some people think i learned braille for Cool Points but i actually learned it bc my medicine holder has the days printed in braille and i forget to take my medication a lot. i didnt feel like turning on a light one night just to see my medication so i learned braille out of spite. now everytime i go anywhere i have to read the braille signs and i have seen “woman” misspelled as “noman” SEVERAL times.

What’s rude about this?! Additionally, are people who aren’t blind but still visually impaired just not allowed to learn Braille? It’s a freaking language, and not like those people who want to learn only curse words in sign language and nothing else.

Pretty sure it was originally developed during the Napoleonic Wars so messages could be read in the dark without giving positions away with a light.

Also, Canadian bills have Braille on them so one can tell the denomination by feel whether blind, in the dark, digging through your pocket/purse and not wanting to show what you’ve got in there…

Honestly, that’s like saying you aren’t allowed to learn sign language if you aren’t deaf. The more people can read Braille, the more it will get used. And the more it gets used, the more blind/visually impaired people benefit as well.

I fail to see the issue with win/win.
