How come when random strangers in video games tell me to kill myself, uninstall, etc. because I'm deaf, abled people find some way to put it on me?
If someone has a disability, it’s always “get some thick skin” or “just ignore them” or “be the mature one.”
Why do we hold people with disabilities to a higher standard?

A few months ago a girl with hearing aids told me she would kill herself if she had to use a cochlear implant like me because “who could live without music?”

If pity is the only way you can support disabled people, then you need rethink what it means to be an ally and advocate.
