perhaps my most esoteric but very, very passionate spn take is that i truly believe if you haven't watched season 1 supernatural with the original music cues, you have not seen season 1 supernatural.

honorable mentions:

  • highway to hell (pilot)
  • sugar we're going down (bloody mary): technically only plays in the background but really sets peak 2005 mood unlike the song netflix replaced it with which didn't even exist when this ep aired
  • peace of mind (hook man)
  • carry on my wayward son (salvation): first use of this song for the road so far recap

anyway, pirating is always morally correct but, in this particular case, it is NECESSARY to pirate dvd rips of supernatural season one to get the full season one experience.

i love that specific ao3 phenomenon where you get a sudden influx of kudos on a work and it’s clear someone shared your fic but you have no idea who they are or where they shared it. it’s like being a dickensian orphan receiving money from a mysterious benefactor.

So I have a deep appreciation for late night host John Oliver and all he does, but I have an even greater love for one of his running gags.
