I honestly love the way they wrote Lucy’s scenes this episode and the way Arielle Kebbel played them

We the audience know that there’s no real romantic interest or tension between Buck and Lucy. We see Lucy tell Jonah that she was pretty drunk at the bar and seem a little embarrassed about it, and more importantly, they’ve interacted normally as coworkers the whole season. No intense lingering moments, not even really any awkward tension in their scenes when they interact, they just treat each other like friends.

But that’s cemented by the way this plays out. When Taylor comes up to her, Lucy is absolutely unbothered. She even says she’s heard a lot about Taylor, so we know she knows Taylor is Buck’s girlfriend, but she doesn’t seem at all nervous or on edge. If she had romantic feelings for Buck, she’d be as on edge as Taylor is, having a conversation with her rival for Buck’s affections, but she’s hilariously chill. “Did you want a comment?” was great. And after the conversation, Lucy going “well, she’s a peach” very much seems to center the attention of the scene on how inappropriate Taylor’s behavior was, and how intense she was during an interaction where Lucy was not on the same level of emotional intensity.

Anyway I didn’t much like Lucy at the beginning but the utterly savage nonchalance of “Do you want a comment?” is exactly what TayKay deserves
