What is it with Hyrulean Kings and sucking so much? It’s like they get a manual that’s called “How to make your daughter feel bad about who she is and make her feel like her interests don’t matter and her only worth is in her sealing powers”. A lengthy title but an accurate one :P
Sometimes I’m just chilling and I think of this scene and get so emotional. Like damn she was just a teenager trying her best :(
So in one of my not-yet-posted fics, Link interacts with King Rhoam in his old man form. My beta reader read it and was like “wait what does the old man look like?”
So I showed her a pic and she said, “wow, that’s so creepy. It’s like he thought, what can I disguise myself as that looks unsettling and has no authority?”

I actually do think Zelda would forgive her dad and want to mend their relationship. She’s so full of love and so forgiving. I don’t think she’d give it a second thought, she would understand instantly and be sad and mourn what could have been, but not feel anger.
Link, on the other hand? I do not think he would ever forgive Rhoam for how he treated Zelda.
