There is this guy I like from work (he’s single) we aren’t close, but we get along, he’s very sweet and kind. I rarely see him, but when I do, he always says hi, makes effort to small talk, walks with me So I recently added him on fb with 0 mutuals. He accepted, but didn’t write me a message? I even liked a pic to try to get him to socialize with me, but still nothing. He’s active on fb daily. I saw him again at work yesterday and he gave me a hug this time. Was him liking me all in my head?
Omg, I’ve been in this exact situation mutiple times. I find that every time I have a crush on someone, I question every act of kindness they have towards me, wondering if they are trying to show that they are interested in me as well. I really wish that I knew what to say to this, but I’m afraid that I always get stuck in the same position that you’re in. I’m always waiting for the guy to be the one to make the first move, and my crush on them fades away during that time.
Here’s what I would do (if I wasn’t a socially awkward or an anxious mess when it comes to social interaction): try to start up some bigger conversations and maybe figure out what he enjoys, what his interests are, etc. Maybe there’s a movie you wanna see or an event you wanted to go to. Ask him if he’d like to join you. It will be good for you to try and get to know him and spend time with him outside of the work environment.
I think you and I both need to learn that nobody is going to randomly fall in love with us; we aren’t living in a romantic comedy (as much as I wish we were). As scary as it is, we have to put ourselves out there and try to make an effort to change the circumstances that surround us.
I’m sure that this wasn’t that helpful (I’m sorry, I’m always stuck in the same situation that you are in), but I hope that maybe you find some comfort in knowing that someone out there (me) has literally been in the exact. same. situation. multiple. times. But with that said, if anything happens between you two, good or bad, please let me know because I wanna know how it turns out.
