You get it.

This is exactly what Superman stands for.

Superman was created by two second-generation Jewish immigrants in the 1930s.

He was created to represent Jewish refugees, partially-assimilated immigrants, and orphan refugees. They couldn’t admit it at the time or he would never have been popular.

Whoever Little Light is they understand Superman far more than the majority of people.

Superman is the hardworking Hispanic immigrant who has developed a taste for apple pie.

The Muslim who plays baseball between prayer calls.

Every immigrant who still speaks their own language at home.

This is perfect and I love you for it.

talking about Rosie The Riveter, fun fact: while the We Can Do It picture has become the most-well known depiction of her in modern times, it wasn’t really a famous image when it was made–in fact, it wasn’t even intended to be her

the most famous depiction of Rosie The Riveter during WWII was probably Norman Rockwell’s painting

note what she’s resting her foot on

i fully support anti-fascist/anti-nazi butch lesbian rosie the riveter

Is there a cap on miraculous exposure? Like, if luka unified the mouse and snake and spent a million years looping would he just get worse and worse until he dies/shuts down or would he reach 100% exposure and stop there? (Become a snouse?)

No snouse ! You get to go to limbo until what's left of your soul is consumed by the primordial consciousness.

I love your AU and the miraculous side effects are fascinating. I’ve been wondering about the rabbit though.

It seems like there could be a few different things. Would the wielder just eat a lot of vegetables, would they start randomly time looping, or experience the events of their lives out of order?

If you’re not going to include the rabbit because of the time travel, though, I completely understand and I really hope that I’m not coming off as annoying.

Alix's side effects are rather different from the rest. She's experiencing life outside of time for the most part, which makes her not only prone to mundane things like combining together fashion and slang from various centuries, but also larger issues like being unable to form meaningful interpersonal relationships!

Her emotions are also affected too—Alix does not feel things, really, as her emotions are more of a natural extension of What Must Be Done. If things go haywire she's angry, if things are as they should be she's mildly content (but never really happy), but nothing beyond that. Especially not grief for the life she could've had if only she wasn't destined to turn out this way.

Her experience of life "out of order" is also a side effect that's more self-imposed than any of her peers', but even still it wasn't as if she truly had a say in the matter. She's just a cog in the machine now, not a person. Not a girl.

(actually I personally have some thoughts on how adrien and alix could parallel each other in terms of gender and how they've been forced into identities they didn't ask for. Le Dauphine and L’héritière. so on so forth)

Also Alix cannot date anybody without it being problematic because she's technically millions of years old even though she was born only 16 years ago.

I am personally obsessed with (and relate a lot to) transfemme Adrien hc. You mentioned something with Adrien and Alix being parallels, gender-wise… I’m curious about what you meant by that! Adrien being trans or gnc is by no means necessary (though it would make me very happy), but I’m just curious as to what Adrien’s journey is when it comes to identity. Thanks and I hope you have a lovely day! :D

WIS HERE AGAIN!!! I will admit that that aspect of identity was merely something silu and I threw around, so there's no guarantee that it will be explored aside from like, background flavoring here and there.

What I meant is essentially, Adrien and Alix occupy a sort of middle space, but within that are opposites of each other.

This was born out of a conversation with silu where we discuss like.. transmasc-ish Adrien? He's dealing with the aftereffects of an egomaniac mother who he was born to be the spitting image of. He's thrust into a world of strict beauty standards and forced to perform, must be seen and not heard, obey without question. He's adapted into learned helplessness and 'not thinking' in order to survive, he's born to not act, not want for more. He has no more personhood to his father than a vase of white lilies set on a table.

Alix, on the other hand, is nothing but action. As Adrien is repressed to be demure, Alix is repressed to be stoic—She is the only surviving soldier in a war that never ends, forced to battle in a conflict where nothing ever happens and it must all stay that way. She is treated by others as infallible and is forced to only rely on herself. Alix is fueled by an anger and a grief for the life she wasn't allowed to live, but she isn't able to acknowledge the emotions as such: Alix doesn't have emotions, because emotions are weakness. She denies herself any more personhood that a cog in a machine, never stopping, always acting.

....Of course, I will couch this by saying this is wisteriasymphony's thoughts on the matter. As the lead concept writer, a lot of my little tangents into ideas often go unexplored if not entirely revised over. There were talks of an Alix comic in the works, and this section of Adrien's character being explored in a much later Chloe comic. I can't guarantee anything, because the group and silu have the final and extra-final say respectively.

vv everything said stupider under the cut vv

Alix has a cult???? Please tell me more about this how did she get a cult and why does she have one what is it about please! I'm being tell meeeeeeeee

Imagine, briefly, that you are a medieval villager. You see someone with pink hair and a bright blue bodysuit. It's the strangest thing you or anyone you know ever has or ever will see. You record it in a book in your local church. Now imagine, briefly, that you are a moderately esoteric victorian aristocrat. You notice a recurring theme in rural histories around the world—mentions of a mythological figure with an extremely distinctive appearance. This is huge for you. It's a convergence on par with the universal flood myth. You write a somewhat obscure book about this strange phenomenon.

Finally, imagine, briefly, that you're a folklorist in the mid-late 20th century. You're familiar with the relevant literature on mythic figures. You just so happen to be at the right place and the right time. You catch a glimpse of a woman with bright pink hair in a blue bodysuit before she vanishes in a swirling portal. Everything you thought you knew has been dramatically changed. You start a cult.

"The record for the longest akumatization is currently held by 15-year-old Nathaniel Kurtzberg who was under Hawkmoth's control for an extended 58 hours."

Dear Monsieur Kurtzberg,

We have received your request to return the graphic novel you authored, currently held as evidence in our investigation. Due to its importance in the ongoing effort to identify the individual known as "Hawkmoth," we regret to inform you that we cannot return the novel at this time.

We understand this may cause inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation. The novel will be returned to you once the investigation permits.

Hi there! Because your la terreur AU is on the darker side will you go into the effects of Adrien believing all the parental figures in his life almost/ actually die of unexplained illness? OCD type behaviour, genuine belief in some illogical explanation like the staff are poisoning them or believing he is going to get sick?

Avatar

Well he’s gonna know what happens to Gabriel, eventually. OCD is more Marinette’s speed, Adrien’s more likely to wallow and decide it’s all his fault or leap into Chat Noir for escapism rather than develop obsessions and compulsions related to preventing illness. Whether or not we’ll ever depict this is up in the air.

Is Adrien's inability to partake in the act of creation thing inherent to all Sentimonsrters? Same for the "he can only do sports!" aspects XD

Cos that would put Chloe stealing Marinette's hat design & having someone else make it in a new context. Also turns out she canonically uses the street equivalent of Savate & was good enough to beat Mayura with it so that would also align with the other Senti-kids XD

Though Kagami being able to draw would run contrary to it, so hmmm XD

Avatar

Interesting tidbit about Chloe! She’s already pretty much fully sentient by the time the story starts due to the ‘constantly making choices and demanding they be followed through’ thing she does all the time.

Additionally, the reasons Adrien can’t really do art is because he isn’t quite sentient yet (little ability to deviate from direct instruction, to simplify, to change a thing to make it more interesting to himself personally), his father didn’t build him like that, and also because of the fact that he isn’t practiced at it and thus does not have the fine motor skills but that’s neither here nor there.

Kagami is practiced, and Tomoe got Duusuu to spec her out with as many talents as she thought were relevant or could be capitalized upon. However, her style is as close to direct replication of a subject as skill allows, though she begins to embellish and stylize as the story goes on.
