Help 5-Year-Old Mariam and Her Family Escape the Horrors of War in Gaza 🍉🕊

Five-year-old Mariam,🕊with her bright pink backpack and tiny hands clutching a red rose, was ready to head to her KG2 class. It was a Saturday morning, October 7, and Mariam was filled with excitement and pride for reaching the next stage of her education. She wanted to surprise her kind teacher with that little rose. But in an instant, her world — our world — was torn apart.

Without warning, the skies filled with the sounds of explosions. The joyful morning turned into a nightmare of dust, fear, and destruction. Her preschool was shattered, her teacher’s life taken, and our neighborhood became a place of ruin. That single day marked the beginning of a relentless assault on Gaza — a place where childhood dreams, laughter, and innocence were erased in moments.

I am Khaled Ismail, a 41-year-old father, and my wife Rasha is 32. We live in Gaza with our three children. Our youngest, beautiful Mariam🕊, is just five years old. Our eldest, Walid, 12, is a boy full of dreams, always hoping to become an inventor. And in the middle, there’s Karim, our 10-year-old, whose laughter and jokes used to brighten our darkest days.

But the war has left scars that words cannot heal. The day of the first airstrike changed everything. Rubble covered their toys, and black dust filled the air. The sound of my children’s cries mixed with the chaos of families running for their lives. We left our home that day, desperately searching for safety. But every step, every shelter, brought only more destruction.

For a year now, we have been displaced, moving from one place to another, only to be met with more violence. Today, our home is nothing more than a frail tent. It offers no shelter from the burning heat of summer or the biting cold of winter. My children’s small bodies are battered by this reality — malnutrition, intestinal infections, heat stroke, and even hepatitis are constant threats.

I have nothing left to change our situation. My children have lost everything. I have lost everything. Their childhood is buried under the rubble, their dreams replaced by survival, and their once-joyful laughter now a faint memory.

I am humbly reaching out to you with a plea to help us escape this endless nightmare. Our dream is simple: to find safety, to give our children a chance at life, to give Mariam and her brothers a future. With every dollar, you offer a glimmer of hope, a step closer to a place where they can finally be children again.

Please, be the reason my family finds peace. Your support, even just one dollar, can make all the difference. Together, we can turn this story of despair into one of hope and resilience. Start today, and be a part of the miracle we need.

Help Mariam🕊. Help my family. Let us find a place to live with dignity and hope. Thank you for reading, and thank you for caring.

please, please keep supporting mohammed @mohdiwais and his family!

this campaign has been slowing significantly as of late, often going 12 or more hours without a single donation.

these funds are being shared by a large extended family of 27 total people, and must stretch just to cover basics like food & medical care. they haven't been able to access other sources of aid -- very little of which is getting into gaza right now -- and their livelihoods and homes have been destroyed for over a year now.

it's more important than ever that they have a steady flow of support, so please keep sharing their campaign & donating 💜

verified here / IWTV art print raffle for donors

10 USD = 110 SEK, & please keep in mind that gofundme's fees take 3 SEK off each donation.

i'd just like to share the update mohammed has posted on his gfm page for anyone who hasn't seen it:

Hello supportive friends ❤️ Today marks 405 days of the war on Gaza!
You have made a difference to me and my family improve our life , but also what we have collected until now is not enough
Life has become harsh and tough. Famine has become a ghost threatening the little kids in addition to the absence of health care! Life has literally become hell on earth. Don't spare the moment of helping the little kids survive and be safe. Your donation means much and draws smiles and happiness on their faces. . Time is ticking !!!
These are sensitive times of change and instability for me and my family, so your support of this story will give us the strength and stability to continue on our path and then rebuild our lives again , and live normally like all other humans.

i know how appreciative he is of everyone's support 💜 thank you for continuing to share & donate!

last donation was 4 hours ago!

One of the greatest kindnesses you can do for other adults is to add positive surprises to their lives. Think about it: When you're a kid, surprises are things like "Our teacher let us watch a movie today," "someone brought cupcakes for their birthday," "my parents got me a puppy," etc. But when you become an adult, surprises are things like your car breaking down, conflicts at work, and unexpected bills. No one plans fun surprises for adults, and you can do so much for morale if you do. Ex: One time I found a tiny unlocked door in one of my university's buildings. It was empty, but because I'm a whimsical bitch, I decided to put something fun behind it for the next person curious enough to open it. See below: The Egg Gnome.

The eggs were filled with tiny plastic plants (I tried candy first, but mice got into them, and that's not good for health and safety). Just for the hell of it, I decided to announce the hidden gnome and basket of eggs in the big college group chat, offering hints to which building it was in. People went BONKERS for it. It added fun to people's days as they inspected buildings they went into every day but didn't pay much attention to. They asked me for hints, tried to remember what building had those floor tiles, and proudly announced it in the chat when they had found eggs.

I did several things like that where I just hid things around the university and challenged people to find them, and it did so much for student morale. Some people messaged me to tell me my random antics were their only source of real fun on a daily basis. Adults are just big kids. We're supposed to play long into adulthood, and the games are just supposed to scale in complexity with age, but even simple things like a scavenger or prize hunt can make people so much happier. If you have any kind of morale-keeping duties or have the option to take them on at a school, workplace, etc., I highly recommend planning fun surprises for the people around you. Planned events are a lot of fun, but it's a totally different kind of fun to find out there's a scavenger hunt going on on a random Tuesday.

As I type this, my coworkers are exclaiming over an adult busy book one of them was given out of the blue - fun papers and paperclips and textured pages and even a few scent sachets! It's unique and beautiful and she loves it.

Earlier in the year, I bought a 12 pack of these for like 2 dollars.

I hid them all over the office - I thought they'd find one every few days but came in to find one of my coworkers actively and eagerly hunting them all down! She'd found all but two by the time I got there. She even helped hide some again so other coworkers could look for them when they came in. Everyone has their own chicken at their desks and at the employee computers. Some have been decorated (one has butterfly wings!) and for a while one was "sunbathing" with a little lifesaver floatie.

We need whimsy! We need enrichment! It doesn't have to be much to make people happy and it's always worth the time and effort to set it up.

Hi 👋 my 🍉 dear ⚘supporters ❤

I am a Palestinian youngman of 26 yrs , from the besieged Gaza, seeking to find safety and peace for my eight_member family 👪 that has been in very harsh and tough situations for almost a year. Since the outbreak of the war, we have been forcibly displaced to the south of Gaza, in the hope of finding a safer place, but the fact is that there is no safe place in Gaza. After we had lost all our possessions and belongings like our house and our livelihood_ source business were destroyed and damaged 💔 due to the annihilation of our neighborhood.

This photo was taken to the remains and ruins of our house. Nothing has been left for my family to live in nor a source to live on. Now we are living in small tents ⛺ in streets lacking all means of a house.

We re leading unbelievably difficult circumstances due to this injust war on Gaza. Also, We are painfully suffering from the bad living conditions because we lack all necessities and essentials of our daily life. Food, clean drink water, medicine 💊, health care , and other necessities have become scarce and unattainable and this adds to our sufferings and hardship.

a photo taken to show how harsh and tough our life is. hours of waiting in queue to get some gallons of water for the daily use. This is driving us crazy and insane .

What adds to our tragedy is that we wait long hours just to get a little water that can't meet our daily use.

It is also sad to have a sister suffering from chronic diseases such as bone atrophy , yet no health care exists.

so I am asking you my dear donors to help us get out of this painful tragedy and hardship. You can help my family by donating whatever you can or by sharing 🙏 my messages so that my goal can be reached sooner. Your help is essential for people in dire needs and awkward situations.

yours

PLEASE STOP AND READ! Help this Ghazzawi Family!

Hanan, her husband, and their three young children are fighting to survive the genocide in Ghazzah.

They endured the bombing of their home with themselves still inside, and afterwards were displaced to tent camps by the coast. Hanan's husband's clothing store, their main source of income, was destroyed as well during the bombardments. They are now living every day without the most basic amenities of living; their tent doesn't even protect them from the weather.

In order to help them survive, they need to raise $100,000 USD. So far, they've only raised $3,575; they've only had 2 donations in the last 6 hours.

Please help them in any way that you can. Donate if you're able and share their campaign. Every contribution helps.

Just watched the banned Moon Girl episode.

>the episode addresses the topic of trans kids in sports >the entire episode is about how bigots will always move the goalpost, and playing by their rules is pointless >the solution is not to play their game and break the rules >it also states that trans people should never feel like a burden >the character Brooklyn is explicitly stated to be trans >there is also an explicitly nonbinary character >multiple mentions of pride and depictions of pride flags, trans flags and progress flags

I'm not at all surprised this didn't get past the censors but I'm so mad that it didn't, because this could've been something really special, and the fact it was canned after being fully finished is downright painful. This episode was wonderful and I'm grateful to all the people who worked on it, and angry that their hard work was wasted. Disney did not deserve you.

i know adoption is hard and complicated and messy so maybe im missing something here and correct me if I'm out of line, but i never understood why it's common that sometimes a kid just isn't a "good fit" for a family and gets rehomed cuz like.

i mean. not to point out the obvious but that is not how you treat someone who you've decided is your child. when your biological child has issues with your other bio children and/or you/your partner, a common solution is not to go "ah well it's too hard. their personality is a bad fit. lets give them away" like. isn't that supposed to be your kid? once you bring a kid into your home aren't they like. your kid now.

went to google how common rehoming is and YAHOO ???? YAHOO BULLETIN BOARD??? HAVE SOME FUCKING RESPECT

also i didn't know this but apparently rehoming is specifically "the illegal transfer of physical custody of an adopted child from one family to another outside of legal proceedings." so already i didn't use the right word

also, why is the top response from 2013 google I KNOW you have more recent stories than that PLEASE get it together

ohhh its cuz the reuters article is like. influential and frequently referenced in the other articles about it. alright ok thats fine i guess

also: this subject matter is so depressing so im gonna leave it be cuz i didnt mean to start talking about human trafficking

Help My Friend Survive In A Refugee Camp

My friend Abdul is an African LGBTQ+ refugee who needs more help than I can give him to survive at his camp.

$6,000 seems like a lot, and it is, but he would really be grateful for anything. If you have $1 to spare he would absolutely appreciate that. this is not a circumstance where not reaching the goal means it was pointless. I don't get paid much because I'm a full time student but he always appreciates and needs what I can give him.

He needs everything you can spare.

If you can't use GoFundMe for any reason I also take donations through these other money transfer services.

Ko-fi: Nervesnebula, Cashapp: nervesN, and Venmo: @nervesnebbin

I'll try to update this post with how much I've raised through these apps at the end of every day. I'll also try to post updates I get from him tagged as #Abdulfund on this blog, if he has anything he wants to say. Thank you.

Honestly? My main piece of advice for writing well-rounded characters is to make them a little bit lame. No real living person is 100% cool and suave 100% of the time. Everyone's a little awkward sometimes, or gets too excited about something goofy, or has a silly fear, or laughs about stupid things. Being a bit of a loser is an incurable part of the human condition. Utilize that in your writing.

honestly I hate “can you pet the dog?!?” not for any of the common reasons but because it was initially interesting as a proposition of “can you interact with the world in a way that is not within the primary mechanical loop” and that very quickly fell away to being “well now any indie developer making a game has to have a pet the dog button or they’re going to get letters”

One of my dream projects has an NPC with a dog, and if you try to pet it, the owner tells you not to do that. If you try again, it bites you and you take damage. I want to do this entirely because I genuinely believe that this would make me feel way more grounded in the world than any “click button to see cute animation” would ever do, and also it would be really funny to have a game where people lose their runs because they tried to pet a dog they were told not to pet
