AFTER THE FELICIA COMIC THEY'RE DOING A HSIEN-KO SOLO?

I have my personal thoughts based on the blurb we got and what I know about the Udon mythos of Darkstalkers: I think this is a rather interesting development that Udon is giving attention to Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling by proxy. Both have been background characters as far as the Udon mythos has been concerned. In both appearances they have in the comics, they only showed up to fight Street Fighter characters and have never interacted with any of the cast of the Darkstalkers, so this is a chance for them to do stuff in regards to just the world of Darkstalkers in the Udon mythos. From their two appearances, we only know they did change themselves to become jiangshi to hunt Darkstalkers, but that is it. We don't know if they are doing this to save their mom, what their lives were like in the 1700s or really anything. We can't just assume those factors are the case since the Udon mythos has already diverged to do its own thing and alter some aspects of the characters. So likely in the first few pages, we might get something to properly introduce them to the Udon mythos. I am curious to see how they go about this. I am also intrigued to also see how they go about the dialouge of her and Mei-Ling. While they are set to fight a demon, there is likely chance of some downtime before and after. See how they interact with each other in this mythos. As far her abilities and stuff, I don't expect anything crazy, just her moveset and stuff. I could be surprised since they did show Mei-Ling twice doing things to help Hsien-Ko during their fights in the SF vs DS stuff. The art of the covers so far look really good as far as artwork and quality. However, I have some concerns and criticisms. First of all, with these alternate covers….why is there not one with Mei-Ling? The Morrigan and Felicia covers all had covers that focused on the main character, characters related to them, or characters that appear in the story. Are we to assume that those two will appear in the Hsien-Ko one shot? Or, is it because they have no faith in Hsien-Ko on her own, so just have them there to bolster sales potentially because of look, sexy popular characters. Baiting basically? Now, I have sagely been pointed out how those comics did also have bride covers as well, so if that is a chance to see Mei-Ling with Hsien-Ko, than I will take it. Maybe Hsien-Ko will be given an interesting Chinese inspired dress. Maybe both will be in dresses? Who knows. My biggest problem with this is the demon they will fight. This Nurse Noir. Really? These old, undead, mystical Chinese warriors are given a chance in the spotlight and they just make some uninspired, generic demon shadow nurse to be their enemy in this story? Not some mythological monster or unique monster due to the nature of this world. Just some sex appeal bait? Fucking really? This doesn't give me any good first impressions about the creativity on board for this story at all. We will have to see. Maybe the art, dialogue, and lore stuff they do with the sisters might be cool, but I am not at all happy with this fucking Nurse thing. Jesus fuck man…..

yeah I love felicia but, like, she doesn't have an excuse here when her solo ended with her staying put lmao, why not keep it focused

or if it's supposed to be the ''spooky'' alt because of halloween why not add the spookier darkstalkers characters like lord raptor who at least somewhat has a connection to hsien-ko (and who I wouldn't be surprised shows up in the comic like BB/Jon in felicia's) and could make for a more bombastic cover

It's very unlikely the storyline they're building up with these solos is going to end here, so they probably could've just waited until if/when they were relevant again

even with the nurse cover being a parallel to the cover of Morrigan fighting Jon (since Felicia didn't really get an actiony cover), yeah the art's good, but I feel like it's just going to lead to another udon original character that doesn't really stand out

so apparently the "lead to" was Jedah coming back, but as their midnight bliss form for some reason, and it's ANOTHER STREET FIGHTER CROSSOVER

I understand that's the main comic that they work on, and capcom crosses over all the time, but seems weird to market it as "team darkstalkers"

I'm looking through some Udon books (comic company) and it just kinda embarrassing. The interior art is kinda meh and the covers either have to be fanservicy or reference something to catch your eyes.

Thats not even mentioning the characterization of the street fighter & darkstalker cast. I'm pretty sure they make most of their money off of their translated manga

There should be a requirement...like a long, intensive standardized test...that's like...if you know less than 80 percentile of the lore you are FORBIDDEN by law from working at udon

Here’s the first piece that I submitted for UDON’s Capcom art book.

An illustration I did back in February for UDON’s Capcom Fighting Tribute. Might give it proper coloring in the future.  Sadly, this didn’t get in. I procrastinated and ended up half assed. Maybe next time!

My submission for the #SFvsDScomic fan art challenge. I can’t believe I actually finished it in time, just last night I had already given up. Here’s hoping it gets picked.
