Being Ash, or Satoshi, depending who you ask, Ketchum was certainly a trainwreck and a half. Saving the world from evil organizations or rampaging godlike Pokémon who wish to destroy humanity for its greed and indefinite idiocy. So, having events where you almost, or actually, die is a rather common occurrence, as sad as it was to say.
But meeting him, a true young man who’s heavenly glow outshined even his, and those amused and kind eyes staring into his own cinnamon-red, and by god that smile could cause fucking supernovas to go off with its intensity.
Ah yes, Ash Ketchum certainly had it bad for Gladion Daraku.
So, when he’s there, watching the man he loves more than anyone else he’s ever known plummet towards the fierce raging waves below; it certainly wasn’t the best sight in the world.
No, scratch that.
It was fucking terrifying.
The look of panic, those twinkling emerald eyes dilating in horror, arms flailing as the wind rushed past those shiny platinum locks.
With the rushing wind, he could barely make out the scar on his lover’s eye; that darkened pink damnable scar that came with saving his life from those rampaging Nidoking. It wasn’t an incident he never forgave himself for, and yet, Gladion saved him.
And goddammit, he was going to save that edgy ass prince!
Yanking on the reigns connected to his Garchomp, Ash leaned forward, cinnamon eyes glowing with an ferocity it hasn’t seen since the orange islands. Yanking ion them again, his voice easily overpowered the howling winds; it wasn’t a shout, it was a damn roar.
“GO!”
The Mach Pokémon roared in understanding, seeing his rider’s mate was in danger after all, and blasted toward the falling teen.
Zipping under him, Ash released the reigns in favor of raising his hands to catch the screaming male, who fell into his awaiting arms, and flinched at suddenly feeling all the momentum he gained stop in an instant. Glancing up, twinkling green eyes still startled and shaken, he met his lover’s gaze and his tense frame instantly relaxed, lying limp in the ravenette’s warm embrace.
Quirking up a smile at the blond, Ash grabbed one of Gladion’s gloved hands and kissed his knuckle, eyeing the boy who’s face slowly turned from a healthy pale complexion to haban berry red. Raising his head back up, Ash smiled softly, “So I caught myself an fallen angel; how fitting.”
Groaning, a playful annoyance in his tone, Gladion pouted, “Really Ash? Now?”
The older, and much more experienced, male merely chuckled and kissed his precious prince on his softened lips, an beaming smile on his face.
Yeah, being Ash Ketchum kinda sucked sometimes, and it made life increasingly dangerous for those close to him.
But he’d be okay.
Gladion would be okay.
They’d make it through; together.
