Former President Donald Trump is now selling Bibles as he runs to return to the White House.

Trump, who became the presumptive Republican nominee earlier this month, released a video on his Truth Social platform on Tuesday urging his supporters to buy the “God Bless the USA Bible," which is inspired by country singer Lee Greenwood's patriotic ballad. Trump takes the stage to the song at each of his rallies and has appeared with Greenwood at events.

“Happy Holy Week! Let’s Make America Pray Again. As we lead into Good Friday and Easter, I encourage you to get a copy of the God Bless the USA Bible,” Trump wrote, directing his supporters to a website selling the book for $59.99.

Republican lawmakers in Arizona are joining a chorus of conservatives across the country trying to ban basic income programs, which offer residents no-strings-attached payments.

Arizona state lawmakers introduced a bill that would ban any municipality or county from making payments to a person as part of a guaranteed basic income program. The law, House Bill 2375, describes a "guaranteed income program" as any program where someone receives payments that are "unearned" and can be used for any reason.

Numerous cities across the country are experimenting with guaranteed basic income programs either through local initiatives or nonprofits. The programs typically provide monthly payments of $500 to $1,000 to low-income residents or families to spend however they want.

In Denver, for example, a basic income program that gives some people up to $1,000 a month was recently extended after participants reported increased housing security. [...]

Iowa Republicans proposed a bill that would drastically limit what foods SNAP recipients can buy.

People wouldn't be able to buy grocery staples like white bread, American cheese, fresh meat, and more.

Critics argue the bill would further burden low-income people who are already food-insecure.Critics argue the bill would further burden low-income people who are already food-insecure.

"The Iowa Republicans say the money spent on SNAP could be used more efficiently elsewhere. "It's these entitlement programs," said Iowa House Speaker Pat Grassley, who is a co-sponsor on the bill, according to local outlet KCCI. "They're the ones that are growing within the budget and are putting pressure on us being able to fund other priorities." Insider

And people need to stop saying “Congress” can’t get anything done with guns. It’s Republicans! Just them! It’s because every last one of them values ownership of weapons over children’s lives! There will never be enough Republicans to vote for the most basic gun control laws to overcome the Senate filibuster. People need to hold these god damn pieces of shit accountable and vote them out

It’s a decade since Sandy Hook and Republicans have shrugged at every pile of bodies their horrendous policies have led to. They will never change. There will never be a come to Jesus moment for them. The only solution is to remove as many from Congress on the state and federal level as possible

"While school shootings remain rare, there were more in 2021 — 42 — than in any year since at least 1999. So far this year, there have been at least 24 acts of gun violence on K-12 campuses during the school day.

The count now stands at more than 311,000 children at 331 schools.

The Post has found that at least 185 children, educators and other people have been killed in assaults, and another 369 have been injured.

The most recent school shooting happened today."

ALSO! if you want to know why some of them think that this decision is okay and the so-called “reasoning” behind their votes, here is one guy in particular you can hate:

Some high-level ignorance in the notes, so:

1) lifesaving medicine should be free to all who need it

2) insulin is not expensive to produce

3) people with type 1 diabetes, a genetic autoimmune disorder and nothing to do with diet and/or lifestyle, need insulin daily to live, regardless of their diet and/or lifestyle.

People who have type 2 diabetes also need insulin to live but y’all hate anyone who you believe “deserves” an illness

Every person in a position of political power should have their daily needs matched to the lowest class of their country.

You make $6 an hour now, Mr. Congressman, and you’re not allowed to sit down or take breaks during your 7.5 hour daily shift. If you don’t like that, then you’re welcome to make some changes

It legitimately works. When politicians chose to live on the food stamp budget for their state they worked to increase the allotment after only a week of living that way.

And honestly? It should include having to spend time living on disability, navigating their district in a wheelchair, and taking public transit.

These people should have to live with their choices the same way they force us to live with them.

there is something inherently shitty that people in positions of power have to physically do the same things as people who are less fortunate than them to be able to empathise with them and make a change.
