Allotments Mod - Download

I made this mod for @desiree-uk! It's being shared as per her suggestion. A big thank you to her and I hope you all enjoy!

Put your community (or residential) gardens to use! Create and rent allotments, push gardening interactions and make a nice profit while you're at it.

Place the allotment marker in a gated enclosure, set the sim who will be renting the allotment, and they'll take care of all the plants within their enclosure, plus partake in other specified duties.

Available Duties - Toggle on/off - [visibility subject to lot-type]

  • Water,
  • Weed,
  • Harvest,
  • Get Fertiliser**,
  • Fertilise Plants,
  • Dispose of Dead Plants,
  • Rake Leaves,
  • Burn or Dispose Leaves.

Gardening Push

As the allotment marker is a meta object, the sim renting the marker may autonomously be pushed to the lot to garden their allotment while inactive.

The marker is also a broadcaster object, so while within the vicinity, the renter will be pushed to complete any outstanding garden activities while in range.

You can also set up dedicated gardening days to push your sim to the lot and prevent your sim from coming to garden during certain seasons.

Payment

Set an owner for the allotment or attach a Bronzo* bank to the marker and make your sim pay to use the space! You can even set up automatic rent payments.

Harvesting

Link a harvest box to the allotment marker and all harvested produce will go straight into the box instead of clogging up your sims inventory. You can also sell produce straight from the box!

Requirements:

*My social clubs mod and **Ani's compost mod. Without these, the mod will at worst, crash, and at best, not work as intended.

Please read the included documentation for a more comprehensible feature breakdown.

Objects:

A collection file is included for easy access to the objects.

Otherwise: the harvest box is in storage/misc. for $190 and the allotment marker is in outdoors/lawn ornaments for $35.

Thanks:

  1. To @aroundthesims for generously allowing me to use her objects for my mods.
  2. To @anitmb for her composting mod which has helped to enhance this mod.
  3. To douglasveiga from MTS for the gardener service mod which I looked at when my interactions weren't working as intended.

Please enjoy!

If you would like to donate to say thanks, please feel free to do so at: my kofi :)

Day 2 Update anyone?

There are too many restrictions for gardening on community lots! But thanks to a great idea by @bietjie on the Creators Discord, there's now a way to get around it!

Plant pots!!

These are non-default clones of the EA plant pots that allow you to plant, water, weed and fertilise on community lots!

Simply place a pot on a community lot and you'll unlock the relevant gardening duties on the allotment marker!

They work like regular EA plant pots while on residential lots so don't worry about mixing and matching.

The documentation has been updated so for more information, check that out!

[This requires Supernatural but I believe you can still install the mod if you don't have that pack. Just don't bother to install the planter bowl packages in the RAR. If you don't have SN and run into problems, let me know!]

EDIT: Seems like it's not updated yet on simblr. So, use alternate link in the meanwhile.

Big Update! 🔼 We can plant seeds on community lots in plant pots and perform all gardening interactions to the plants! Thanks, Phoebe!

UPDATED 15th May 2024 -  BIG UPDATE! Phoebe has updated her mod to enable seeds to be planted on community lots in plant pots and all gardening interactions are enabled! Ignore any restrictions I stated below! 😄 Download The Allotment Mod update! ◀ Gardening in the Sims has always been one of my favourite things to do. I play in rotation and I have sims who live in an apartment or have tiny gardens and I always liked the idea of having proper allotments for them, a space away from home they can rent to plant their produce - and without any other sims having access to their patch! Of course, being able to run the allotment as a business would be an added bonus too!

I asked Phoebe if it was possible to make a mod like that, to have a garden object, a gnome or something placed on another lot that is assigned to a sim/household and it will 'call' that sim to garden on it but only in a small space fenced off from others.

She said it was possible and within hours - yes, hours! 😲 she rustled up a functioning mod! And it worked! 🥳 After testing and exchanging different ideas, Phoebe went above and beyond what she initially made and turned the mod into a whole gardening system! So not only can we have proper allotments on both community and residential lots, but a sim can hire a patch on another sims garden or a farmer could call on a resident sim to work on their garden if they're busy doing other things! (I always wanted this option rather than hiring an NPC gardener). It is such a fun, versatile mod, you can find different ways to use it!

So far: I've set up an allotment on a community lot in a neighbourhood for residents to use. The lot doesn't have to be owned by a sim but one can be assigned as a manager. Residents can hire a patch for a small fee and the money can either be paid to the manager as a stipend/wage or straight to a bank account or at the Town Hall or elsewhere using Phoebe's Bronzo Bank from her Social Club mod! I use that mod extensively so every sim and lot has an account!

Allotments don't need to be very big. One of my allotments is size 20x20 and has about 8 enclosures. You can plant quite a few seeds (or trees!) in a space of about 10 squares!

Within the gated enclosure, add the allotment marker, the gnome and set it up as you want. The gardener will turn up at their allotted time and harvest in their own patch and won't touch anyone else's! You can add a harvest box so all harvested produce will go into it instead of your sims inventory or their fridge. You can add Ani's compost bin for raked/burnt leaves in Autumn - you can't dispose of dead plants on a community lot (see my 'Extra Notes' below)

I also want a community garden (not owned by any sim) that has fenced off areas, with specific produce like tomatoes, lettuce, bell peppers etc for selected sims (volunteers maybe) to work on for the town. With this mod, a gnome is placed in each enclosure, assigned to selected sims. They don't pay any money because this lot doesn't have an owner. They plant and harvest their own enclosures and don't touch any other areas. There is an open area with some produce that is not available in the fenced off areas that all sim-residents can access if they want some free produce (user directed only). They don't go anywhere near the fenced off enclosures. Produce harvested from the enclosures can be sold to other sims for a small price. Monies will be sent to the Town Hall Benefit fund. (to be revised)

A private arrangement! I always wanted a sim to be able to have a resident gardener rather than the NPC worker you get with DouglasVeiga's Gardener Service mod on MTS. You can use this mod to accomplish this. A busy sim has a garden. Another resident sim is assigned as a gardener to manage the garden for him. The allotment object is on the lot and assigned to the gardener and he is called once a week to work. Because this mod is for a sim to rent garden space from an owner, you don't use it to pay the gardener, it's just to push the gardener to work. He can be paid via other means i.e through his bank account if he has one, it's more convenient. I've tested with Geoffrey Landgraab as the busy sim who has the garden, he's too busy with all his other enterprises to take care of it, so he hires the forever bone-idle Christopher Steel to manage his garden for him once a week 😄

He'll be paid via his bank account $100 a week 💰

image

As long as the allotment marker is on the Landgraab's lot, Christopher will be pushed every week to Geoffrey's house to garden without fail! Even when he's inactive! There he is on his way, seen from map view! 🧐

He goes straight to the garden to start (make sure he has access!) no stopping for a chat - it's like the NPC gardener, straight to work! Just what I wanted 👌🏾 If a harvest box is connected to the marker, all harvested produce will go to it instead of Christopher's inventory or the Landgraab's fridge.

A compost bin is placed for dead plants to be disposed (see 'Extra Notes' below for more details!) Whoops, I forgot to turn off 'Take Compost' for him because he will take the compost out of the bin when I don't want him to lol.

He can't use it anyway, it's putrid. 😄 Geoffrey seems pleased with his work.

The Allotments mod has been updated (15/05/24) You can now plant seeds in plant pots on community lots with no restrictions! Extra Notes:

  • Gardening on community lots have certain restrictions as we know. You can only harvest the plants once they're planted, you can't weed, water or fertilize them. Sims must have at least 1 skill level in gardening to be able to plant on a community lot. You can't just learn from scratch as you can at home! lol
  • If you have NRaas Tempest installed, you can plant a seed on a community lot by dragging the seed from the sims inventory to the ground, then click 'plant here' to plant it. You can't click the seed while it's in the sim's inventory to plant it.
  • Within the restrictions of a community lot garden, sims will happily harvest plants to their hearts content but they can't really do anything else to the plant. If you don't mind this, an allotment can still be fun to run, especially for the owner to earn a few coins! The Allotments mod has been updated (15/05/24) You can now plant seeds in plant pots on community lots with no restrictions!
  • For full, unrestrictive allotment fun, gardens work better as a residential lot!
  • Of course residential lots have their own quirks! A sim can't plant seeds on a residential lot that is not their own, unless you use Awesomemod, a core mod 😠
  • If you don't use Awesomemod, you could set the lot as community, make the sim plant their seeds and then change the lot back to residential in Edit Town but of course that would get tiring very quickly. If you don't mind doing that, it might be worth it to be able to do all the gardening tasks with your plants.🤷🏾‍♀️
  • Residential allotments won't be open to ALL sims in town to visit but the allotment renters/gardeners will be pushed to it. You can 'open' the lot by clicking on the lot and choosing NRaas>MC> Open to make sure sims have full access to the lot.
  • Residential allotments will have the mailbox and trash bin as usual 😄. You can hide them away somewhere, like a shed or behind a tree. If you want your gardeners to use their recycling bins properly to get fertilizer for their plants, I'd advise you lock away your trash bin or put a gate around it so sims won't default to them when disposing dead plants. If the trash bin isn't accessible, they'll drop the dead plant on the floor but it will turn into trash, then it can be picked up by the sim and put in the recycle bin and will be turned into compost/fertilizer. Raked and burnt leaves in Autumn will be made into compost too.
  • Whatever type of lot you use, allotments can be run as a fully fledged business, commercial or private! Residential allotments don't need to be owned by any sims as the markers themselves can be owned by one. But you could make a sim buy a lot, or rent it as an 'apartment lot' for a cheaper price and turn it into an allotment. Other sims can rent a patch from him so it will help pay his property tax/rent/bills.
  • If it's a residential allotment, no random sims other than allotment renters will be pushed to garden at the lot but if you want a gathering there, you can set up a gardeners club or an allotment members meeting where sims can regularly meet!

How will you use the Allotment mod? I'm really interested to see what ideas you come up with! See also: Allotments Mod - Download

Yoga Mod by Twinsimming & Alunn 🧘🏾‍♀️

This mod brings the yoga activity from The Sims 4: Spa Day to The Sims 3. Originally created by Alunn, I recently took over to add additional features and bring it to release!

This is a script mod that can be placed in your Packages folder. It was built and tested on 1.69 but should work fine on 1.67.

Overview

  • New Object: Yoga Mat
  • 4 New Interactions
  • 49 Converted Animations
  • 10 Yoga Poses

Objects

Entertainment -> Sporting Goods

The Perfect Yoga Mat: two channels | §130 |

Zen Again Yoga Mat: two channels | §125 |

| All TS4 presets included and base game compatible |

The yoga mat is draggable in Live Mode and can be placed in a sim’s personal or family inventory.

Yoga Mat

Using any of the yoga mat interactions will build the Athletic skill (except for Children), though some more slowly than others. As your sim’s skill increases, they will learn new yoga poses and improve on their execution of previous ones.

A sim’s Athletic skill also determines how long they can use the mat before becoming Fatigued* (anywhere from 4-7 hours):

  • Skill Level 1-3 (Poor/Novice): 4 hours
  • Skill Level 4-6 (Normal): 5 hours
  • Skill Level 7-9 (Skilled): 6 hours
  • Skill Level 10 (Expert): 7 hours

*Children will always get Fatigued after 3 hours.

Your sim won’t gain muscle, lose weight, or become more fit from using the mat, but they will fulfill any generic workout related wishes. And sims won’t lose Hygiene as fast as they would using other athletic equipment.

Sims aged Teen and up will switch into their athletic outfit, take off their shoes before using the mat, and put them back on when finished. Children will switch into their athletic outfit, but leave their shoes on.

Pregnant sims can use the mat in any trimester!

Interactions

Practice Yoga (Child and Up): Raises Athletic skill, gives sims the Tranquil moodlet after 2 hours, small boost to Fun need

Do Yoga Routine… (Teen and Up):

  • Stress Relieving (Level 3 Athletic Skill): Boosts Fun need, gives Tranquil moodlet, slowly raises Athletic skill, can be used even when sims have the Stressed moodlet
  • Mind Balancing (Level 5 Athletic Skill): Boosts Social need, gives Tranquil moodlet, small boost to Fun need, slowly raises Athletic skill
  • Energy Centering (Level 7 Athletic Skill): Boosts Energy need. gives Tranquil moodlet, small boost to Fun need, slowly raises Athletic skill

By default, yoga routines will only boost their specific needs up to half way, so don’t think your sims can forgo a good night’s rest or talking to a friend in favor of a tree pose or two!

Poses

  • Boat Pose
  • Bridge Pose
  • Downward Facing Dog
  • Half Moon Pose
  • Handstand
  • Lord of the Dance Pose
  • Side Plank Pose
  • Tree Pose
  • Triangle Pose
  • Warrior Pose

Autonomy

Sims with the Athletic skill, Martial Arts skill, Athletic trait, or the Disciplined trait will be drawn to use the mat autonomously. Sims will also be drawn to the mat when it is placed on a Gym, Dojo, or Chinese Garden lot type.

Tuning

All of the following values are tunable in the mod’s XML file:

  • Minutes to Add Fatigued Poor/Novice, Normal, Skilled, and Expert
  • Minutes to Add Fatigued Child
  • Minutes to Add Tranquil

Conflicts & Known Issues

- As this is a brand new scripted object, there shouldn’t be any conflicts.

- Teen sims sink a bit into the mat on certain animations because The Sims 4 doesn’t have shorter teens to convert animations from.

- If a laundry basket/washer/dryer has been placed on the lot, when sims take off their shoes to use the yoga mat, a pile of clothing will spawn.

Supported Languages

  • English
  • French (thank you MissPat!)
  • Brazilian Portuguese (thank you CupcakeLeaf and cabrera80!)  [Added 11/5/22]
  • European Portuguese (thank you David Manaia!)  [Added 11/8/22]

Yoga Mod Update (3/1/23) - New Features!

  • Sims can now Meditate! This interaction adds all of the functionality of NonaMena’s Meditate by Candlelight V4 mod to the yoga mat
  • New Meditative Zen custom moodlet
  • Practice Yoga interaction now has proper fatigue and skill stages like other workout equipment
  • All Yoga Routines now have fatigue and timed stages (2 and 4 hours)
  • Fixed an issue with the Fatigued and Tranquil moodlets timeouts and random popups

Yay, it’s finally here! Sim State Dude’s Open For Business for Sims 3 has arrived! I had the privilege of being part of a fun and great group of simmers who helped test this mod over at MissyHissy’s Discord and this mod is amazing, definetly a game changer! *Download and install Dude’s mod and enjoy!*

Sims State & Co mod notes:

Welcome to Sim State! A new mini expansion focused on adding ownable stores to the game in an open ended format. Create a store, hire employees, set objects for sale (without rugs!), restock objects, earn XP on sales to increase your rank and more! Check it out below! DISCLAIMER: The mod has been thoroughly tested by myself and other simmers but due to the nature of public release I cannot guarantee you won’t run into a new one! As a rule make backups to keep your saves safe, but you can shutdown a business by purchasing a computer and using the ‘Manage Business’ option on the lot, this should fix any Sim State specific issues for a buggy lot. Thanks! DONATIONS Completely optional but for anyone who enjoys the mod and would be interested in helping out financially you have my deepest appreciation! FEATURES -Ownable Stores Create and run stores across town, you can open a maximum of one business per lot, but there are no limits on the amount of stores you can run! Pay the $1000 set up fee and start today! -Hire & Manage Employees Use the scripted OFB register to manage your store and hire/fire employees! Call them into work and assign them roles, you can even switch households and work at a store run by another sim, create managers and complex economy systems around your town! Running an upmarket boutique? Customise your employee uniforms to match the style. -XP & Ranks Stores level up in rank similar to resorts. Using a custom UI system you can earn up to 5 stars which allow for more employees and higher prices! The ratio is 1:10 per Simolean earned! -Customer Satisfaction Points Inspired by a similar mechanic used in The Sims 2 your businesses earn points for each purchase. Use these points to purchase the $1000 cash reward or a security system! -Petty Theft Yup! Crime can be an issue for your stores, keep and eye out on sims eager for a freebie! If you see a notification popup and your stock diminishing you may be able to catch the thief quickly by clicking on them and using the 'Stop Thief’ interaction; this will call the police and have them arrested! Purchase the security system to automatically call them and halt any negative impact on your Customer Satisfaction Points! Keep an eye on those Kleptomaniacs and Evil sims… but anyone with the right motive could leave you missing a few items! -Mystery Shoppers Randomly sims that visit your store will have a chance of being a mystery shopper which will earn you a nice bonus of funds! Keep objects stocked up and prices fair to stand the best chance of high rewards. Can you get a perfect 100/100 score? -Frugal Sims… Not everyone will be happy with your inflated prices, keep some objects set to a low mark-up to ensure frugal sims don’t complain! -Power Surges Randomly during thunderstorms your sims have a chance of experience a power cut! Don’t worry though, the don’t last long… usually! -Custom UI’s & New In game Lessons A few visual improvements to the notification system give a fresh look to the game. You can also find 8 new lessons under the 'Sim State’ heading! Well after months of work and the great sims community I am pleased to finally release the mod! As mentioned above it may have a few outstanding bugs but hopefully nothing too serious, let me know how you find it in the comments! I would love to see what stores you run with Sim State so please post about the mod and your experiences on social media and YouTube! A few special thanks go out to Battery, GameFreak, Lyralei and Zoeee for all their help getting this project to release and helping me understand the Sims 3 API and learn C#! Finally I will be posting the source code and assets as open source in the near future, I am stepping back from active development myself but I know there’s a selection of active simmers interested in supporting the mod into the future. I would appreciate credit for the original idea and version but if you wish to take the mod/update it or release it in an updated form elsewhere I would be interested to see where it goes! Thank you to everyone who helped out and everyone who tries the mod, I really hope it adds something new and fun to The Sims 3 scene! I really believe that with the right motivation someone could create an entire new EP for TS3 it really is very moddable when you get stuck in! Enjoy! Regards, Sim State Dude (& Co)

Sim State Dude UPDATES: v1.1 - Active household members and employees should no longer autonomously purchase store objects!

Now landlords are responsible for broken items in their tenant’s homes! :)

pjsutton mod notes:

UPDATE on 8/13/16: NEW FEATURES!  Landlords must now fix broken objects!

  • Your Landlord sim will now be notified if an object breaks on any of your tenants' properties. Your occupant will withhold all rent payments until you fix the item
  • If playing as the occupant of a rented property, when an object breaks, you will withhold your rent payment from your landlord until the object is repaired
  • All sims in a Landlord's house will now automatically become Acquaintances of all occupants of a rented home, and vice versa, if they do not currently know each other.
  • Minor text fixes

INSTRUCTIONS: Playing as Occupant If you are playing as the occupant and an object breaks, you will receive a notification in red telling you that you will withhold your rent payment.  If your Sim is handy, they can repair the object themselves, or call the Repair Technician, like usual.  However, I like the aspect that the Landlord must pay for the repair cost.  So, a new immediate interaction has been added to any Sim who lives in the Landlord's household: Ask to Call Repair Technician.  When clicked, a Repair Technician will be dispatched to your Sim's home.  You will also receive a payment from the Landlord to cover the cost of the repair.   The Repair Tech will come to your home, fix the item like usual, and leave!  Your rent payments will then be reinstated. [Note: the "Ask to Call Repair Technician" option may appear more than once; it's a bug that I am working on, however, clicking either one will do the same thing.] Once the item is repaired, the interaction will disappear from the Landlord sims. NOTE: An item that is scratched or charred is considered to be "broken."  Obviously, these items cannot be repaired by the repair tech and you must choose "replace" to replace the item and make the message stop appearing (and reinstate the rent payment).  It's my opinion that if this is the case, the occupant should be responsible for the cost, anyway, so I did not include an option for the Landlord to cover this cost.  I might add this in the future. INSTRUCTIONS: Playing as Landlord If you are playing as the Landlord, a new notification will appear (in red) when an object breaks in an owned house. This will occur at 7 AM daily, and the message will re-appear at 9 AM (and whenever the active household changes).  You will be responsible for all repair costs. You have 3 options: (1) visit the lot and repair the object yourself, (2) call to dispatch a Repair Technician, or (3) replace the item and charge the occupant. (a 4th option, if the item is scratched/charred: replace and cover the cost, not charged to occupant).   Since you should be Acquaintances with all of your tenants, you can visit the lot, greet a sim, then go inside to find the broken item.   Click Repair to fix yourself, or choose the usual Call Repair Technician option to dispatch the tech.  They will arrive at the owned property to fix the item, and you (the landlord) will be charged the $50.  To replace the item, choose "Replace and Charge Occupant $$$$".  The item will be replaced on the spot, and the charge will be sent to the occupant. (Again, note, if the item is scratched or charred, you also have the option to replace it yourself and not charge the occupant.   It's up to you, really, depending on the situation).  This new interaction may also appear more than once, but they will each do the same thing and will disappear when the object is repaired.  (If you are lazy like me, instead of having your Sim visit the household, you can also use Master Controller > Open to open the house, then just click on the object like you normally would.) Once the item is fixed, you'll stop getting the notifications and any rent payments will be reinstated. *I really like this aspect of owning properties, and I hope you do too!
