CANON CONFIRMATION: JEDI YOUNGLINGS ARE HELLIONS WHO TRY STUFF LIKE “WILL THIS LIGHTSABER TOAST THIS BLOCK OF CHEESE?”
You guys are absolutely bringing the right energy to this post:
I’m 100% assuming there was melted/charred cheese ALL OVER the hallway outside the younglings’ refectory, that’s how Bolla rolled. And that none of them bothered to clean it up, they just saw the explosion of cheese melting into the carpet and hardening there like plastic and just BOLTED from the hallway.
Some more absolutely knockout tags:
And the one that had me in tears because it’s pretty much confirmed canon:
vs The Fallen Star:
vs Into the Dark:
vs Padawan where we have seen:
- Obi-Wan Kenobi as a youngling put glitterpaste in Bolla Ropal’s body wash because he thought it was funny (and it was)
- Yaddle referred to Obi-Wan, Prie, Siri, Bolla, etc., all as “a merry brand of brats” by muttering it under her breath during “a particularly raucous lesson”
- Obi-Wan Kenobi being like “yah but having a live bomb in your hand is good for negotiations” and isn’t even phased by his life being this weird
- Bolla Ropal putting a LIVE BABY DEMON SQUID in Obi-Wan’s soup
- Prie’s immediate reaction was to scoop up the poisonous demon squid and start cuddling it because it’s ADORABLE LOOK HOW CUTE IT IS
- Bolla Ropal tried to see if he could TOAST A BLOCK OF CHEESE with a LIGHTSABER
- Confirmation that dessert time at the initiate dining hall in the Temple is CHAOS
- Obi-Wan Kenobi thinks he won’t actually let a gobbler eat Bolla, just maybe scare him into thinking that he would, only a little
- Obi-Wan is on the planet for five minutes before he starts helping to troll the younglings like he’s been doing it all his life (BECAUSE HE HAS BEEN)
- Bolla Ropal says this random spoon is his favorite. All of his friends immediately start trying to steal it. It’s still sitting in Obi-Wan’s room years later because apparently he won.
- Obi-Wan thinks about how these kids he meets on Lenahra are just like the other Jedi younglings he knows because these kids are JUMPING AROUND WITH SUPERPOWERS and basically flinging themselves into the rafters and across the room, this is exactly the way Jedi younglings behave all the time.
Anyway, Jedi younglings are feral chaos gremlins who have psychic powers, the Jedi creche masters are the strongest people who have ever lived.
Absolutely started sobbing when the younglings chorused, “Hello, Master Obi-Wan,” and Obi-Wan said, “Hello,” and Yoda was so HAPPY with his FAMILY, with the CHILDREN of the ORDER who would be DEAD in like FIVE YEARS and he’d BLAME HIMSELF for the REST OF HIS LIFE
#i think a lot about the fact that because the jedi weren’t portrayed as having a traditional familial relationship#so many people assumed that there just wasn’t one at all#but it’s the moments like these that show that not only do families not need to be bound by blood to be considered family#but that they also don’t need to fit into the typical nuclear dynamic#anyways#crying about this scene now thanks red (via @heathenhouse)
You can’t DO THIS to me Hexe!! I can’t do it!!! The fact that the Jedi are so clearly family, so clearly share this love and easy affection and comfort with each other, even as they don’t fit the Western view of a traditional family…UGH…The fact that they all know one another and trust one another…it just reminds me of why I love the Jedi so MUCH! How can you watch this scene and not love them? How can anyone watch this scene and think of the Jedi as cold or emotionless? Can they not see the love?

I absolutely love the Jedi younglings and their relationships with the older members of the Jedi! Every time we see the younglings, they seem happy and upbeat, they’re cheerful and adorable and precious, while the adults watch on fondly. From the all the way back to Attack of the Clones, where we see Yoda being utterly delighted by the children he’s teaching, he’s practically gleefully selling Obi-Wan out in front of the kids, he’s using the moment to teach them and show that, even as children, their insights are valuable. Yoda says, very plainly in front of the kids, “Truly wonderful, the mind of a child is.” and shows them that their insight into how Kamino came to be missing from the Archives is valuable. Plus, those kids are SO STINKING CUTE.
Then, all throughout The Clone Wars, we see how pretty much every Jedi that Ahsoka interacts with, they’re ready to take her under their wing and teach her! Whether they’re her Master–
The Master of her Master, who is still helping them both–
The Jedi she has a special relationship with–
Whether it’s Yoda, who pretty much everyone seems to go to when they need advice–
Or simply a Jedi she happened to be around for the day–
Every single one of them took time to explain things to her, teach lessons to her, listen to her, guide her, help her. Hell, the Jedi even seem to like it when non-Jedi can help teach their children, to give them even more perspectives on things, like how Ahsoka works with Riyo Chuchi or Padme.
Because the Jedi love their children and Ahsoka is the character we see that demonstrated through, that all these different Jedi don’t have to be assigned to be her Master to want to help her, they’re just there to help her however they can! And that’s further reflected in the way Ahsoka herself then passes that same encouragement and affection on to the other younglings–in “The Gathering”, we get to see how adorable and happy and cheerful those younlings are once again!
Look at them! Those kids are such happy kids! And Ahsoka is so patient and kind with them– Like, when she’s showing them how they all have to work together to open the doors to the Temple on Ilum, she is so good with them and encourages them and is pleased with what they’ve accomplished:
You know that’s exactly how her trip to Ilum went as well. Further, you can see it in the way Yoda interacts with the younglings afterwards as well, he explains the lessons he was teaching them and you can just see those kids blossoming under the patience and kindness and care of Yoda’s praise for them:
One of the most telling things as well, is the vision that’s meant to tempt Yoda, to lull him into a fugue, it’s a peaceful, beautiful vision of what the Jedi Temple is at its most ideal– Where children are freely, happily running around and laughing, darting in and around the adults!
That is what Yoda views as the ideal version of everything, a Jedi Order that no longer has to fight a war–all with the Jedi we recognize. And not just Masters talking with Masters, but Knights and Padawans and Masters all mixing together. I LOVE ALL OF IT. THE JEDI YOUNGLINGS ARE SO FREAKING CUTE AND THEY’RE SUCH GOOD KIDS AND WE SEE SUCH JOY IN THEIR LIVES AND SO MANY BROTHERS AND SISTERS THERE TO TAKE CARE OF THEM AND WATCH OVER THEM AND GUIDE THEM. A Jedi is never alone because they were always connected through the Force, but also the Jedi Temple was full of people who were always ready to help take some time to work with a youngling–and, I mean, seriously, YOU CAN’T BLAME THEM BECAUSE LOOK HOW CUTE THESE PRECIOUS KIDDOS ARE:
I’D SPEND ALL MY TIME HELPING THE BBS TOO IF I WAS SURROUNDED BY THIS MANY PRECIOUS CHILDREN.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars | “The Gathering”
The trials are hard. Tests must be passed. But none is as important as The Gathering. It is then that a Jedi’s path will truly begin….

The Kyber 6 refers to the younglings that were introduced within The Clone Wars series during Season 5, Episode 6 – The Gathering.
As with all events that occur during The Clone Wars series, one thing that looms over all is the upcoming tragedy of Order 66. For the Kyber 6, there is no doubt they would be affected in a great way.
Though many presume that all the younglings were killed during the Order 66, there is still hope that things would have went down differently.
I wonder if Anakin and Ahsoka ever talked about
The fact that neither of them was chosen by their respective Master.
I mean they were both accepted, but Obi-Wan did not technically choose Anakin, (taking him to fulfill Qui-Gon’s request) and the Council just plopped Ahsoka into a war zone with Anakin like “here’s a young spirit to guide and teach in the middle of this of violent conflict lol you got this maybe”
I feel like after a really tough battle where Ahsoka kind of messed up she’d be sitting with all these doubts and eventually admit to Anakin that she doesn’t think he would’ve chosen her as a padawan.
And he’d admit that he thought the same about Obi-Wan for long time (but doesn’t quite admit that he still kind of does sometimes).
And after that Anakin goes out of his way to make sure that Ahsoka knows he would have chosen her in any circumstance, even if it’s a subtle dumb thing. When they’re paired with another master and padawan, Anakin always makes a teasing comment about the other padawan before punching her lightly on the arm and saying he’s glad he didn’t get stuck with someone like that. Or he eventually starts complimenting her reverse grip, saying its great that no other padawan could fight like that.
I just think Anakin would have been very cognizant of the fact that Ahsoka might think he wouldn’t want after all the doubts he had with Obi-wan
This could apply to obi wan. He wasn't at first accepted but then was accepted, but reluctantly. He aged out. So I think he understands, but he mostly likes and understands JEDI raised younglings, not anyone else.
Clone Commander CC-1010 – “ Fox ”
“ Can’t say I blame you, Commander Tano, but all the same, you’re under arrest. ”
You know what? I want a story where the younglings in the temple decide that these guards are THEIR clones. Ahsoka has the 501st and other padawans bring back stories of their clones, and some masters love their clones. The younglings cant do anything for the war effort but they want companions. And who else is available but these planet bound clones who feel different in the force and are awesome. (They totally have favs, but love them all bc they replicate the masters who love all their clones)
New thought! Remember slick, what if the clones guarded a clone prison and the younglings were all force guides them to these clones. They hang out with the disillusionized clones in jail along with the guards. When dogma happens, the Jedi obviously know what happens with the younglings so maybe obi wan slips to the younglings about what happened so they can give support.
