When I was younger, I thought I would grow up to teach elementary school. I was already alternative 🖤✨️ at the time, I used to wonder how I would express my dark aesthetic in the classroom.

I've been wearing black lipstick to work (I work in an office as an assistant manager), and every morning, I psych myself out thinking I'm going to get a talking to or passed over for a promotion. But then I'm like... no? Black is no different than bright pink. There's nothing inherently "unprofessional" about my smokey eye and black lips. I dress well, I conduct myself well, and dammit I'm gonna pave the way for other Spooky Bitches who might be too afraid to be themselves at work.
Or just afraid of being themselves period.
When I was 28, I decided that I needed to really be the Goth Queen I wanted to be when I was 12 and this is part of it. If I had seen myself in other women in public or in the workplace, I would have probably felt comfortable sooner. 🖤
