Webtoon's new age rating standards say that a comic can't be rated All Ages if it includes "Fully censored profanity (e.g., #$%^) in a few episodes". Literally more restrictive than 1950s newspaper funnies!

There will come a point where it will make far more sense to just use your own website as a point of distribution rather than relying on algorithmic aggregators that censor and promote art that appeals to the lowest common denominator.

This is already true and was true way before webtoon showed up to profit off of the spaces independent creators built for ourselves! If you'd like to find some comics on their own websites OR some resources for how to go about hosting your own work I post about it at @readwebcomicsgdi ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ here's a small post i made with a helpful resource for getting your work the hell off of webtoon! here's a bigger post someone else made about this sort of thing! we do not have to live like this y'all i am BEGGING

I NEED YALLS HELP

im looking for a webcomic i read in middleschool. heres everything I remember about it:

  • It was a romance, i think about a robot and a human or two robots.
  • i think the main couple were lesbians? (maybe, dont remember)
  • i read it sometime around 2015 or 2016
  • it was on Tapas, but i think it has since been removed (i cant find it on my old account)
  • very round artstyle, almost reminded me of Steven Universe
  • the title was something like "love and robots"? or something along the lines of ___ & ___. thats a big maybe though.
  • i wanna say the main character was a robot with a wider build and no hair. probably.

thats everything i can remember. i havent thought about it in so long and i rly wanna revisit it again. if anyone knows what it was called pls let me know!!

(and also pls reblog so this reaches more ppl and stuff)

“Mel, I am concerned, please not transform into a tree, I–”

I finished reading all the available chapters of @kstipetic‘s Alethia the other day! It’s a compelling, beautifully-illustrated webcomic about a world of robots who have been carrying on long after their Creators have disappeared, and the alien yet strangely familiar societies they maintain. You follow the mystery robot Jun as she wanders her way into different robot cities performing various roles/functions, learns about their core operations, and then attempts to root out inefficiencies.

The character designs and art are fantastic, and every chapter has a self-contained story that is like a weird fairy tale logic puzzle. It sticks in your brain like a grappling thing that refuses to let go. I really recommend this series - it definitely feeds your eyes, brain and sense of wonder.

It’s done! Get it here:

I’ve been working on this story arc since early 2017. It’s become longer than 14 Nights, better written than 14 Nights, and better drawn. I didn’t tackle all the philosophical questions that I’d hoped to with regard to the effect that fiction has on us and my own ambivalent relationship to fiction, but I think that was an impossible goal. I’m extremely proud of this story arc, maybe the proudest I’ve ever been of anything in my life. I hope the ending will satisfy you.

i think one big aspect about isekai that's underdiscussed is that a lot of them are written in what's basically a free-for-all webnovel site for everyone to see

the western equivalent to this would be like ao3 or wattpad but with the capital incentive that the stuff that gets really popular will have comics/animated adaptations years down the line, so the cycle of ripping off from others in more extreme or generic ways accelerates since everyone can see what's getting popular on a daily basis

(there's already that trend about filing off the serial numbers on fanfics and publishing them, but i'm not as caught up on that since it's outside my sphere of interests)

The New Card Game Project has been revealed

DIGIMON LIBERATOR

An online web series based on the card game, with serialization starting in January 2024!

To all who hoped for The Project to be something else, please don't direct your frustration at the Web series itself. The Artists, Writers, etc., surely worked hard on it and are really excited about the reveal, and the decisions of the higher ups and company aren't their fault.

My thoughts under the cut
