i honestly think one of the reasons that i’ve fallen in love with good omens is because it’s so positive, and so different from the shitty directions that so many of my favorite stories have taken recently.

the mcu burned me (endgame); game of thrones burned me (season 8); star wars burned me (TLJ)…all of these fandoms have just been making me feel like shit instead of giving me joy, and then good omens came along. and it gave me a self-contained, well-written and character-driven story, with a fun plot, a happy ending, and a beautiful love story between the two main (and queer) characters.

and not only is the show amazing, but the fans are so supportive and happy as well! the good omens fandom is just out here here appreciating crowley and aziraphale’s relationship in whatever form it takes. you see them as ace? great! you see them as aro? great! you see them as sexual and romantic beings! great! the only prerequisite is that they love each other!

there’s also a remarkable lack of gatekeeping amongst good omens fans! i haven’t read the book (yet), but i’ve felt so welcomed by book & show fans - i don’t think i’ve seen a single gatekeeping, “you’re not a real fan if you haven’t read the book!” post.

meanwhile, the marvel fandom is torn about endgame, to the point where people who loved it are sending abusive and hateful messages to people who are critical of it, and TLJ is still one of the most divisive star wars movies ever. most people agree that season 8 of GOT sucked, but the relationship of the creators (D&D) to the fans has crumbled, and a lot of fans (including me) still feel like the creators spit in our faces with that finale.

tl;dr - good omens is a pure, well-written, and joyous show, and the fandom is one of the most positive that i’ve ever had the pleasure of being a part of, and it’s made me a lot happier than most other pieces of “geek media” nowadays. so, thank you to neil, terry, michael, david, and the entire good omens cast & crew, as well as all of the fans! you guys are awesome!

Bullying and harassing actors because of fictional stuff is stupid

Game of Thrones is not a documentary. If you can’t distinguish between fiction and reality, seek professional help.

This is what happens when you losers turn your fandom into your whole lives and become unable to separate fantasy from fiction

Kit Harrington recently checked himself into rehab because he’s been abusing alcohol because of the pressure put on him by fans of the show. This is deplorable and y'all need to chill with the whole celebrity equals public toy thing

Can you imagine spending ten years -ten years- of your life playing a character who is basically the first woman to be a protagonist fantasy ruler in a major cultural touchstone, who gets to be the hero, the good person who struggles with hard and bad choices? Can you imagine having that weight on you? Of holding that icon on your shoulders, with all it means to so many people? To pour your life into that? To experience what it means personally to your family? To your friends? To yourself?

And then having it torn out from under you by some jackasses who make your character into a monster for a Twist™.

GRRM better have changed his mind about writing that last goddamn book. I want to know how her story ACTUALLY ends.

It’s not that we were expecting a “happy” ending…

…we wanted one that made sense. That felt earned. That had some goddamn logic in it. That wasn’t sacrificing good writing and character arcs for “shock value” and “subverting expectations.”

FUCK THAT.

I guess Tolkien had it right with the notion of a eucatastrophe. Frodo doesn’t throw the Ring into the Fires of Mount Doom. But his compassion for Gollum ultimately saves everyone.

Frodo doesn’t have his happy ending in the Shire. He has to sail to Elvenhome to find peace and healing.

Lucifer Morningstar finally grows up. And he finally starts forgiving himself. And he gets to tell Chloe what he’s kept hidden all this time. She was his first, truest love. And he ends up back in Hell to keep her and everyone else he loves safe.

That’s how you write a satisfying ending. That’s where bittersweet makes sense.

Since when did tales that “signify nothing” and told by fucking idiots become so fashionable? Where is the hope? Where is the inspiration? Where is the goddamn point?

Fan fiction, time to fix things.

Tea of the Day

When you realize that the multiple endings of Peter Jackson’s rendition of Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings perfectly encapsulate the spirit of the books and are far more superior than the shitstorm that is the final season of Game of Thrones….

When Lucifer Netflix actually understands the very definition of a bittersweet satisfying ending…

General Armstrong in game of thrones

I was re watching the episodes with the Armstrong's and got to where the sister is 'northern wall of Briggs'. Guess what else has a northern wall? Game of thrones. Where are the fanfics of her bring the warden of the north in the game of thrones? There are very few that I have found and am wondering if this idea has been used and of not, why hasn't there been one? The Armstrong's could be one of those families like the stark's as they already have the pedigree for this. Just imagine the Armstrong family in there and facing white walkers or Alex being shiny. Where are these fanfics?
