I'm thinking about Matt going to Elektra's grave after "Defenders" again. She's not there. It's not even a symbolic place of eternal rest and peace anymore. Not after what the Hand did.
Because Elektra was at peace. She stayed true to herself and went down on her own terms. She died saving Matt and with her final breath expressed how at least now the Hand can't use her anymore. They lose, she wins - even if the cost is her life.
But then her sacrifice is taken away from her, they dig her up and drag her out of her grave, change her body and mind, manipulate her, control her, make her into a weapon without conscience, memory or her own free will. They had already taken her life, now they strip her of everything that made her Elektra.
And when she finally breaks the Hand's control over her, Matt immediately loses her again. Except this time everything is different. How can he grieve someone when there's no proof she's dead? When there's no body, no grave, nothing. When he can't really talk about it because because to everyone else Elektra was a villain? When the only other person who understood Elektra is dead, too?
It's not fair, it's not right. But he can't change it.

an homage to daredevil season 3 + a bit of a 90s anime look ✧・゚
