Hearing Trend I hate:
Hearing YouTubers collaborating with d/Deaf people...
But not captioning ANY of their videos. Couldn’t even be bothered to enable YouTube’s auto-captioning system. Big old yikes.
It’s 2019 and companies are still using audism to get views/customers. Meanwhile Texas School for the Deaf Girls basketball went to state final four and finished their record with 33-1. But ya know, “the gift of hearing” makes a better headline.

People who volunteer to caption videos but then put their own commentary in place of actual captions. And then when deaf people complain the volunteers call them “ungrateful” and “self-centered”.
When people tell you that accessibility is an inconvenience for them that is how you know ableism still exists.
Accessibility is not a punishment, it is a strive towards a better world.
Look I don’t like politics and am certainly not a fan of many current candidates, but I just witnessed a girl from my high school get very literally cyber bullied on Facebook because she attended a trump rally. She has never flaunted it in anyone’s face or put down others based on their political views, but she was tagged in a photo and she got completely roasted. Like I don’t like Trump but she doesn’t deserve that. If you disagree, you disagree. No point posting on her wall that she is a “dumb fucking cunt”. Like Jesus people. Like that’s not the way to do it. That’s like me, as a deaf individual, calling a hearing person a stupid cunt because they are being ableist. Almost every hearing person does something that is audist, even with the best intentions. The only way to fight ignorance is with education and discussion. Even if they are closed-minded, verbal attack and (cyber) bullying is not the best answer. End rant sorry. Probably the only politic-related opinion you will ever get out of me.
