Sarah was clear sighted enough to see why that couldn’t happen while Rafe was willing to do anything to make it happen. I think their hug and their alliance is the first step for them, and I’m excited to see where it goes.
