Trans people in texas please be careful right now. This is terrifying and not okay at all.

Please share so people are aware of this. I can't imagine how horrible it would be to show up to make this change, thinking you have legal court approval, and you get not only turned away but put on a register for it. Who knows how they'll try to use it against you in the future.

"This can't be legal" it doesn't matter. The system is so deeply transphobic that they can basically do whatever they want. What are you going to do, call the cops? They don't give a shit. Civil matter.

It could take a bunch of people suing until they get a judge that isn't absolute dogshit for this to change, and meanwhile it'll be months of even years of trans people in texas being unable to get ID that matches their gender, and being put on a register if they try. And that's the best case scenario. Who knows how much worse it could get.

They are doing this because the Texas Attorney General requested records of people who had their gender marker changed already. They couldn't give those records because they included not only trans people, but people who had it changed due to clerical errors. This is an attempt to create a database that does only include trans people. I'm sure I don't have to explain why that's terrifying.

I’ll say it again, please just grit your teeth and vote for Biden…

Are those "Biden protections" in the room with us at the moment? Go eat shit and die.

They are in fact in the room with us right now.

4/26/24 - Biden/Harris administration incorporates latest rule to the ACA that includes protections on the basis of sexual orientation and improves pre-existing protections for gender identity, mandating nondiscrimination in health care and insurance coverage for LGBTQ+ Americans.

4/19/24 - Biden/Harris administration finalized a Title IX rule that clarifies the scope of nondiscrimination protections on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity throughout educational activities and programs.

1/9/24 - Biden/Harris administration reverses Trump/Pence era “License to Discriminate” rules.

6/8/23 - Biden personally announces a series of initiatives that include efforts to protect queer and trans foster youth, improve access to mental health services for LGBTQ+ youth and address the rise in hate-fueled violence.

4/26/23 - Biden/Harris administration files lawsuit against the state of Tennessee, challenging the constitutionality of recently enacted legislation banning age-appropriate, medically necessary gender-affirming care for transgender youth.

2/7/23 - Biden uses his SotU address to encouraged Congress to pass the Equality Act “to ensure LGBTQ Americans, especially transgender young people, can live with safety and dignity.”

12/13/22 - Biden signs the Respect for Marriage Act, one of the biggest legislative wins in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality in over a decade, guaranteeing federal rights, benefits and obligations of marriages in the federal code for same-sex couples. The legislation also repealed the Defense of Marriage Act and affirmed public acts, records and proceedings should be recognized by all states.

8/4/22 - Biden/Harris administration declares Monkeypox a public emergency and wields federal power to ensure equal access in the distribution of vaccines and treatment.

3/21/22 - Biden/Harris administration takes steps on Transgender Day of Visibility to protect trans Americans that includes issuing passports with an “X” gender marker, streamlining identity verification during the travel experience and providing resources to transgender kids and their families.

And that’s just the last two years, without including any educational or research work done towards new policies or educating Americans about LGBTQ identities and politics, like displaying parts of the AIDS quilt in the White House or regularly acknowledging Pride, days of visibility, or other issues within the community.

You may be too young to remember this, but Biden was one of the first major federal-level politicians to support gay marriage, and he dragged Obama along kicking and screaming to the finish line. This administration is one of the strongest allies the LGBTQ community has had. Ever.

For the many many people who do not seem to understand how a government actually works, this doesn't mean Biden himself came up with these decisions, but they were approved and implemented by Congress because conservatives didn't have both the presidency and a majority. They desperately want the white house right now because it will allow them to make any policy changes they want uncontested.

Because I circulated a call to action about it here that got some traction: to those of you who contacted Maine legislators when it counted, thank you— it worked. Maine just passed sanctuary-state-level protection for trans rights.

It's a sanctuary bill that protects transgender and abortion providers and patients from out-of-state prosecution, into law.
The law is extensive. It asserts that gender-affirming care and reproductive health care are "legal rights" in Maine.
It states that criminal and civil actions against providers and patients are not enforceable if the provision or access to that care occurred within Maine’s borders, asserting jurisdiction over those matters.
It bars cooperation with out-of-state subpoenas and arrest warrants for gender-affirming care and abortion that happen within the state. It even protects doctors who provide gender-affirming care and abortion from certain adverse actions by medical boards, malpractice insurance, and other regulating entities, shielding those providers from attempts to economically harm them through out-of-state legislation designed to dissuade them from providing care.

(Paragraph breaks my own. This is a small quote from the article)

March 25, 2023 - TERF piece of shit Posie Parker had to cut her transphobic event in Auckland, New Zealand, short after a huge crowd of locals decided to run her fascist ass out of town, and she was covered in tomato sauce.

She was so shaken by the event she ended her entire transphobic tour of Australia and New Zealand, which so far had mostly proven popular with literal neo-nazis, and fled the country entirely. Good job, Auckland! [video]/[video]

Trans woman Monica Helms designed the Transgender Pride Flag in 1997. The light blue traditionally represents baby boys, and pink represents baby girls. The white in the middle signifies transitioning, or those who have an undefined gender. The way the flag is constructed - blue, pink, white, pink, blue - means that there's no way you can hang the flag "wrong" - Because there's no wrong way to be yourself.

Nebraska Democratic state Sen. Megan Hunt vowed to filibuster every bill for the rest of the legislative session after the Nebraska Legislature advanced a bill that would ban gender-affirming care for people under 19.
The legislation, sponsored by Republican state Sen. Kathleen Kauth, would ban minors from seeking gender confirmation surgery and hormone treatments — issues that could impact Hunt’s transgender son. She discussed her son and his testimony in committee on Wednesday and to the wider body the next day.
“My son is trans,” Hunt said of her 12-year-old child, who she says has been unable to attain gender-affirming care. “And this bill, colleagues, is such an affront to me personally and would violate my rights to parent my child in Nebraska.”
The bill is one of many anti-trans policies rolled out this year, according to Trans Legislation Tracker.
“We have made it clear that this is the line in the sand,” Hunt said to lawmakers on Thursday.
“People have said, ‘What if we go after your bills? What if we put a bunch of bills introduced by progressives up on the agenda? Are you going to filibuster those, too?’ Yes, because we’re not like you,” Hunt explained. “We have a principle and a value that actually matters that much to us that we’re willing to stand up for.”
Hunt was scolded over her stance by Republicans, who said her pushback set a bad precedent.
“You really don’t get it,” Hunt said to Republican state Sen. R. Brad von Gillern. “You’ve crossed a line and you’ve gone too far.”
“Don’t say hi to me in the hall, don’t ask me how my weekend was, don’t walk by my desk and ask me anything. Don’t send me Christmas cards ― take me off the list,” Hunt warned. “No one in the world holds a grudge like me, and no one in the world cares less about being petty than me. I don’t care. I don’t like you.”
“This hateful bill is not about policy. It is a basic human rights issue. The vote today will show us exactly which senators value the dignity, autonomy, and personhood of Nebraskans,” Hunt added on Twitter. “Do not cross this line. Do not violate our rights”
Hunt joins Democratic state Sen. Machaela Cavanaugh in her promise to filibuster the remainder of the legislature’s 90-day session, which ends on June 9.
“I will burn the session to the ground over this bill,” Cavanaugh warned.
