Ok gotta talk about it.

As a Jewish historian, I fucking hate Israel in ways most probably will never be able to comprehend. I'm going to try and explain it anyways. The central creation myth of Israel is that it is Jewish, and then consequently, that Israel is a part of Jewishness. Its easy to simply state this is false, but fully comprehending this and putting it into practice in thought and deed seems rare to me.

The evil at the heart of this violence predates the recent acceleration of genocide. Israel is a colony, and more than that, an antisemitic fraud itself. After WW2, when Israel was being founded, the Jews of Europe generally did not wave goodbye to their neighbors and head to the promised land. Many were expelled from their homes. Zionism itself, as an action, was a false choice at the time. A mere excuse to place an ally in the middle east, and an excuse to complete the expulsion and destruction of the European Jew. The Zionist Jew is more than complicit in this, they actively seek the destruction and assimilation of all other Jews.

Many fail to realize, and largely because of Israel, that Jews are not inherently white, Ashkenazi, European-descended people. Our faith and culture has an immense variety that is spread all across the globe. Jewishness, in population and volume of culture, exists more so outside of Israel than within it. Israel is for a very specific kind of Jew. The kind that lets Yiddish die, that attaches themselves to European things, that makes themselves and their practices as white as possible.

And they have the nerve, the fucking belligerent GALL, to frame themselves as the necessary saviors of our people. To the Zionist, questioning Israel is to question Jewishness itself. They bake adoration for the colonial machine into their very prayers, and push them on us even as children. To *not* oppress, to *not* kill, to *not* genocide, is to invite death. This is the core of fascistic thought, of course. "Kill them before they kill us." And they KNOW this too, they really do. The truth of that irony does not matter, because as is true for all fascists, the truth itself does not matter to them. They wanted this, they wanted this even before the British saw it in their best interest to give them the land. Any excuse to RETVRN, as the neo-nazis say of Rome, or the German Empire, or whatever the fuck stupid country they want to poorly animate the corpse of. Some select Zionists even *sided with the fucking Nazis* in agreement they should abandon Europe to colonize Palestine. (Haavara Agreement)

My people have proved time and time and time again you don't need a nation state to have an enduring culture. We have protected ourselves for thousands of years without the help of these spiteful, doom-saying maniacs. I was going to post something like this on Passover, but that would be hypocritical. The state of Israel doesn't actually have shit to do with Jewishness. שְׁמַע יִשְׂרָאֵל יְה Vi tsu derleb ikh im shoyn tsu bagrobn. [my best translation] Hear Israel (beginning of a prayer in Hebrew) I should outlive him long enough to bury him. (an old Yiddish curse)

Free Palestine. Donate what you can, they need it right now.

I saw a tweet that said something like "for the first time in 6 months Israeli warplanes had left Gaza skies" and I just want to say that it isn't only untrue, it has no reason to be true in the first place.

As a matter of fact, various areas have been struck in Gaza last night including residential areas in Nuseirat where apartment buildings have been flattened and a number of causalities have been reported to Alawda hospital.

Don't aid in diverting attention away from Gaza by sharing these baseless tweets. We already see how people apparently are only capable of focusing on one event at a time.

Gaza is still under Israeli attack.

Joe Biden has called for an “immediate ceasefire” in Gaza, telling Benjamin Netanyahu that future US support for Israel will depend on it taking concrete action to protect civilians and aid workers. As the two leaders held their first phone call since Israeli airstrikes killed seven employees of the international food charity World Central Kitchen (WCK), Biden issued the strongest US rebuke toward Israel since the start of the conflict. In Thursday’s call, which lasted less than 30 minutes, the US president “made clear the need for Israel to announce and implement a series of specific, concrete and measurable steps to address civilian harm, humanitarian suffering and the safety of aid workers”, the White House said in a statement.

The British-Australian star, Miriam Margolyes, best known for her role as Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter film series, was on live TV when she stated, 'I’m on the side of the Palestinians. I have to tell you that now.' She continued, 'Because being Jewish, we always have to state where we stand. Are we for Israel or against Israel? I'm only for humanity. Ceasefire. Ceasefire.

Are you kidding me? Regardless of what he said, you are trying to claim that Hebrew is stolen from ….the “Palestinians”? Really?

The “Palestinians” speak Arabic. It comes from Arabia. It doesn’t even have the sound in its alphabet to correctly say the word “Palestine” instead having to substitute the “P” sound with an “F” sound.

The MK in this video is speaking Hebrew. It’s a language that originated in what is today Israel. We have Hebrew going back moe than a millennia. Modern day Jews and Hebrew-speakers can read ancient Hebrew texts because the language has remained fairly stable for the last couple of millennia with some additional words being added in the last two hundred years. Look at the Dead Sea Scrolls. They’re not written in fucking Arabic. They’re written in Hebrew. You can go to the Israel Museum in Jerusalem and read the fragments that are on display.

Now, it is true that both Arabic and Hebrew are in the same Semitic language family. However, they are different branches that have a common root. One was not “reconstructed out of” the other or stolen out of “Palestinian” culture. Prior to the Hebrew recognizable to modern Hebrew speakers, there was earlier Paleo-Hebrew that it was derived from. That existed until about 600 BCE… or a thousand years before Arabic was spoken in Eretz Yisrael. The liturgy of the Second Temple Period, which began around 516 BCE, was conducted in Hebrew.

Paleo-Hebrew dates back to the 10th century BCE.

The earliest Hebrew inscriptions date back to 1200 BCE, or about 3200 years ago. There is also the Gezer calendar. This dates back to 10th century BCE. Ultimately, the language traces back to the Northwest Semitic language group. Arabic is a branch off the Central Semitic language group. The oldest example of Arabic in writing dates back to the 4th century CE. The earliest evidence of an Arabic language has been dated to 8th century BCE. That would be after the evidence of Paleo-Hebrew from which modern/Biblical Hebrew evolved. But nowhere is there evidence of a distinct, ancient dialect of “Palestinian Arabic”.

There is no “Palestinian” culture that the Jews or Israelis could have stolen from because the culture of what is claimed to be “Palestine” is either Syrian or Egyptian. For the Arabs living in what was the north part of the British Mandate for Palestine, they tended to speak more of the Syrian dialect of Arabic (usually called Syrian Arabic) and have customs more associated with what is today modern Syria. Likewise, the those in the southern part of the Mandate had customs that they brought with them when Egypt invaded what was then the Syria Vilayet, Beirut Vilayet, and the Mutasarrifate of Jerusalem. There was no place called “Palestine” or “Felastin” (as Arab speakers would pronounce it), in the Ottoman Empire.

The Arabs who lived in the Ottoman Empire, if they identified as anything other than Arab would have called themselves Syrians. But really, the idea that there was a separate “Palestinian” national group would have been an anathema to the Arab Muslims living in Ottoman vilayets of Syria or Beirut or the British Mandate. Why? Because they identified as Arabs not as some other sub-group. In fact, the Arab leaders during the Mandate felt that the area should be called “South Syria”. “Felastin” was used only because that was the name the Mandate (i.e. the colonial occupation authority of the British Empire) used.

Stop trying to erase Jewish history because you have none of your own past the mid-1960s. Its dishonest. Its wrong. Its ahistorical.

there is whole lot of text up there, none of which address what is actually being said

The revival of the Hebrew language took place in Europe and Palestine toward the end of the 19th century and into the 20th century, through which the language's usage changed from purely the sacred language of Judaism to a spoken and written language used for daily life in Israel. The process began as Jews from diverse regions started arriving and establishing themselves alongside the pre-existing Jewish community in the region of Palestine in the first half of the twentieth century. Arabic-speaking Jews in Palestine and the linguistically diverse newly arrived Jews switched to Hebrew as a lingua franca,[1][2] the historical linguistic common denominator of all the Jewish groups. At the same time, a parallel development in Europe changed Hebrew from primarily a sacred liturgical language into a literary language,[3] which played a key role in the development of nationalist educational programs.[4] Modern Hebrew was one of three official languages of Mandatory Palestine, and after the Israeli Declaration of Independence in 1948, one of two official languages of Israel, along with Modern Arabic. In July 2018, a new law made Hebrew the sole official language of the state of Israel, giving Arabic a "special status".[5]

More than purely a linguistic process, the revival of Hebrew was utilized by Jewish modernization and political movements, led many people to change their names[6] and became a tenet of the ideology associated with settlement and renaming of the land, Zionism[7] and Israeli policy.

The process of Hebrew's return to regular usage is unique; there are no other examples of a natural language without any native speakers subsequently acquiring several million native speakers, and no other examples of a sacred language becoming a national language with millions of native speakers.

The language's revival eventually brought linguistic additions with it. While the initial leaders of the process insisted they were only continuing "from the place where Hebrew's vitality was ended", what was created represented a broader basis of language acceptance; it includes characteristics derived from all periods of Hebrew language, as well as from the non-Hebrew languages used by the long-established European, North African, and Middle Eastern Jewish communities, with Yiddish being predominant.

rather than recognize modern hebrew is a reconstructed language, you decided to claim Palestinians have no culture. erasing culture is part of the process of justifying genocide, so i shouldn't expect any better from a zionist

and this shithead had nothing to say about the calls for generational extermination. absolutely 0 issues with THAT.

none of us expected much from the icj and all of us know israel would never abide by international law even if the ruling was more decisive anyway but really it's so fucking aggravating that these motherfuckers just said "we can't say it's a genocide, but israel has committed several acts that fall under article 2 of the genocide convention, with overwhelming evidence of genocidal intent which we have READ ALOUD IN THIS RULING but yeah let's wait a month from now and see what israel's report is like hopefully they've stopped slaughtering people to extinction or exile by then🤗🥰" and if they don't, which they definitely won't? would it be considered a genocide a month from now, after israel prove to us for the millionth time how little of consequence international law is to them? will you finally say it's a genocide when another couple thousand palestinian children starve to death or get obliterated by airstrikes? if so, what gives? what changed? the genocidal acts, the genocidal intent was there from the beginning and you said it with your own tongues

Rashida Tlaib has set up a petition to send to the White House to recognize and stop the ethnic cleansing and forced displacement happening in Gaza. If you’re a US citizen please sign. I have no illusions that this will change policy, but the public outcry against their actions must continue. We will not be distracted or discouraged from continuing to object to these humans rights violations.
