the cathedral is particularly fascinating at twilight when the low sun creates a fascinating play of light and shadow on all the large and small details of the façade. you can just stand in front of it and you will always discover something new.

for years I've seen this butcher's shop with its old signage that defies modernisation. I've never been inside, but I wonder if it's the same inside as it is outside.

sometimes you discover such little quirky corners in your next neighbourhood by chance. all the shops on the left and right are thoroughly renovated and chic, only here is the little ugly but authentic duckling of the old nippes.

eberswalder straße // berlin prenzlauer berg
near mauerpark i came across this curvaceous residential building from the weimar republic. unfortunately, I couldn't find the architect or the year of construction. the way it stands on this site, with all the gaps caused by berlin's 20th-century history surrounding it, it is a more real reflection of old berlin than some over-renovated or reconstructed buildings in the city centre.
