You know, to an extent, Dale is awful and obnoxious and insufferable… but the thing is that I love him anyways. Do I defend his awfulness? No .. do I still think he’s pookiebear?Absolutely
Something I enjoy a lot about Dale’s character is that he is so complex. It’s so obvious that he hurts so much. And Oz Perkins has confirmed this - Dale is so sad, he feels unwanted and unloved and like he’s a monster. He is probably so lonely, and it really genuinely seems to me like he has a capacity for kindness - despite the sinister nature of why he’s there, he humors Lee by letting her take his picture when he meets her for the first time, smiles at her, tries to be silly and make her laugh. He is genuinely probably trying to make that girl in the hardware store laugh, even though he comes off insanely creepy instead. He gets sooo sentimental towards Lee when he meets her again. He cries so easily. He has a gentle, artful hand. I really truly can see him being gentle and sweet and soft, given the chance.
But on the other hand… he is so nasty and awful. He joyfully taunts the investigators of his gruesome deeds. ‘Down Low, Too Slow.’ Sends obscene threatening messages in cutesty pink cards. Delights in the destruction he causes, even if it also kills him a little inside - he still gets off on it. He’s so damn proud of himself for what he does. So cocky. Scary and gross.
I love him for everything he is, he is so fun and interesting!
And also, he’s insanely attractive and pretty and sensual and ADORABLE to me. 🤭 I love u Dale you sick bastard
