Ive noticed recently that my generation has... no concept of what the various economic classes actually are anymore. I talk to my friends and they genuinely say things like "at least i can afford a middle class lifestyle with this job because i dont need a roommate for my one bedroom apartment" and its like... oughh

You guys, middle class doesnt mean "a stable enough rented roof over your head," it means "a house you bought, a nice car or two, the ability to support a family, and take days off and vacations every year with income to spare for retirement savings and rainy days." If all you have is a rented apartment without a roommate and a used car, you're lower class. That's lower class.

And i cant help but wonder if this is why you get kids on tumblr lumping in doctors and actors into their "eat the rich" rhetoric: economic amnesia has blinded you to what the class divides actually are. The real middle class lifestyle has become so unattainable within a system that relies upon its existence that theyve convinced you that those who can still reach it are the elites while your extreme couponing to afford your groceries is the new normal.

Morons think that women’s spaces exist because we are inferior, and not because WOMEN ARE HARASSED BY MEN SO CONSISTENTLY THAT WE NEED A BREAK just to exist in some peace a quiet once in a while.

Nobody is arguing that women are “biologically inferior” at any non-strength based games. However, it has been documented time and time again that women perform worse at cognitive games like chess and video games due to negative stereotypes around women doing these activities, which is exacerbated when 1. the performance is done immediately after questions about gender and sex are asked and 2. when they are competing against a member of a non-stereotyped class.

This is basic psychology. Your cognitive load increases and you are less likely to take risks when you feel you are in an inferior position. Taking risks and having a clear mind are essential to performing well in these games. Undermining women’s leagues that allow women to develop confidence in their skills in a protected group is going to cause mass amounts of them to give up as their performance spirals down. Every time you lose to a non-stereotyped class, this phenomenon grows stronger.

Also, the stereotype that trans women love chess and video games and computer programming is something that people within the community are proud of. They are coming in with a higher confidence level.

It’s ridiculous to undermine decades of work to promote equality in sports and games of all types.

I wasn't surprised at all learning about this data. I know it's anecdotal but I have first hand experience throughout my adolescence doing "worse" at activities like gaming when men are around vs when I'm alone or only with other women. Even then I usually held up decently well but it was still frustrating knowing I was never hitting my peak and seemed worse because of it :/

it has been well established forever that gaming spaces are extremely hostile to women. We deserve our own spaces. To act like it is insane ask or we are admitting we are inferior is cruel as fuck. Most women who play video games with others have faced gendered harassment. All the while we are denied acknowledgement it is a problem, blaming us, or calling us sensitive. And when we want our own leagues, people who say they’re progressive attack us. In relation to gaming specifically this pretending not to know the problem angers me so much.

History is full of women who had to give their dreams up to be mothers and housewives. History is full of real women who could of very well been at the top of their field who were instead forced to be mothers. Unlike babies who's path and skillset cannot be determined, there have been multiple talented teenage girls and women forced to be mothers.

This argument is just like every other argument against abortion. It proves that, once again, abortion is really about oppressing women.

There’s not enough informed, willing, adult women on the planet to consensually meet the demand for sex and womb rentals. As long as the demand exists and outweighs the supply- trafficking, abuse, financial exploitation, coercion and rape will continue to be necessary to fulfill these requests.

The only ethical thing to do is to stop making the requests. Stop normalizing the demand for these “services”. Stop creating the expectation that for-pay wombs and vaginas are always readily available for your use. STOP.
