Does it ever get annoying how interviewers continue to bring up Shameless as your “dirty and gritty” role? That’s my job as an actress, to challenge myself and do different things, even though it’s different than what people assume I’m inclined to do. It was exciting for me because it was a challenge to stretch people’s imaginations, and their preconceived notions that I’m a “good girl,” and that I always play very likable, nice characters. And, Shameless and Beautiful Creatures was the start of a new kind of character for me. It’s a little bit edgier, a little bit more indulgent of your dark side.
In school they used to call me Emmy Possum. I prefer Emmy Awesome. I mean, Emmy isn’t that common of a name. My real name is actually Emmanuelle. But I go by Emmy because it’s easy for people to pronounce.

"Shaving half my head was a strong look that meant I could go punkier with my style." - Natalie Dormer for Cosmopolitan Magazine. (December 2014)
I’m an only child, and a lot of the other actors are as well, which I think is interesting because we all kind of bonded together really quickly. I can speak only for myself that not growing up with siblings, I always wanted siblings and I always wanted that mayhem that sort of comes along with a big family. I feel like I really gravitated towards that in this show. - Emmy Rossum talking about the cast of Shameless.

Tyrion Lannister had claimed that most men would rather deny a hard truth than face it, but Jon was done with denials. He was who he was; Jon Snow, bastard and oathbreaker, motherless, friendless, and damned. For the rest of his life - however long that might be - he would be condemned to be an outsider, the silent man standing in the shadows who dares not speak his true name. Wherever he might go throughout the Seven Kingdoms, he would need to live a lie, lest every man's hand be raised against him. But it made no matter, so long as he lived long enough to take his place by his brother's side and help avenge his father.
"You know nothing, Jon Snow." Ygritte twisted like an eel and wrenched away from him. I know one thing. I know that you are wildling to the bone. It was easy to forget that sometimes, when they were laughing together, or kissing. But then one of them would say something, or do something, and he would suddenly be reminded of the wall between their worlds. (Happy birthday to my lovely Emma.)
Some people say that I’m so much prettier on TV, and people come up to me in the airport, and they’re like, ‘You kind of look like Emmy Rossum, but she’s really pretty.’
The songs on [Sentimental Journey] were popularized by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Doris Day, and The Andrews Sisters. How have these artists, and others from the same eras, impacted you as a singer and performer? I love the songs and the lyrics. The lyrics are so beautiful and personal - not watered down. I think there’s a poignancy to that which really influences me. […] As far as the performers go, I love Judy Garland, I love Doris Day, I love Marilyn Monroe. I love everything that comes from that era. The music is just beautiful and powerful - and simple.
From rude fans who call them fat and the horror of 'pasties' to their industry crushes, nothing is off-limits for this year's top contenders in comedy. - Taylor Schilling, Zooey Deschanel, Kaley Cuoco, Edie Falco, Mindy Kaling and Emmy Rossum as The Funny Honeys for The Hollywood Reporter.
I’m most scared when I’m not in control, when I can’t predict the other person’s move, whether it’s an old boyfriend or a family member. The only things you can control are yourself, your own actions, and your decisions. And that’s insanely frustrating sometimes. I used to try to tailor how I would deal with somebody to get the best response out of them. Now I think, “Well, they’re going to take whatever they’re going to take away from the situation no matter how I behave, so I might as well approach the situation honestly and openly.”
What is your favorite insult on the show to date? Oh, god. It’s so funny. Just when I think I have the answer, it is a little different form of the question. To date, my favorite insult is the croissant dildo. I don’t think it’s been matched. Well, you know, they’ve been matched in their own realms, but I just think that’s my favorite. - Anna Chlumsky for Refinery29
I have protected you, fought for you, killed for you... I have loved you. You sold my secrets to the man who killed my father and stole my brother's throne. And you want me to forgive you? Any other man and I would have you executed. But you, I do not want you in my city, dead or alive. Go back you your masters in King's Landing. Collect your pardon, if you can.
