Minho has just released a song, Onew and Key have released new albums before entering the military and Taemin and Jonghyun already have discography.

One of the most well-known and important k-pop groups, SHINee also gives space for members to shine on solo projects.

Debuted in 2008 the five boys already have six albums in the discography, four extended versions, two compilations and five mini-albums, guaranteeing one of the biggest discographies of k-pop.

Even with all the group work, touring and recordings in Korean and Japanese the members find time to devote themselves to some individual project. The first was Taemin in 2014 with the mini album ACE. Later Jonghyun followed the aesthetics of the minimalist cover and the choice of name and released BASE in 2015.

Only in 2018 three of the members released some individual project. The posthumous album Poet | Artist by Jonghyun was released in January. Key’s first solo album FACE was released in November and Onew closed the year with VOICE.

Last member to released a solo project, Minho released the song I’m Home on Thursday (28).

The singer released the song before confirming the enlistment in the South Korean Marine corps, scheduled for April 15. He even held a fan meeting on Saturday (30), which featured a cover of MOVE by Taemin and Key’s One Of Those Nights.

The solos

Taemin

A pioneer in solo projects, Taemin released the mini-album ACE in 2014. With strong and perfect beats for dancing, the singer showed all his personality and even called EXO’s Kai to collaborate on the song Pretty Boy.

Two years later, it was the turn of his first album Press It, which had Press Your Number as single. With the success of the single Taemin released the Japanese version of the song on his first Japanese album.

In 2017, Move grabbed the attention of the Korean media and audience with the release of the second mini-album. The album showed a more sensual and dark side of the singer. The extended version MOVE-ing has gained five new tracks.

The self-titled album TAEMIN was released in late 2018 with the Japanese versions of the singles Drip Drop, Danger and Press Your Number. In early 2019, the musician released the second mini-album, WANT with seven tracks.

Jonghyun

Second member to face the solo projects, the singer released BASE in 2015 following the same aesthetic of the cover and name that Taemin. In the same year he released The Collection “Story Op.1” with sincere and personal lyrics, showing the more sensitive and intimate side of the singer.

In 2016 came the first album She is with a dancing single and colorful visual. Returning to the more personal lyrics, the singer released The Collection “Story Op.2” in 2017 with Lonely as single track, which features the collaboration of Taeyeon, Girls Generation. Is also the most heard song in Spotify.

The last album Poet | Artist was released in January 2018, two months after the singer’s death. In an official statement from SM Entertainment, the agency responsible for SHINee, it was informed that the money raised for the sale of the album would be handed to the mother and the singer’s foundation.

Key

Showing all his versatility and talent, Key released the album FACE in November 2018. On the album, the singer takes care of rap and vocals, as well as impeccable photo and visual music videos. The singer had time to present the album and the extended version I Wanna Be on concerts and South Korean television shows. The project was launched prior to Key’s enlistment on March 4.

Onew

The group’s lead vocalist, the singer released the album VOICE at the same day he enlisted in the military. The mini-album was a gift to shawols, a name given to fans of the group, as a gift before temporarily bidding farewell to the stage.

In South Korea, all men between the ages of 18 and 35 need to enlist in the military and serve 21 months of service. At that time, singers can’t continue with their musical career, performances and appearances on television shows.
