okay I forgot that Neil literally asks the other guys to allow Todd to come and make an exception for him with reading out loud because he’s so shy and if that isn’t the cutest thing ever I can’t-
honestly fuck all romance except for whatever the fuck that little shy kid and the dude with severe daddy issues had in Dead Poets Society
Dead Poets Society for the Signs
Details I never realized from watching Dead Poets Society when I was younger:
- “We weren’t a Greek organization” doesn’t refer to a fraternity, it’s actually a gay joke.
- Neil Perry gives a guard dog cookies to shut it up and if that isn’t the purest Neil Perry thing ever I don’t know what is-
- Mr. Keating was a member of the Dead Poets Society in 1942 so he is a wartime teen
- Mr. Keating, when he says “I doubt the present administration would look favourable upon that,” makes an assumption that during his time at Hell-ton, there were teachers who may have supported him in his journey to independent thought as well- hence why he’d actually return to his old boarding school to teach

[turns dead poets society off at the end of a midsummer nights dream] great movie, great ending, loved it
Sometimes I wonder if Todd developed a self destructive behavior in order to continue writing, after the huge success of that poetry collection based on his loss.
Maybe he did. Maybe he lose himself.
But one day someone invited him to a play... A Midsummer Night’s Dream. And then he remembered how magical and exciting it is to make your dreams come true and embrace your passion. Love your art and merge with it.
He didn’t get married. “I’m in love with my writing” he said multiple times. And he meant it, after all, it was in his writing, in between lines, that Neil Perry was timeless.
I’m reading the DPS book and I’m cackling at this scene because I’m just imagining Neil and Todd running through their tests so fast because gay disinterest
ー John Keating, Dead Poets Society
mr perry be like “my son, my poor son!” my brother in christ, you ruined him
You dont understand. When I say, I love dead poets society.
I. love. dead. poets. society.
It literally gives me life <3
Hands down my favorite part of The Dead Poets Society is how absolutely terrified Todd looks throughout the whole thing bc I too look scared to death whenever I am forced to endure face to face social interaction
i don’t know how to use technology but that’s ok bc no one from dps would know how to use a computer either
todd: today's my birthday
