Summary: Stephen Strange is a world-renowned neurosurgeon just living his life, saving lives and gaining accolades and trying to keep himself from falling into bed – again – with Christine in between attempts at relationships. He doesn’t like surprises or trouble and is deathly allergic to anything that may jeopardise his career, so he’s certainly not the type of Alpha to ruffle important feathers regarding issues he can’t explicitly control.
And then he comes home after a long ten-hour shift and there’s an intruder in his penthouse, inhaling Stephen’s coffee and decimating his electronics to build…something, battered and skittish and yet looking for revenge.

This fic is heavily inspired by the worldbuilding in the Johnlock fic The Gilded Cage by @the-pen-pot, with permission from the author, which remains the single best Omegaverse fic I’ve ever had the utmost pleasure to read. If you enjoy BBC Johnlock and/or Omegaverse fiction, you should absolutely read this because the worldbuilding is just…breath-takingly magnificent and it’s 326k of pure genius. Thank you very much for allowing me to play in your sandbox, darling, and for letting that fic grace the internet. Regarding any random differences in the world BeautifulFiction created, I’m chalking that up to cultural and slang differences between the UK and U.S.
This fic was originally supposed to be the next chapter of my Kinktober 2019 series, which is slotted for Omegaverse, but it…sort of ballooned out of control. This is damn near classic Big Bang word counts and by the time that I hit 15k in this particular fic without even ending the first scene, I realised that it would have to be its own fic.
The absolutely stunning art was done by wspace and holy fuck everyone, it’s amazing! Please, for the love of G-d, go shout love through keysmashes and internet shrieking because it is fucking gorgeous and I keep catching myself just staring at it. Thank you so much for your piece, wspace, and for being so flexible about what Stephen and Tony look like. I know AU fusions between 616 and MCU characters can be tricky but you nailed it so again, thank you very much.
