Now Prompting!

Welcome to the Harry Potter Queer Villains Fanworks Festival!

A chance to explore your darkside, lesser acknowledged characters, and many rarepairs in a queer positive setting!

This fanworks festival centres around the villains of Harry Potter with queer headcanons and prompts.

Have you ever wanted to explore the story of Herpo the Foul under a transmasc lens? No, well that's not all! What about tackling a fun, lesbian fic about Morgan(a) Le Fay? Still no. That's alright, let's find something else. I know! Have you considered the lore of Salazar Slytherin and Godric Gryffindor from the perspective of forbidden lovers? Not at all... Well I bet you could be now! But, I get it, you want something a bit more exciting. In that case, there's always exploring Grindelwald's life, love, and rise to power!

That should have your attention now. You can write or draw prompts like these and MORE in the Harry Potter Queer Villains Fanworks Festival!

Schedule

April 25th, 2023 - May 13th 2023: Prompting

May 6th, 2023 - May 27th, 2023: Claiming

June 3rd, 2023 - July 3rd, 2023: Posting

July 3rd, 2023 - July 10th, 2023: Overtime (reserved for anyone needing extensions)

July 11th, 2023: Author Reveals

Guidelines

▪ This is a 16+ festival, where only 18+ participants are allowed to post sexually explicit material. Anyone who lies about their age are subject to being banned from future festivals.

▪ Promotion of homophobia, transphobia, ableism, racism, sexism, anti-semitism, fatphobia, other anti-LGBTQIA+ rheteric, etc is NOT allowed. Keep in mind and be careful of condeming any characters because of gender, race, sex, orientation, culture, disability, weight, etc.

▪ Anyone can prompt or claim for this fest; you do not have to do one to do the other.

▪ Self Prompting will be allowed when the claiming time comes.

▪ This is an anonymous festival. Therefore, talk of claimed prompts isn't encouraged in public.

▪ All fanworks should focus on a "villainous" character from the Harry Potter series.

Characters should be one of the following to constitute as a villain:

- An antagonist of the protagonists in the main series or in a spin-off. This includes but isn't limited to Voldemort, his Death Eaters, Grindelwald, his Acolytes, etc.

- Be part of Wizarding history and have a legacy for being evil in someway. This includes but isn't limited to Herpo the Foul, Morgan(a) Le Fay, Salazar Slytherin, the Bloody Baron, etc.

Yes, this does mean that certain morally dubious characters such as Draco Malfoy, Severus Snape, and Regulus Black count as villains for the sake of this festival. For the sake of simplicity, however, Albus Dumbledore does not count as a villain, regardless of his many messy and shitty actions within the main series and spin-off, Fantastic Beasts. However, characters who don't count as a villain under these parameters can still be prevalent in your fanwork. In fact, they can even be the second half of the main ship, but the main character who does count as a villain should be the focus of any story or art.

• Author Expectations - Fanfictions should have a minimum of 2,000 words. Authors must have an archive of our own account to add their fic to the collection. Additionally, fics should be new and unique to the fest. No add ons to previously posted works in progress are allowed. Sequels and prequels may be allowed so long as they can be read without needing to have read the previous part(s) of the story. Fanfictions should be tagged and warned for accordingly. "Author chose not to use Archive Warnings" is not an acceptable warning. Fics should not be posted elsewhere (ie on Tumblr, Twitter, etc) until after reveals. Fanfictions should be edited for SPaG to the best of the author's abilities. If you're in need of a beta, you may join our discord and ask for help!

• Artwork at any stage that the artist is happy sharing it in is acceptable. Artists must either have an archive of our own account to add their art to the collection or reach out to the fest host so they can possibly send their art to the author of their prompt, in order to post the art along with the fic. Additionally, all art should be new and unique to the fest. Art should also not be posted elsewhere (ie on Tumblr, Twitter, etc) until after reveals.

Wireless Goes Cinema Info & Rules

There aren’t many rules. Who has time for rules and guidelines shortly before Christmas anyway?

Rules:

1. Works must be inspired by Christmastime, wintertime, or festive songs AND/OR Christmastime, wintertime, or festive movies 2. Fics must be beta read (if you don’t want to end up on the naughty list).

Guidelines:

  • This minifest is open to all ships in the Harry Potter fandom (gen, het, slash, femslash, all are welcome!)
  • Anyone is free to prompt any song or movie they want as long as it’s within the festive theme.
  • No claiming necessary! You can use a prompt from the list or self-prompt.
  • No minimum word count (drabbles and poetry are welcome!)
  • No art restrictions (except that we can’t share nsfw works on the fest tumblr. Crop them and add a link to the original! We’d love to share them like this!).
  • Podfics are welcome as long as the Author has given their okay for it or if there is a blanket permission in place.
  • Works should be posted to the fest collection on AO3; it’s open, unmoderated, non-anonymous and stress free!
  • You can post to the collection as many times as you like and collaborate if you wish.
  • Promote your work(s) on tumblr, and tag the tumblr fest account @wireless-festive-minifest! That way we can reblog your masterpieces on our tumblr and collect them in one place for everyone to flail incoherently.
  • Participants of other fests running at the same time are allowed to add their works to the Wireless goes Cinema collection if the theme fits and the mod(s) of the other fest agree.

Prompting:

Prompting opens on September 1st! Prompts will appear on the list as soon as someone submits one. If there aren’t any yet, go wild and send some prompts in yourself! If you are self-prompting you don’t need to add it to the prompting list - just get creating! Leave some prompts here! and Find the prompts here!

Claiming:

No need to claim! You can be inspired by a prompt from the list, or not. If you do choose a prompt from the list, please acknowledge it in your author/artist notes. Either way, you can get to work on your piece straight away.

Posting:

Self-Posting starts on December 1st and will end December 12th. The Twelve days of FEST-MAS! You can post your work at any time between those dates. Here’s our AO3 collection for 2022!

Hello, everyone!

Before you sign up, please remember that this fest deals with mature subjects and the participants are responsible for curating their own experiences within the fest. This applies to viewing the prompts list, which is uncensored.

Here’s a little F.A.Q. to help our claiming process!

  • First of all: CLAIMING is a first come, first serve process.
  • Also very important: THIS IS AN ANONYMOUSLY POSTING FEST, so we ask you not to divulge the prompt you are claiming.

To claim a prompt, you must fill out this Google Form:  https://forms.gle/5rgk9K9qpRHujcyU9

The information we ask is:

  • Your name or alias & pronouns;
  • An e-mail account for contact (we will send a confirmation that we have received your claiming through this address);
  • Your Discord ID, so we can have another way of contacting you during the fest. This isn’t mandatory, but appreciated. When you sign up, you also receive a link to our fest’s Discord server (restricted to creators), where you can discuss your art piece/fic, look for a beta reader, or just share your creating process.
  • Your AO3 account (you must use an AO3 account to enter the fest because the works will all be posted to a collection on the site. If you do not have an AO3 account, let us know on the “anything else” section of the form);
  • The number of the prompt you are claiming, or a brief description of your Self Prompt, if that’s the case. There are more instructions on the form.
  • What pairing do you intend to use on your prompt (if any);
  • Anything else you might want to add.

You will be able to claim ONE prompt, initially. If you’d like to create a second piece, you must finish and submit the first one before that.

Claimed (taken) prompts will look like this on the prompt list (red text + strike-through):

image

We will not list the claimers name on the prompt list.

Prompts list can be found here:

The mods have varying schedules, so please be patient with hearing back from us.  If you haven’t heard from us within 24 hours, assume something went wrong and contact a mod.

If you have additional questions, please message us here on Tumblr, or email it to [email protected]

LCDrarry 2021: Prompting is now open

This year’s LCDrarry is very 80s/90s as you can see in the fest banner. But that’s just the theme for the graphics.

You can prompt any movie, TV series or show, theatre play, podcast, audioplay/drama or even audiobook that you can think of. It doesn’t have to be from the 90s ;-)

Here is the prompting form:  https://airtable.com/shreAIqxeKxAnEooo

And here is the prompt list which will update automatically:  https://airtable.com/shr2muaBIgcBA1K9N/tbl02rzYH7rO3b9vR

Prompting ends on 20 January 2021.  Claiming starts on 23 January 2021. More about claiming soon. Signing up with your own prompt (”self-prompting”) is possible. If you want to “self-prompt”, please keep the prompt/your idea to yourself since LCDrarry is an anonymous fest. Thank you!

We are excited to announce that the HARRY/DRACO BIG BANG is returning in 2021.

In 2018 we ran the Harry/Draco Big Bang inspired by the first ever Big Bang in 2005 which had a 50,000 minimum word count and was also based around the Harry/Draco pairing. We had a fabulously successful round with 20 amazing fics illustrated by over 20 talented artists! You can find our 2018 masterlist here.

Although our plan to run this fest every other year got away from us and 2020 went to hell, we are thrilled to bring back the Harry/Draco Big Bang for 2021. The Harry/Draco Big Bang is a great way to celebrate Harry and Draco’s ever changing and intense relationship and encouraging the creation of EPIC works of fanfiction (50,000 words minimum) and fabulous art. Who doesn’t love to see Harry and Draco banging? :D

Your mods, @gracerene09 and @writcraft are delighted to welcome you back for another year, we’re super excited about this challenge and we hope you are too! Please check out the rules and timeline to get a sense for what’s involved and do consider joining us on 1 January 2021!

Trans Wizard Tournament FAQ

What is The Trans Wizard Tournament?

The Trans Wizard Tournament is a donation drive specifically for charities in support of trans and non-binary people, in the form of an online auction of fanworks. This is not to to be confused with commissions, as neither the organisers nor the creators will receive any money or other form of compensation. Sign Ups and Bidding will take place on Dreamwidth.

When can I sign up to offer fanworks? When can I start bidding? When will I receive my gift?

June 9th, 2020: Sign Ups Begin June 20th, 2020: Sign Ups Close June 22nd, 2020: Auction Begins June 30th, 2020: Auction Ends; Winning Bidders Contacted July 3rd, 2020: Proof of Donation Must Be Submitted July 31st, 2020: AO3 Collection of Works Unveiled. October 31st, 2020: All Works Must Be Completed Unless Otherwise Discussed With Bidder

Note, creators can begin creating work as soon as a winning bidder contacts them and details are worked out. Works can be submitted to winners at any point once completed, but works submitted to AO3 won’t be unveiled until the 31st. While you have until October 31st to complete works, it would be amazing if we could have a nice number of complete works to unveil on July 31st, as both Harry Potter and JK Rowling’s birthdays. Let’s try to make a statement!

What types of fanworks are included?

You can offer any type of digital fanwork. A brief list of examples as follows, but if there is something I’ve not mentioned, feel free to send me a PM: fic and podfic artwork, including gifsets, manips, and moodboards fanvids fan labor, (for example, beta-work, translations, brit-picking, or in specific for this project, many have expressed an interest in writing about trans issues, but fear for getting things wrong, as they are not trans themselves–this is a great opportunity to offer to help writers by offering to help them write authentically about the experience, and fix problematic issues that may arise in their fic.)

The point is to encompass as many different types of offerings as possible, to allow for the participation by those with a broad variety of talents. When signing up, please be as specific as possible when describing your particular offerings. (As an example, which characters you’re willing to work with, what type of fics you’ll write ie fluff/angst/rating level, what form of fanart, the specific fan labor, etc.)

We are organising a separate auction for donated physical fanworks. If you have something you would like to donate, please contact us about making a listing.

Can I offer more than one thing?

Yes. We are hesitant to put a limit on how many gifts you can offer, but would has that you please take time to really consider what you’ll be able to follow through on in a timely manner. Creating fanwork can be difficult especially given current events. Please don’t over extend yourself. I would suggest strictly limiting the length/complexity of the works offered. Also, please sign up for each different TYPE of work individually (that is if you’re offering three different types/lengths of fic, you can do so in one post; if you want to offer a fic, a moodboard, and a beta, you need to make 3 different posts).

Of course we want to generate as many donations as possible, but it doesn’t help to overpromise and then not be able to follow through. It can cause people to lose faith in fandom auctions, and be less likely to participate and donate in the future. Please only offer if you are willing to make this a priority, and only offer as much as you’re able. Offering a single item is not only allowed, it is a wonderful opportunity to give all your focus to a spectacular gift for a donor.

I have a WIP/planned project similar to the bidder’s prompt, can I use that to fulfill my auction?

This is something you need to discuss with your bidder. In general, anything that has already been partially published, either as a WIP or early draft, shouldn’t be used to fulfill a prompt. However some bidders might wish to see a continuation of a WIP or reworking of an older fanwork, in which case it would be fine. Opening dialogue with your bidder will help you understand exactly what they want, if what you’re working on fits their prompt, and if they’re okay with you using it. But please don’t come into this assuming it will be okay.

What causes/nonprofits are you supporting this year?

Complete list will be coming soon, and will include non-profits such as TransWomen of Color Collective, The Trevor Project, The Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund, Trans Lifelife, and more. I have already been informed of other organisations on the local level in different cities, states, and countries and am researching and compiling the list. Please let me know if there is an organisation you’d like to see included!

I’m offering fanwork but I would like my bidder to donate to a different organisation/I’m bidding but would prefer to donate to a different organisation.

We encourage bidders and creators to donate to charities/nonprofits from out list, but recognise there are many worthwhile organisations across the globe that simply haven’t gained attention for their work. Creators will have the opportunity of listing other nonprofits when signing up, and bidders can make suggestions for additions to the list. These suggestions must be made during the sign up period, so that we have time to verify that these are legitimate organisations. Bidders and creators should have a clear agreement over which organisation(s) they will be donating to before donation takes place. These charities must be for trans and/or non-binary communities.

Can’t you get in trouble legally for selling fanworks?

To be clear, we are not selling fanworks here. Donors will be making donations directly to the charities. At no point will the creators or the organisers be in possession of the money donated, nor receive any portion of it. Fanwork creators are showing their appreciation of these donations by creating gifts in recognition of the act.

How Can I Help? Besides from those donating fanworks, there’s a lot that needs to be done, from both an organisational standpoint, and through reaching out to fandom and signal-boosting. Please contact me on tumblr or dreamwidth, with offers of help.

About:

HP Suds Fest was born from your mods highkey and obsessive very relaxed and normal levels of enthusiasm for fics, fanart, and all manner of content that has our favourite ships getting wet, soapy, and clean!

We’re welcoming prompts (and self-prompts) for any HP ship, involving the theme of bathing. Do you want a sexy little shower scene, or dream of angsty bathing when one half of your ship is injured? Do you swoon over your ship sweating it out in a sauna, or sipping champagne in a hot tub?

Well, come one, come all - whether you’re getting them clean, or getting them dirty, this is the fest for you!

Rules:

HP Suds Fest is a multiship fest for the Harry Potter fandom. We welcome slash, femslash, poly ships, opposite sex pairings, gen works, and solo soapy action set in any era of the Harry Potter universe. All we ask is that you get them wet! Showers, baths, hair washing, sauna shenanigans, hot tub hotness—as long as you focus on some form of splashy, soapy goodness, then we’re happy! All types of fanworks are eligible—fic, art, podfics, graphics, or moodboards. Collaborations welcome!

All participants must be 18+, no exceptions. Please abide by your local laws when creating content.
Minimum word count is 1k, no maximum.
All fics must be betaread. Please contact the mods if you have any trouble finding a beta reader and we will do our best to help!
All creators must have an AO3 account.

This is not an anonymous fest, so chatting about your creation is encouraged! But we do ask that all fanwork is new, complete, and created especially for the fest (so no WIPs, sequels/prequels, or previously-published works).

Prompting:

Prompting opens 10th August 2020 at 9am GMT (what time is that for me?)

You may submit as many prompts as you want. You do not have to be creating a work for the fest in order to post a prompt. Anyone can prompt!

You can either prompt anonymously or include your name with the prompt.

Prompt format will be as follows:

Prompter name:
Prompt:
Preferred ship(s): (if applicable, or ANY. A maximum of three can be listed)
Special Requests: (this is where you list any extra prompt details, or squicks you may have. Please be aware that the person claiming your image prompt is not required to adhere to these)

Unless specified otherwise, we will assume all prompts are open to all ratings.

You can find the prompting form here. (The form will open at 9am GMT)

Prompts will be available to view here (from 7th September 2020)

Prompting closes 6th September 2020.

Self prompting is welcome, but you don’t need to send in a form for the 6th Sept - just put the details in to your submission email to us along with the header and we can add it to our records!

Claiming:

Claiming opens on 7th September 2020 at 9am GMT (what time is that for me?)

Prompts will be awarded on a first come first served basis.

Each prompt can be claimed once for fic and once for art.

Please choose your top three prompts when claiming, in order of preference (i.e. your top prompt as prompt choice 1, second choice as prompt choice 2, etc) as they will be awarded in this order. You are not required to fill out all three prompt choices.

You can only claim one prompt at a time. If you finish your prompt, you may claim an additional prompt. If you have finished your first prompt, and wish to claim another, please email your header to [email protected] and let us know you wish to claim an additional prompt, before submitting another claim form.

If you claim a prompt and subsequently feel unable to complete the work, please inform us as soon as possible so that we can free the prompt up for another writer/artist. We understand that life can get in the way! Unfortunately, however, in such circumstances, you won’t be eligible to claim a further prompt for 2020.

Collaborations are welcome! Please include details for all claimants in one claim form.

Please find the claiming form here. The form will become active when claiming opens 9am GMT(what time is that for me?) .

You will receive an email within 24 hours confirming your successful claim. Please respond to this email within 72 hours to confirm your participation in HP Suds Fest.

Creating:

For fics, there is a minimum word count of 1000 words and no maximum.

Submissions must be completed works, and all fics must be beta-read (if you are unable to find a beta please let us know.). All creations must be individual works, and cannot be part of a series, or a prequel/sequel to an existing work. All creations must be new and complete.

Fics and art should use the prompt as inspiration, but feel free to interpret it in your own creative way.

We encourage you to be inspired by the prompters’ additional details, but these are not required to be incorporated into the creation. You may also wish to take into consideration your prompter’s squicks when creating, but this is not a requirement — but we ask that you do not gift the creation to the prompter if you are not taking the squicks into consideration, and as always, be sure to tag your work appropriately.

Submitting:

Once you have completed your fic, it’s time to submit!

Submissions are due on 26th October 2020, but if you are finished before this date, you are welcome to submit then.

When your work is ready to be submitted, please fill out the following header and email it to [email protected]

Be sure to include all appropriate warnings, tag your work correctly.

Please contact the mods if you have any issues posting your work.

For general questions about the fest don’t hesitate to contact the mods. That’s what we are here for. But keep in mind that we’re operating in multiple time zones, and have to juggle our real lives with the lure of fandom.
