The other day I answered the door to my postman. I was signing for stuff, like you do, when my kid came downstairs with only his underwear and a t-shirt on.

Now, the postman couldn’t see him from the front door, and I scribbled my signature and said, to my son, “You need to put some trousers on.”

My postman, very slowly, looked down at his trouser-clad legs with a mixture of confusion and horror, and then looked back up at me.

When I explained I was talking to my little boy out of his line of sight, he gave a very solemn nod and said: “I thought I’d put trousers on this morning, but suddenly when you said that, I really wasn’t sure.” 

Years after this, I still have the same postman. He still always wears trousers, but every time I answer the door, I’m pretty sure we both remember this incident.

Liam - Hip Hop Dancer. OBVIOUSLY! The dude that walks on stage and you’re like oh brother, here we go but he’s actually super good and very precise. Forte is definitely smooth hip hop too, like CAN YOU SAY CONDUCTOR OF THE HOT TAMALE TRAIN WOOOO WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Harry - I actually had to take a moment to just snicker to myself at the thought of him auditioning. but I think he’d be one of those they pass on and they’re not sure why? Like they love him and he’s charming but is he even good at dancing? Or is it just weird? Who knows, but he definitely proves his worth in the competition. I’m definitely thinking something a la Mark Kanemura, so let’s say Jazz for Haz!

Zayn - Hooooo boy, I don’t even need to think of this. Classical ballet dancer. Struggling to loosen up his body. Forget the things he’s been taught since he was a toddler. Silent contender. The judges complain that he’s having trouble connecting to the audience early on but THEN. He gets paired with ~guess who on a hip hop number and fucking KILLS IT. Think Katee and Joshua doing “No Air” in season 3! And while we’re at it let’s also think of  K&J doing “Hometown Glory.” Liam being shown how to do contemporary, how to properly lift Zayn, how to throw himself emotionally into a performance, he POINTS HIS TOES. Zayn spends most of his interview time talking about how he’s really bonded with Liam and how this experience has changed his life and really got him to let go.

Louis - Contemporary dancer with a bit of an attitude problem. He’s SUPER innovative, super creative, usually chooses music that doesn’t fit with your traditional contemporary routine… but they tell him he’s holding back too much. He delivers the same performance and seems defensive about criticisms. HOWEVER. Louis bonds with Mia Michaels who will not put up with his shit. He probably cries talking to her during rehearsals and she doesn’t lighten up but she does tell him that she used to be like him and that if he wants this he has to let all his shit go and be emotionally honest. Louis probably ALSO cries after the dance is over and says he’s never felt so exposed on stage. And Mia tells him that’s exactly what dance needs to be. [cough cough TRAVIS WALL.] [also! Louis looks like a dancer in literally every photo of him I just looked up]

getting a talking to from Mia:

Niall - Latin Ballroom! He’d pull the faces without seeming like a cheeseball, he could get sexy when needed, he could be sensitive when the time calls for it.[My wittle Nouis heart wants to say he and Louis get to do the bench routine that Travis and Heidi did eeeee] LOTS OF SHIMMYING. People wouldn’t know who he was until somewhere around top 6 when suddenly he’s a real contender to win. They would talk about how likeable he is but how they weren’t sure likeability was going to make him stand out. He and Harry get paired up for most of the competition and generally kill everyone with their sickening adorableness.

Dance Direction! Yes! YES. I very much agree with your Harry/Louis/Zayn/Liam ideas, but can I suggest that instead of a Latin Ballroom dancer, Niall is an 80’s street style pop and lock hip hop dancer who infuses humor and theatre into his dances a la best SYTYCD contestant of all time Twitch? He surprises everyone with how well he picks up choreo because he’s never really been trained but gets through to the live shows base A LOT on his charisma and solos because his partner numbers are never AMAZING. BUT THEN he is paired with Quirky Contemporary dance Harry in week 1 and they get LATIN BALLROOM and suddenly Niall COMES ALIVE. His hips! HIS HIPS. They move SO WELL! And he is firey and passionate and Mary comments on his strong upper body and his partnering ability and Nigel tells them that that might have been the best ballroom dance by a non ballroom couple he has ever seen and…..this has gotten away from me a bit…..But Frat Boy Hip Hop Niall who surprises you with his abilities and work ethic and HIPS is what I’m getting at here.

SCREAAAAMMMIIIIINNGGGGGG OH MY GOD i fell over myself trying to reblog this because JUST TODAY i was washing dishes and just froze for a second and stared into space thinking of how i REALLY should have just gone with my first instinct to make Niall a breakdancer GOD why did i change it WHY. and then in the R1 interview today he casually mentioned he can spin on his head and then THIS. but does he just do popping or is he a breaker? or both?! i think both. AND HE TALKS ABOUT HIS KNEE SURGERY AT HIS AUDITION AND HOW HE WASN’T SURE IF HE’D BE ABLE TO DANCE LIKE HE USED TO BUT THIS MEANS SO MUCH TO HIM I’M SO MAD LIKE LOOK AT THIS WAITING IN LINE FOR HIS AUDITION SHIT

JUST PLEASE HOLD BOTH OF MY HANDS AND MEDITATE WITH ME ON DANCER NIALL WITH HIS TWO TONE HAIR AND HIS DENIM VEST AND HIS SKINNY LEGS CHARMING THE PANTS OFF OF EVERY AUDIENCE HE COMES ACROSS AND MAKING MARY MURPHY LAUGH THAT STRANGE LAUGH LIKE I’M IMAGINING HIM KINDA LIKE FIK-SHUN FROM THIS PAST SEASON OH MY GOOOODDDDDDD THANK YOU THANK YOU
