ik it’s early to lose all hope and for a great story to unveil we’ve got to give it time but the last episode is just disappointing in terms of Buddie (and the Buckleys/Hans parents redemption arc). if they were going through with accelerating Buddie, Eddie would definitely be in buck’s dream, he’s his best friend above all else and they have each other’s backs… why does Ryan get so little screen time it’s frustrating he deserves so much more :(((
I understand you, dear Anon, my first watch, I felt so disappointed at what we were given that I was like, Jesus, this is fast approaching an ending point for me with this show.
But I've watched it several times since then, and in terms of the Buckleys, I literally think this is them falling into old patterns, of Buck getting hurt and they fawn over him for a while then go away again.
Why was it given so much significance in this episode is beyond me. It was a world of what if, and that reality, as Buck says himself is not better.
This Buckley surprise visit was intentional for this arc, but I feel like it's a near miss. Instead of waking up to be supported by the family that sticks with him, we get the Buckley family in the center.
If this was more Bobby and/or Maddie and Chimney centered on their relationship with Buck I wouldn't have been as disappointed, because in terms of core family those three represent it.
Bobby as father, Maddie an older sister and Chimney as older brother/brother in law.
The Buckley parents' presence, in my opinion, was to introduce unnecessary old conflicts later on.
Oliver talked about Buck learning to rely on himself, and he has, his entire life, but I think it's meant more to separate his need to be accepted by his bio family and be happy with what he's got now, who he is now.
It's not that he doesn't need other people it's that his sense of worth will not depend on what others think of him anymore, and I'm looking forward to see how that ptsd will manifest, hoping that Eddie’s part will come in later in the recovery, like Buck stepped in in s5b.
This whole dream state was to accentuate the differences between Buck's chosen family and his bio one, it was unnecessary but it happened.
It's not that Eddie wasn't there. He was there the entire time, but it wasn't about him because he is something beyond family to Buck. And I'm hoping we finally get to see it later on, when both awake and can communicate with each other.
Because it was obvious, seeing Eddie’s reaction was everything! It was so loud. Felt like being in that room was too hard. Think about him, wondering the hospital halls, waiting for Buck to come back to him and make him alive again. 🥺❤️
So I understand where you're coming from, but I'm not ready to lose hope yet. 💜💜
