The funniest thing to me when I post anything about The Batman (2022) is that my brain is so entrenched in the (honestly I think somewhat rarepair) Bruce/Martinez ship that I just...forget other people don't ship it? Like, any post I make about Bruce and Martinez's interactions is 100% made with the lens of I think they're dating. They are Gotham's weirdest couple and they act like it in ways that mystify and confuse everyone around them. And it just straight up does not occur to me most of the time that other people don't view their relationship that way
I just rewatched The Ritual (again) and I NEED to talk about Luke's line when he and Hutch are talking about the camp the first night and Hutch mentions staying on to hike a bit more after they're done with the trail.
"No, I think this is enough for me."
Because it's important to keep the overall broader thematic context of the movie in mind. It's an exploration of grief and loss and trauma, and the way those things affect us and our relationships. It's about figuring out how to move on from something you can never really recover from.

Luke is the character through which we see this journey. He's irrevocably changed by a random act of tragic violence and we watch him struggle with survivors guilt and trying to continue forward after what he's been through.

We eventually see him get there. We see him make the active choice to keep moving forward, to move on, to live. We see him actively fight to stay alive. But that's the end of his arc. The culmination of his development. So what does that say about where he started? What does that say about his will to live at the beginning of his arc? At the time Hutch is trying to get him to agree to future plans?

I am! My friend suggested Survive the Night earlier this year and I LOVED it, so I've been going through his other books slowly but steadily lol. I really want to read his newest one but my library doesn't have it yet and I'm not willing to pay $30 yet to get it at my local bookstore 😅 I'm guessing you're a fan too?
Okay so I rewatched The Mummy Returns for the first time in a long time and first of all I forgot how absolutely balls to the wall insane that movie is. Absolutely buck fucking wild. Love it. Second of all, Alex and Lock Nah's interactions on the train made this image materialize in my mind and you CANNOT convince me Alex didn't do this at least once
i actually kinda like it when a character getting better includes them becoming weirder and less polite and more confusing and strange. no more "domestication" i wanna see the weird guy be weird!!!
For as much as he’d gained a reputation for being strict and perfectionistic, Arthur was surprisingly willing to put up with people’s shit when he had to.
“Come on, darling, how many years have I known you? You always have a plan, and at least four contingencies beyond that. Hell, you have contingencies for your contingencies.” Eames laughed quietly, trying to ignore the pit in his stomach. “Just curious what your plan is from here.”

Just so that I can make sure you're alright." Arthur gave another nod, weaker than his last one. The bruise on his temple was already starting to darken- that must have been a fresher one. "What the hell happened, darling?"

“Just ask.” Arthur’s voice was quiet, and the tightness was more prominent. “I can feel you watching me.”
Eames hesitated. Things like this usually stayed unspoken, even in their line of work. The timeline matched up though. “Was Huang your handiwork?”

“Busy day today, so I figured I’d do some records review before things got out of hand.” Eames turned in his chair, looking up at Saito with a raised eyebrow. “Two admissions in one day- I’m starting to think you’re trying to punish me for being a pain in your ass recently.”

@inception30daychallenge Day 31: A letter to the Inception fandom.
Dear Inception fandom,
It's been a wild year. A busy year. A lot of things happened for me- I moved, I finished my degree, I got a job, I got covid, I passed my licensure exam. I had so much to do and so much that still needed to be done and I often didn't have a lot of time to engage in my hobbies. Through it all, though, you were there. I had fun metas to read and beautiful art to look at and messages on the discord to distract myself with when things were stressful. I've gotten to meet new faces and hear new ideas and even though I didn't have a lot of time to engage on a fandom level, the community was still there. Over a decade in and this community isn't just still present, it's thriving. Whether you're actively posting or just watching from the sidelines, whether you've been here for a decade or just joined last week, this community is still here and growing and thriving and I love it. I love the enthusiasm. I love the creativity. I love the kindness and support. I love Inception, and the people who love it with me.
Keep it up, y'all. You're amazing.

@inception30daychallenge Day 30: If the characters were all in a band, what instruments/roles would they play?
Dom: band manager. Has gotten a lot more distracted and a lot less reliable since his divorce. Is looking for someone to replace the role of lead singer.
Mal: used to be the lead singer until she and Dom had a falling out, ultimately resulting in divorce.
Ariadne: new singer brought in to try and be the lead.
Arthur: drums. Rhythmic, methodical, always precisely on time and keeping the rest of the band on track, and fueled by a barely contained rage.
Eames: lead guitar. Flamboyant and loves putting on a show, but also highly talented and able to absolutely disappear into a song when he needs to.
Yusuf: bass. Do I really need to say more?
Saito: owner of a record label that really wants to pick up the band but they need to get their shit together first, and also find a new lead singer. Gets somewhat unwillingly roped into helping them get their shit together.
