Sofia/Oz ideas that are living rent free today:

  • Batman throws Oz into Arkham and he has to contend with Sofia, who is both *pissed* and been able to take control.
  • Sofia suffers a head injury during her second bout at Arkham and suffers from amnesia. She is released on compassionate grounds into Oz's care as he's the only one she remembers (that's still alive). Oz isn't sure whether she's faking it - or at what point she'll remember how badly he screwed her over.
  • Francis decides to let Rex go through with it and Rex leaves a bleeding Oz at the side of the road - where he is promptly found by child runaway Sofia, struggling with her mother's death. He is enveloped into the Falcone family, merely as a lackey, with the determination to rule Gotham and do whatever it takes to make Sofia happy.
  • Sofia goes with Alberto to the club, which stops Oz from shooting him. They both find allies in each other as they find themselves pushed out, despite their loyalty.

So, I got up super early to watch The Penguin finale and it was insane. I loved every second. So, so good. So fucked up. I loved it.

Also, you know what - I still ship Oz and Sofia.

He could have killed her. Of all the people he's murdered in this series, it wouldn't have taken much. Could have made it look like a mugging or the family of a Hangman victim coming to seek revenge. But he kept her alive. Yes, she's now back in the hellhole that is Arkham with the creepy Doctor Rush. But he could have killed her and he didn't. There's still one thread, one person, who knows exactly who he is.

And I can do a lot with that.

Oz coming to see her, once a week, to gloat. Both of them, surprisingly, finding themselves looking forward to the meetings. Oz needing lessons on how to fit in with the upper echelons and Sofia mocking him as she gives him advice. Oz noticing Doctor Rush being creepy af so he decides to murder him, offering some personal effect to Sofia like a cat bringing in a dead bird. Sofia, rehabilitated once again, on the outside trying to murder Oz and him enjoying the fight. Breaking free of his delusions, hearing I love you from someone who means it (though wishes she didn't). Sleeping with someone else for the first time.

This is giving me end of Hannibal (the novel) vibes (Mischa/Francis) and I have shipped Hannibal and Clarice for years.

Question is - is anyone interested in reading this?

Seriously I've had more ideas this morning. Batman puts Oz in Arkham where he's reunited with Sofia (and they make their escape). Young!Sofia is taken home by Oz one rainy afternoon where she meets his mother and he doesn't care for it - until Sofia bites back.

JFC why am I so inspired by a ship that I don't think anyone will read anymore??

Seriously my brain is living in an AU where they both rule Gotham together and develop feelings despite trying to murder each other countless times. An AU where Oz doesn't leave her behind in 103 and they 'discuss' Alberto while she's chained to the bed. An AU where Oz doesn't shoot Alberto but keeps making moves, whilst Sofia does the same. An AU where Sofia murders her father ten years earlier and asks Oz to help her hide the body.

My ideal (and, granted, shippy) end of the Penguin is Oz and Sofia running the Gotham Underworld together, where they occasionally try to kill each other and have a lot of hate sex.

They split Gotham in half, with a monopoly on crime. Every now and again there is a plot to assassinate the other - they never succeed. But God forbid you try and murder Sofia Gigante. Oz will beat you half to death. Sofia will claim most attempts made against Oz and punish anyone who tries in her stead. She hates the fact that she gets jealous when she hears that Oz is bedding sex workers. Hates that she enjoys when his attention is solely on her.

Vic drives them both places and has experienced both of them fighting and fucking on his back seat. The boy needs a raise.
