Itatí Cantoral Vs. Loretta Swit
Propaganda
Itatí Cantoral - (María la del Barrio) - People might not know her name or have seen her show, but they’ve seen the memes.
Loretta Swit - (M*A*S*H) - I started watching MASH last year and was immediately struck by Swit's performance, it's genuinely one of my favorites on TV ever (the episode "The Nurses" is one of my favorites from her). In addition to acting, she's also been a competitor on a lot of game shows, is an animal rights activist, and wrote a book about needlepoint, which is rad.
Additional propaganda below the cut
PLEASE VOTE LORETTA SWIT!!! She’s amazing and such a fully-fleshed out dynamic female character in mash that goes through 11 seasons worth of slow-paced, realistic growth and also she’s gorgeous!!!
M*A*S*H 6.14 “The Merchant of Korea”
I can’t remember where but somewhere, who knows maybe a fever dream, I read that in the very much failed spinoff show W*A*L*T*E*R, it was/was going to be/might have been/would have been confirmed somehow that Hawkeye and Margaret got married? While my shipper heart wants that to be true, im also skeptical cause who the hell knows where i pulled that from. But I am DETERMINED to someday figure it out
I don’t know if I ever told this story on here but apparently when my mom was back in college one of her final exams was scheduled for the evening of the mash finale and a bunch of students complained and threw a fit until finally the professor was like “show of hands: how many of you are planning on skipping my exam to go watch mash?” And like a good 80% raised their hands and the prof was like “…and what if that meant you failed the entire course?” And apparently only a few students put their hands down so the guy had to reschedule the exam. Moral of the story: there’s power in numbers and also mash was and forever will be more important than statistical analysis
I know that like, technically they’re fighting in this scene… but look how patiently he’s listening to her in that first gif and how he makes her smile in the last one. and like, look at how they’re sitting. LOOK. SHE IS PRACTICALLY SITTING ON HIS LAP IF NOT ACTUALLY ON HIS LAP. WHAT IS GOING ON.
Now, have I got the flu or am I just in love? — 2x11, Carry On Hawkeye
I rewatched Comrades in Arms and, lol, do you think the houlihawk shippers in the 70s when it aired were hype when they saw the myriad of shippy tropes used in that episode happening before their very eyes??? ohhh he has to go 8063rd to do a demonstration, he’s gotta take a nurse with him who’s gonna go oh shit it’s margaret, and wouldn’t you know her husband’s cheating on her and whooops the 8063rd is gone. damn there was only one abandoned hut?? she’s bandaging his leg, they’re drinking… this is a fanfiction
Round 1, Week 4: Match 29 of 32
Propaganda as submitted by YOU, in initial entries, tags, and reblogs:
Tom and Jerry:
- Submitted without propaganda :(
M*A*S*H:
- "Over triple the seasons than there actually were in the war, everyone in this show is some degree of goofy, it's the OG found family, it has a snobby British guy who eventually becomes part of the hijinks and everyone's mental health takes a hit at some point. Commercials for the finale were sold at the equivalent of like a million dollars today."
- "Until 2010 it was the most watched television broadcast in America. Also Hawkeye and Margaret should have gotten together and been the best enemies to lovers and that's my only critique"
- "Consider: a medieval court jester but he’s actually a surgeon in the Korean War and he gets up to hijinks"
- "Lasted longer than the war it was about"
- "Funny but also serious. And fatalistic humor that should appeal just as much to a current audience as to the original audience."
- "One character is psychic and it's never explained, and a handful of them are queer (the whole cast is if you're that wild)"
