It’s three am and I’m over-analyzing the line in Stars:

Filling the darkness with order and light

Doesn’t Javert naturally see himself as bad bc he came from a criminal background

So what if HE’S the darkness, and stars are symbolic of the Law, and they fill him with redeeming light

AND THEN in Javert’s suicide he talks about the stars being black and cold. He no longer has that redeeming light, no longer can retain the Law that has always been good inside him, and so all that’s left is himself, lost and confused

If that’s not the most heartbreaking thing ever than get out of my face
