Ever since the beginning, Stelena didn’t got this single phrase. They never had the simple intimacy of the near-touch, they kissed on the second episode.

"If you ask me, the near-touch is overrated,” Stefan said and he does believe that and that’s what happened to Stelena.

On the same episode, we learn that near touch is not at all overrated when we watch the forever famous delena dance. The dance that can easily symbolize their whole relationship: walking in circles around each other, flirtling with their eyes until they can’t take it anymore, until  in one amazing moment, they give in and touch.

After everything, They’re still on the near-touch part of their relationship.

What it’s amazing is that the very episode that will be the first one which will allow Delena to go out of this near-touch, the episode right after the probable Stelena’s break up- is the episode that parallels 1x19.
