JOURNEY TO THE LAND OF DREAMS 🌟
Gingerbrave: Dark enchantress cookie and the cookies of darkness are planning something, something BIG. We have to be prepared.
The COD:
Last minute comic studio stuff.
Wildberry and Crunchy Chip basically adopted Gingerbrave at this point don't change my mind.
“Oh Gingerbrave….you’ll be a great hier.”

I feel like the fandom and me included underestimate Gingerbrave a bit.
I feel like some of us underestimate him as the ‘generic main character’ and don’t really see what Devsis sees in him.
And sure we can make memes about his CrOB face or his ‘we’re all friends here!’ Type, but maybe we’re looking at him the wrong way?
As much as Gingerbrave is a little bit plain and generic, we have to remember that this guy was basically just…born? Like just born and he already escaped the most traumatic thing in his life and is still running and smiling like nothing happened.
In fact there’s a possibility that he still is traumatized by the fact Witches eat Cookies, honestly if he wasn’t accidentally made by the Witches, he would’ve ended up like Alchemist, Vampire or Purple Yam, who seem oblivious about the Witch’s true nature. (Except for Purple Yam, since poor guy was constantly rebaked)
In the kingdom’s canon, we hear that Strawberry Cookie woke up from the heat, yet Gingerbrave does know her, so basically he thought all the cookies there were possibly inanimate. So for all we knew, Gingerbrave yelled for both Wizard and Strawberry to wake up and they either separated or didn’t wake up. And for all he knew in that brief moment in separation, Wizard and Strawberry were dead, eaten by the Witch.
The trauma still continues when we see his wiki description canon or not. Gingerbrave does act like this.
And sure enough, when his friends are in danger, when the Vanilla Kingdom was in danger, when the Raisin Village was in danger, When the Dark Cacao Kingdom was in danger, when even the CREME REPUBLIC was in danger, he is willing to go apeshit on DE just because he doesn’t want to see cookies suffer or crumble. HE DOESNT WANT COOKIES TO FEEL THE SAME SENSE OF DANGER HE FELT.
Gingerbrave is even willing to LIE to DE about the Witches and their true nature because Custard Cookie III asked, Wizard and Strawberry didn’t even say a thing when he said that so basically they were all going to lie to DE about it because they know it will shatter the minds of many cookies. They want to protect cookies from the horrible truth cause knowing the horrible truth will cause cookies to be as scared as them.
And Gingerbrave’s whole explanation to DE, he wants to make a world where all cookies can be friends, much like Pure Vanilla. He wants the world to be SAFE and HAPPY. I feel like he doesn’t say this just because the world is in danger of becoming one with the darkness, but safe from the Witches, he wants his escape to have positive effects on everyone plus him.
This guy is only the happy-go-lucky character because he is the character who experienced that his OWN CREATOR was gonna eat him the moment he was BORN. Jesus- I feel like that’s why he didn’t tell the truth about DE in the Council Either, both Gingerbrave and Pure Vanilla were silent about White Lily as well. Gingerbrave probably thought Pure Vanilla already told them but by discovering that he didn’t.
He revealed it to Clotted Cream…
For all we know from the Council Meeting on Day 2 to Day 3 or even when he first meets Hollyberry and Dark Cacao, he’s been holding in the truth that White Lily is DE, something he’s done before with the Witches, he told Clotted Cream but at first he hesitated.
Gingerbrave hesitates here…as if contemplating whether or not the Truth is necessary for Clotted Cream to know, yet he has been bottling the truth ever since he got here, so he tells it to Clotted Cream, which he probably tests if telling the truth would lead to positive effects, except before Pure Vanilla reveals the truth, Clotted Cream uses it as an advantage…just by this, I don’t think Gingerbrave would tell them about the Witches at all, sure it ended up ok, but after Clotted Cream and the whole Mille-Fuille (How do you spell?) and was probably informed on who took the Soul Jam, and with basically Clotted Cream spouting out every last detail for reports, I’d say we aint seeing Gingerbrave telling the truth no more.
And even before this scene we forget that before that he was telling how he couldn’t believe Clotted Cream would propose to share the Soul Jam, even though he understood, his tone sounded like he was scolding Clotted Cream, rewatch the scene and listen to his tone. Even though in the end he understands Clotted Cream, he explains to him the Ancients’ side as well, and that didn’t really turn out well. Still this is one of the rare times we see Gingerbrave this serious about something, or sound this serious.
In this very scene, he also blames himself for being so weak.
Notice the use of ‘I’ “If only I were a little stronger”
“I could protect my friends against Dark Enchantress Cookie…”
That’s a lot of responsibility and guilt for a CHILD. This guilt and personality mirrors Pure Vanilla, except Gingerbrave sorta resonates more with Hollyberry.
Wanting to protect her friends by shielding them from dangers? Hollyberry herself wouldn’t give her Soul Jam because she doesn’t want her family to bear the weight she carried, this resonates with Gingerbrave as Hollyberry is much like Pure Vanilla, except for the ‘Oblivious Cinnamon Roll’ type.
Much like Hollyberry, Gingerbrave wants to focus on the present, yet once it’s serious, change the future, Gingerbrave wants to shield people from the serious threats for even just a short moment just to see them smile, just to see them safe.
He isn’t that one-dimensional character, he actually has more than we think.
Gingerbrave loves and protects his friends, and maybe the Witches have a cause to this seemingly One-Dimensional character thing, and Pure Vanilla knows it.
I’ve seen people say it literally makes no sense for Pure Vanilla to send Gingerbrave on a mission and probably he was a guise for Black Raisin Cookie, but I feel like in a way, he can see through that.
He can see he is much like him in a sense and much like Holly, wanting to keep everything and everyone in a good mood and wanting to protect everyone despite it breaking the good mood, he knows that Gingerbrave can be serious if he can, dude will literally go apeshit if one of his friends are in danger, like telling them to be careful or when a hound steals a crown, he’s willing to chase that crown till the end of Earthbread or when the whole world is at stake, he’s not willing to keep this happy-go-lucky state and is willing to charge ahead into danger once he realizes people he loves and cares for ARE in danger and he won’t back down, he keeps getting beaten up thrown and possibly turned into pulp, but he still DOESNT back down, he will DIE if it means that his friends are safe, he will die before they do, he will risk everything about himself if they are in danger.
That’s why his name is ‘Gingerbrave’ or ‘Brave Cookie’ in the Korean version, because despite his trauma and the fact that he is scared, he is determined to stand his ground and face dangers that his friends are even scared of, Gingerbrave is completely ordinary, but his determination and desire to shield everyone makes him different.
And that’s probably why Devsis basically worships him and puts him everywhere, they KNOW this character more, he was their first big success, he was something they cherished and they WROTE him, the CREATED him,Cookie Run wouldn’t have even existed without Gingerbrave at all, which is why even though Devsis knows they are writing him off as seemingly One-Dimensional, there is something in there that knows Gingerbrave is more than that.
Gingerbrave who may I remind you is a mere minor, possibly ranging by the age of 12, is willing to protect all his friends and those he loves from any harm necessary, he is the Pure Vanilla personality we all want, he is more than the cookie who escaped the oven.
He is a cookie who went through the most traumatic thing in his life, but is willing to pull a smile just so everyone else could be happy, in a way, he used his experience with the Witches to boost him and save the world so that his friends could live and finally have a happy and peaceful home. He is willing to lie, he is willing to die and he is willing to survive just so that he can protect everyone he loves and cares. In a way, he is positive reinforcement for all the characters here.
We can see at times, Hollyberry can reach even the lowest of the low, but Gingerbrave in a sense, even in the darkest of moments even if the Creme Republic, who statistically is as strong as they say, was attacked by the most powerful might we ever see of DE, he still smiles and he still tells everyone that their future can be bright if they fight for that happy ending, that they can indeed stop Dark Enchantress Cookie.
In a way, I get why Dark Enchantress has tension with Gingerbrave in Ovenbreak, and I feel like if we ever get a relationship chart in Kingdom, we’d see the same tension.
Because Gingerbrave in a way, IS like Dark Enchantress Cookie.
Gingerbrave is the only one who truly understands her. Understands what she had gone through, understands her pain and understands what she’s dealing with.
Strawberry and Wizard are more than willing to run the other direction or face it through their own means, heck we don’t even know if both of them wants to be in this mission or not, but Gingerbrave does, he wants to help cookies, and it’s clearly what he understands in DE
White Lily did indeed desired to help cookies with her research, which is why Dark Cacao’s medical field is solely inspired by her or her magical research in Yogurt Academy exists. And in a way, she does still want to help, but forcing them into the grim reality that is our Creators Eat us.
Gingerbrave does the opposite of that, instead of bringing the darkness he wants to bring hope and light so that he can see people safe, if DE really wants to help cookies by using Darkness, what good is there if there are no cookies to protect?
That’s why he wants to stop Dark Enchantress Cookie, he doesn’t want to defeat her, he wants to STOP her, because he knows what and who she really is, he saw her story he knows how she feels, he’s more of the empath of the group and he is the best possible chance of convincing DE to stop…
Gingerbrave is the opposite side of the same coin DE’s on. And he is the best shot they have.
