A RAM tweak mod by Dandelion Sprout! Dandelion Sprout mod notes:

I noticed during various testing of system graphics options that gameplay and framerate slowdowns were somewhat proportional to how much RAM that Windows Control Panel showed that the game was using. In detailed worlds the game can hit 2.9 GB RAM use, at which point the game begins struggling more than usual with Error 12, astoundingly long loading/saving times, or simply crashing to desktop.

So I began pondering, how would it be possible to try to reduce the heavy taxing on the RAM allocations? I landed on trying to remove images (by creating 1x1px transparent images to override them) that would be unnecessary for core gameplay by expert Sims 3 players, mostly across 2 categories:

• Images used in the "Tutorials" menu, as they accounted for around 100 MB in total. • Beta build images and placeholder images for vanilla Sims 3 that were still present in the release version's "FullBuild0" assets. Accounts for around 25 MB.

So in theory this would reduce the RAM load by approximately 0.12 GB, whether it'd be to reduce the load outright, or so the game could use the safe-ish 2.8 GB it can use on other aspects of the game.

Will it have any effect on game performance at all? Probably not.

Is it worth trying? Probably.

I tried to pick images based on ones that I felt would be very unlikely to conflict with any other gamemods, though 100.0% guarantee on that is of course hard to give. The total tally ended up on 1,015 emptied images.

The gamemod was worked on for more than 1½ years, as I had to figure out exactly which images to handle and in which ways.

Tested with Patch 67 (along with NVIDIA Control Panel set to "Image Scaling: 100%", and a DX9-to-Vulkan .ini), almost certainly also works with Patch 69. Hard to tell if it would be needed for Patch 70. The gamemod should in theory be able to retroactively function with earlier patches, but anything before approximately Patch 36 would likely end up with strange results. Download from MTS!

A new mod by Dandelion Sprout! Dandelion Sprout mod notes:

Have your Sims ever dreamed of being a true music superstar, who wanted to excel in multiple music fields, but who felt discouraged from doing so due to severely conflicting concert times? This mod will give your Sim the chance to finally excel and become a double-duty or even triple-duty superstar! A Sim that few people may have noticed even at autograph signings, will now have the entire town want a piece of them, almost 24/7.

Want to combine the cinema Music career with Late Night band gigs? Now you can!

To combine any of the Showtime performer careers with Late Night band gigs? You're on.

Combining any of the above with countless musician skill opportunities, and even DJ gigs resulting from having practiced at DJ booths for days on end? Game on.

The mod primarily works by: • Massively increasing the chances for Late Night gigs to be offered by phone. • Drastically extending the timeslots where one 2-hour gig can be performed. • Significantly expanding the amount of lot assignments where Late Night gigs and to some extent Showtime gigs can take place. • Made Late Night gigs have less stringent requirements for how many other gigs a band must or may have performed before. • Any Late Night gigs that were previously once-in-a-lifetime only, can now be offered multiple times. • The timeslots of music-related skill opportunities across base game, Late Night, Showtime, and Into the Future, have been extended to varying extents, some by quite a lot. • Late Night gigs now take place the day after getting the phone call, instead of 2 days after. • Partially reduced some bugs that led Scuba Diving and Laser Rhythm-a-Con opportunities to be offered more often than they probably should.

The mod was a solid 4 months in the making (The full changelog alone took 3 weeks to write), but now it's here and ready for, literally speaking, showtime!

The mod is by far most useful for players with Late Night installed, and even more so if both Late Night and Showtime are installed, but the mod itself is technically base game compatible, and would in a "Base game only" setting still provide some improvements to Guitar skill opportunities and to the Music career opportunities. Read more and download!

An override mod by Dandelion Sprout!

Dandelion Sprout mod notes: Important: In order for travels to actually be free of charge when using both this mod and NRaas Traveler, which is how the mod is intended to be used, players must click on the City Hall > NRaas > Traveler... > Traveler World Cost Per Day, and change from 200 to 0. If this is not done, travels will cost §600 for 1 adult for 3 days. I had been using NRaas Traveler for quite some time now, and it frustrated me that I couldn't set the travel cost to §0 (instead of the usual §1,600), which strongly discouraged me from attempting to get any of my Sims to begin international amateur sports careers in stuff like American football, baseball, Seasons-type football, bowling, etc., as this would make Sims broke from traveling to away matches once or twice a week. I looked into NRaas Traveler's city hall options, and found that even then the travel costs couldn't be set lower than §1,000. So I looked into GameplayData.package once again, and discovered to my luck that only 1 file and 2 rows had to be changed to get it work. Whereas many of my other WIP mods have been in development for more than a month now, this one took only 15min to make and test (and a further 35min just to make a football field for the 2nd screenshot). I know that 2 screenshots may seem a bit little, but I feel those 2 explain the entire concept of the mod. ———Changes to TravelUtil_0x0bbc5eab60760d6b in GameplayData.package——— •kCostOfTravelingPerAge: "250, 500, 1000, 1000, 500" > "0, 0, 0, 0, 0" • kCostOfTravelingPerDay: "300, 100, 200" > "0, 0, 0" I found one previous mod that works somewhat similar to this one, Longer Vacations per Visa Level + Cost Changes, specifically its "Longer Vacations - Free.rar" version, though that mod contains various extra options and features that are not relevant for the quick 1- or 2-day trips that my mod is designed for, let alone for being used alongside NRaas Traveler to the best of my current knowledge. A British English game localisation mod by Dandelion Sprout! Dandelion Sprout! mod notes:

As story goes, I browsed through recent Sims 3 uploads on Mod The Sims, and noticed the pretty good stuff that is Fall ? Autumn (English) by swiffy. So I figured that if she had cracked the code to modify Maxis translation strings, then surely I could do the same, and to even do mass edits in Sublime Text and export it to a .package file.

How hard could it be? Turned out to be fairly difficult, but I eventually figured it out thanks to NRaas Packer and very immense RegEx skills. I worked on this over the course of 5 days, and am now ready to present to you all the initial late-beta version of the localisation.

As such, I officially present, a British English fan localisation of The Sims 3 and its expansion packs, the first such localisation to my current knowledge.

Around 2,700 strings of the circa 85,000 US Maxis strings have been changed, so it's not an overwhelming change compared to the official American English version.

From how I understand override mods, this mod can safely be considered base game compatible, yet also affects many expansion packs if they're installed.
