Because that would be too easy and the writers love to do dumb stuff in the name of harming one of the team or physically hurting/endangering their loved one(s) to emotionally mess them up ✨for the drama✨. If they had Hotch show Haley a picture of the reaper, they would have to find a different way to put her in danger and make Hotch cry ✨for the drama✨ and they Didn't Feel Like It.
