RENT fans to cast: “Break a leg!”
Brennin Hunt: ….
Fans: “NO, NOT LIKE THAT!!”
For real though, wishing him a speedy recovery. Even in dress rehearsals he was great.

Rant incoming:
The reason they didn’t have an understudy for Roger in RENT Live last night is because
a) they didn’t think they’d need any for a 2 night performance and
b) How much marketing has pictures of the whole cast or with Brennin in it? They put so much money into marketing this specific cast there was no way they would change Roger at the last second. It would run the risk of alienating the audience before the show really started. The main reason they can do understudies on Broadway is because only a couple hundred people are going to see a different actor on a given show, and the actor maybe back the next day. There was only 1 night for RENT. Brennin doesn’t get to come back and play Roger again when he’s all healed. Point is they put too much money on Brennin to switch him out at the last second.
Understudies make sense for Broadway, but not for one night musical events.
