JKR is a terf and furthermore she’s cordially invited to eat my ass. For further clarification, see 1. JKR is following other terfs 2. Trans people have said JKR is clearly a terf multiple times and 3. JKR parrots terf talking points. Being a terf is an indefensible stance predicated on transphobia. The only reason she doesn’t self identify as a terf is because terfs think being called a trans exclusionary radical feminist is a “””slur””” She’s still a terf and still perpetuates harm against trans people whether she believes or says that’s her intention or not. Happy to explain how if this is confusing. Evergreen reminder that identifying JKR for what she is, a terf, and identifying terfs as violent to trans people by nature of their beliefs isn’t controversial and this blog is run by a trans person and is for trans people and trans allies! I will do this as many times as some of you fucking clowns make me do it!
Hello there!! What did you think/How did you feel about finding out that JKR is a TERF? I’m sorry if it’s abit personal, but it saddened me alot when I found out, but I’m glad I have fanfics to cheer me up. Thank you so much for your blog, it really means alot to be able to find good ones to read!
At that time, I was surprised and a bit disappointed, but not too much. Just like the time when I found out that Michael Jackson was a pedophile. It might be because I’m not that invested in the creators and more focused on their works? And talking about authors, I’ve always liked Suzanne Collins more.
About the topic, ‘Is JKR really a TERF?’ I’ve seen some controversy, I think you could ask for the opinions from someone more knowledgeable than me, aka @bounding-heart !
JKR is not a TERF and has made it clear she finds the term insulting. You all need to decide: is it an insult or is it a factual label? Because whenever a feminist mentions the fact that TERF is misogynistic hate speech–which it is–you (TRAs) come back with, ‘It’s just a label!’ JKR does not refer to herself as a TERF, so by your own linguistic standards, she’s not one. You can’t demand people respect your labels if you’re going to ignore other people’s.
She’s not transphobic either. If you think that speaking out in alarm at the way this specific, extremist brand of trans activism is harming women, and threatens to harm us even further if certain legislation is passed, then you need to self-examine and ask yourself why women’s rights and safety is so unimportant in your mind.
JKR laid out her reasons for being concerned about TRA ideology and aggressive misogyny very clearly and kindly in her essay. If you haven’t read her essay in good faith, giving her words and ideas a real chance, then anything you have to say on the subject is invalid. JKR laid out numerous facts complete with sources. She expressed her passionate support of trans people and her feelings of solidarity with trans women, as we’re all vulnerable to male violence.
Women have the right to determine and define our own identity. Fighting for these rights is not transphobic, nor is it incompatible with supporting trans people and fighting for trans people’s rights.
Disagreeing with TRA ideology and particularly TRA methods of enforcement of that ideology is not transphobic, it’s just common decency, ie, not being a terrible human being. If you support the TRAs, you are not the good guys. Your supporting a deeply misogynistic, homophobic movement that ignores the sex based oppression of women all over the world, in favour of a small handful of mostly white, mostly well-off Western folks who’ve been brainwashed into supporting a nonsensical academic philosophy of gender.
How could anyone who read her works be surprised that Jo Rowling would stand up and speak up for women’s rights? How?
WTF though; OP’s comparing being a ‘TERF’ (i.e. someone who acknowledges the reality of biological sex and understands its implications for women) to being a fucking PEDOPHILE?! As if they are EQUIVALENT?!
And the most OP can muster for finding out someone is a pedophile is 'disappointment’? For fuck’s sake, what a piece of shit.

Even though your insult is a little bit much, I deeply regret that thoughtless line about MJ. In my haste, I made such terrible word choice, it was my mistake and definitely not what I wanted to convey. When making the answer above, I purely thought about talented people with their extraordinary works and their impact on generations. Not that the MJ case was any less than horrifying.
But hey! This piece of shit knows that your definition of TERF is quite wrong.
J.K. Rowling wrote a controversial statement about transgender people in response to being called a 'TERF.' Here's what that means.
This video actually explains JKR's transphobia really well.
"Let’s be clear from the start. J. K. Rowling is transphobic. We can see this in the opinions that she has shared and in those she has publicly endorsed. But like so many TERFs, her transphobia often manifests in a form more insidious than blatant."
"Maybe it’s time to let go. Give the Harry Potter books over to those to whom they have meant, and continue to mean, so much. Allow Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood to end up together after all; allow Remus Lupin and Sirius Black to be lovers. Allow Wiccans into Hogwarts; allow Hermione to be black, yes, but trans too, if readers and imaginers believe it.
And allow the universe we really live in to change, too. Older people may want to declare their history books complete. They would do better to hand over their quills and give younger people the chance to add chapters of their own, while making space for those who’ve so far been excluded from the pages."
