Well the people who make your favorite cartoons, anime, and animated shows and movies are fighting for the future of this industry. We are facing a lot of challenges right now job creep, low wages, the ever looming threat of artists being replaced by AI to create worse animation for the sake of generating content to make lots of money for very rich people while real human artists live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to pay rent and feed their families…

Senators are going to vote on whether or not we should continue to send aid to Israel on Wednesday, November 13th. Call them, bombard their phone lines with calls. Every fucking day. We have a chance of doing something about this.

answering a couple questions i got on this post since i realized ppl genuinely wanna know:

tl;dr:

the post linked above has examples of how donating to individual families can help a lot. if you want to help more than one family at a time, there are many gazan-led initiatives focusing on rebuilding their infrastructure and distributing aid fairly that are worth donating to instead of large charities that already get the majority of donations.

as i mentioned in the last post: @/careforgaza on twitter is a nonprofit started by gazans, it's been endorsed by multiple palestinian journalists.

the sameer project is a collective organized by diaspora palestinians offering emergency shelter to gazans.

ele elna elak is a project aiming to bring water, food, shelter, etc. to gazans and has been promoted by bisan owda.

and the municipality of gaza itself is fundraising to rebuild water infrastructure.

all of these organizations are active inside gaza right now and are being run by gazans. if anyone knows of other gazan-led mutual aid projects, nonprofits or charities feel free to link them in the notes! hope this helped!

every day i think about tim drake being an international art thief wanted by interpol in the rr comics and i think about the sheer volume of comedy that could potentially have

ok but wouldn’t it be hilarious if one day the FBI are knocking on the door to Wayne manor saying “we know who you are come out with your hands up!”

and everyone’s like “oh no they know our identities” but then the FBI’s all like

“We know who you are Tim drake! We know you’re the international Art theif, Alvin Draper!

and everyone just looks at Tim with shock

the amount of comedy possible is endless

Ok but I feel that having stolen art is very much a common thing among the upper class. It’s very common to see in fics how the Drake’s stole artifacts or art pieces to bring back home.

So I think that Tim knows exactly how to act to get the FBI to look the other way.

What follows is even more mind boggling to the bats as Tim manages to sweet talk his way out of being arrested and the FBI even leaves with a friendly wave goodbye.

i just felt stuck.

did you know a single swedish krona is 0.094 cents in usd? that's less than a hundredth of a cent. my friends yousef and mona are fundraising using krona, and they set their goal to kr200,000. two hundred thousand seems like a big number, but they aren't asking for too much at all, even though they would be justified to. kr200,000 is $18,711 in USD. that's a much smaller number. i'm sure many of you know that the price to evacuate an adult from gaza to egypt is $5k usd. evacuating a child costs a little bit less, but on top of saving up to evacuate, they have to pay for their baby son's childcare items, as well as medical care for his skin infection. mona is suffering inflammation in her lungs from the cold, and will need an operation as soon as possible. she cannot sleep through the night because she coughs and it hurts her lungs. at the time of writing this, november 3rd 2024 at 5:16pm US central standard time, their campaign has kr57,027. a little more than a 1/4 of their goal. it is $5,335.16 in usd. enough to evacuate one person. they're going to need more than that. please help them however you can.
