“Tired of Michael already?” Lucifer asks, as though he doesn’t sound exhausted himself lying in his corner of the Cage.
“I’m giving you a chance to even the odds,” Adam says with very little fear as the devil eyes him, “since he’s told me so many embarrassing childhood stories about you.”
Lucifer laughs, and it hurts to listen to the same way the feedback from an explosion might, before he spreads a mangled wing to welcome Adam closer and begins, “Now, there was the time he fell headfirst into a black hole… or was it that I pushed him?”
