The Kamala Harris campaign kicked out a prominent Muslim Democrat from the vice president’s rally in Royal Oak on Monday, further driving a wedge between the Democratic Party and Arab and Muslim Americans.

Ahmed Ghanim, a Democrat, says he accepted an invitation to the event and was seated in the Royal Oak Music Theatre when a campaign organizer ordered him to leave.

“She took me to the door, and she closed it, and I found two police officers waiting there, and she said, ‘You have to leave right now,’” Ghanim tells Metro Times. “I asked why she was kicking me out. She wouldn’t answer. I was very calmly asking why I was being kicked out.”

He continues, “I was just wearing a suit and a white shirt. I said, ‘OK,’ and I left. The police officer said, ‘You either leave now or I’ll put you in the back of my car.’”

Ghanim, who immigrated to the U.S. from Egypt in 2001 and is vehemently opposed to U.S. support for Israel’s military actions, says he still has been given no reason why he was removed from the event.

In a statement late Monday afternoon, the Harris campaign didn’t say why Ghanim was removed but said he’s welcome at future events. “The campaign was swiftly informed by Emgage Action of yesterday’s incident and looked into it,” the statement reads, referring to a Muslim American advocacy group. “Our campaign regrets this action and its impact on Dr. Ghanim and the community, and he is welcome at future events. We value our relationship with the Muslim American community and are committed to ensuring all community and political spaces are welcoming and respectful to every American.”

The campaign statement sure looks like ass-covering and doesn't explain anything. Great work, Harris.

I did 30 seconds of searching and found photos of the man who was kicked out posing with Hillary Clinton after interviewing her in 2011.

This is the same man pictured in the linked story (same face and name).

You can't tell me he's a firey radical or any shred of an excuse.

What the fuck is the Harris campaign even trying to to do?

Also are those people forgetting that in the past when a genocide/war has occurred we weren't living in an era where common people basically live half of their lives online...... saying that a "real Palestinian wouldnt have time to ebeg on tumblr" is like saying "oh a real hamas combatant wouldnt have time to make tiktoks in the middle of a war zone" like are those fake too lmao

"Guys i cant believe that the first war to be heavily documented on social media by those affected would heavily involve social media"

A pretty strange aspect of the current accelerated genocide in Ghazzah is the simultaneous terror and boredom. Because there's literally fucking nothing to do when society has collapsed and all infrastructure has been destroyed. This is why there's plenty of videos of people sitting together and singing, or going to the beach to hang out, or coming up with activities for the kids in refugee camps to lift their moods.

Not that any of this matters to anyone who's already scrutinizing genocide survivors to this extent. If you can, with full confidence, already decide you know more than Palestinians about Palestinians, and go far enough to dehumanize us, accuse all the Ghazzans on tumblr of being scams or fake because they do things you wouldn't do or speak in a way you're not familiar, you have dehumanized us completely. You do not see us as people and you're not looking to empathize, sympathize, or try to understand the circumstances of Ghazzawiyeh and that they're just doing their best to deal with them.

Something to also know is that this isn't new. In all the past wars in Gaza, it was known among Palestinians that israelis target art centers and music centers and places where you can do recreational activities specifically to make Ghazzawi miserable and bored. This is something I knew and talked about since 2021 with actual Palestinian artists. So the idea that enforced boredom in part of the psychological warfare is actually not unique to this recent phase of the genocide but it's been incredibly exacerbated.

Today is october 7th officially marking 365 days, 1 year, of the most well recorded genocide in history; of an occupation of a people which has been ongoing for 76 years. An entire year of constant israeli bombardment. Hundreds of thousands killed and missing. All the while, the people with the most power to stop the genocide continue to support and defend the politicians carrying out the slaughter.

Yet, it is also a year since the Palestinian resistance definitively proved to the world that israel is not only not the all-knowing state entity many believed nor that they were invincible or undefeatable. Over the course of the year, the resistance and its allies in Lebanon and Yemen have handed out defeats to not just israel but the west lead by the united states as well proving that those institutions and militaries are not invincible.

In israel itself, tens of thousands of bsuinesses are closing or have closed; its ports are under blockade; the settlers are fighting amongst themselves or leaving; it is a settler colony beginning to buckle under the simultaneousforces of its internal contradictions and of the Palestinian resistance. No doubt the struggle for liberation and against settler colonialism will continue until all the contradictions are resolved just as it were it rhodesia and south africa.

May we see a free Palestine in our lifetimes.

Here is a short list of Palestinians who have recently reached out to me for support. Please help them if you can.

they'll fund a genocide and let their poor regions be destroyed. don't fucking forgive them for that.

my hometown is completely gone from what pictures i can find of it, i have not heard from my family (including aunts, uncles, parents, one sibling, and a grandparent), and the infrastructure in the mountain communities is wiped out. i cannot stress how catastrophic this is, or how difficult it will be for these communities to build back. i am angry, and scared, and heartbroken by everything that's happened.

and our government is spending it's money to fund a genocide.

free palestine, and don't be complicit. realize that this is not something happening that doesn't affect you--although it shouldn't take this to care about the deaths of thousands of people anyway.

The bravest people in the world after Palestinians are the Lebanese people.

Displaced Lebanese people saying they would gladly die if it gives Palestinian people some peace from genocide, while Ghazzawiyeh talk about how guilty and sad they feel because their genocide is the reason Lebanon is in this situation.

I am so incredibly saddened and so incredibly proud to be part of two ever-courageous and compassionate sister-peoples.

The bravest people in the world.

The occupation cannot defeat this.

They fucking bombed Lebanon again. People were at a funeral for people killed yesterday. Uniquely evil.

I was confused thinking I must be reading reports over yesterdays act of terror. No they just bombed Lebanon again. Everyone injured and killed labeled Hezbollah by western media. Even if that were true, members of Hezbollah hold seats in places of Lebanon government.

People in the United States really don’t view people they see as Muslim and Arab as humans. So many people cheer for this senseless violence

The killing of Ismail Haniyeh (Allah Yerhama) is so pointless, because it doesn't weaken Hamas. Haniyeh was responsible for the hostage negotiations that the Yanks have been boasting about being at the ending stages, but every potential ceasefire deal has now been thrown out of the window because of this stunt. If anything, this proves that the Zionists do not give single shit about the hostages.

So I read this article by a Gazan journalist, Rasha Abou Jalal, who wrote about how Palestinians overwhelmingly want Kamala Harris to win the election. Now look, I know that Harris has received money from AIPAC, repeated many of Israel’s lies, and is not as sympathetic to Palestinians as we would like, to put it very mildly. I know that being “better than Trump” is an EXTREMELY low bar and we should and will continue to demand better from our representatives. But I do believe she has been better on this issue than Biden in her push for a ceasefire, and if this is what Palestinians believe is the best move, then I say we listen to them, especially since they are the ones who will have to face the consequences of the next administration’s foreign policies. I firmly believe that the best way we can help Palestinians right now is keeping Trump out of office and far away from any power over them. Not to mention the plethora of other issues that Harris is better than Trump on. (And hey, if it helps you stomach it any better, just think how fucking funny it’ll be for Hillary Clinton to have to watch another woman become the first female president lmao)

Exclusive footage obtained by Al-Jazeera showed Israeli special forces using an aid truck and a civilian car to carry out the operation. A US special “hostage cell” played a crucial role in the rescue of four Israeli captives, the American news website Axios reported on Saturday, citing a US administration official. Meanwhile, exclusive footage obtained by Al-Jazeera showed Israeli special forces using an aid truck and a civilian car to carry out the operation. The images depict civilian cars escorted by Israeli military tanks penetrating the western areas of the Nuseirat camp, amid a series of unprecedented air raids targeting the camp and various central Gaza Strip areas, resulting in over 200 Palestinian deaths and dozens of injuries so far. The Popular Resistance Committees in Gaza issued a statement, condemning the “horrific massacre committed by the zionist enemy through its planes, warships, tanks, and special forces in the Nuseirat camp”. “The massacre in the Nusseirat camp clearly and unequivocally reveals and confirms the participation of American enemy forces stationed on the floating dock in killing and slaughtering our people,” the statement continued adding that this happened “despite the criminal American administration’s assertion that this dock’s purpose is solely to pump humanitarian aid”.

Daily reminder that Among Us devs got into more trouble for breaking Geneva conventions by using a red cross symbol in their game than the IDF did for disguising troops as aid organisations to maximise the amount of civilians they can gun down

Holy shit. The Israeli whistleblower story CNN just broke is insane. I cannot believe what I’m reading

Rare firsthand accounts by Israeli whistleblowers cast light on the horrific conditions in the Sde Teiman torture camp in Naqab Desert. Palestinians are stripped down, blindfolded, forced in diapers, and forbidden from speaking. They are subjected to beatings and mental degradation regularly. So much depravity that has gone unseen. Doctors performing procedures outside of their expertise, amputations due to zip-typing of abductees’ wrists, having large dogs unleashed on them at night. Being fed food through straws. I can’t believe it. I am truly in shock. And this is just one whistleblower accounting of this. Who knows what else is happening beyond our knowledge

My heart is breaking into a million pieces

Worth mentioning that multiple Palestinians have recounted these stories before, as direct victims detailing their experiences. What's unique about these accounts from CNN Israeli whistle-blower is that they're from an Israeli, therefore people are more likely to take this seriously.
