I DONT WANT TO LEAVE THE SOUTH!!!! THIS IS MY HOME!!!
I want things to get better here instead of having to leave it behind to be safe!! I literally live in North Carolina i KNOW about the bathroom bills, i KNOW i PROMISE YOU.
Queer people who look down on the south and refuse to acknowledge that there are queer people here infuriate me. The south is not just Bigotry World tm! There are poc here!! There are trans people here! There are queer people and disabled people and tons of other people who deserve your love and support!
Don’t forget about us please.
It's always baffled me that people assume abandoning the victims of oppressive laws is like, the more virtuous option.
Who do you think those bathroom laws are targeting? Who do you think that racism is targeting?
These policies are not just vague evils sent out into the aether for some good vs evil spiritual battle. There are real people in those states who are being specifically targeted for heightened systemic abuse.
We are here! We've always been here! We will continue to be here! In some cases, we have no choice to leave or we have deliberately chosen to stay! I became a teacher for the geeks and the gays here in NC because I didn't see anyone like me as an adult growing up. Change is happening, constant, and just because you can't see it from 100+ miles away doesn't mean it's invisible.

- if you call someone to witness and they refused to show up, you are legally entitled to stand outside their house and scream, but only every third day
- you can sell your son into slavery once or twice, but after the third time he doesn’t have to put up with that shit anymore

- also you can only have ONE funeral per person, don’t get greedy
- if your neighbor’s tree has a branch hanging into your yard, you can legally cut down the entire fucking tree

they are indeed real! they’re from the twelve tables, a roman law text so old that it’s hard for even people who are well-versed in latin to read by the text is archaic (also half of it is missing but whatever)
while we’re on the subject, here are some more good ones that i forgot to put in:
- the penalty for writing a song slandering someone (it’s very specific on the song bit) is getting clubbed to death
- if you hurt someone (or if you just sort of inconvenience them) through magic arts, the penalty for that is also death
- however if you maim someone’s limb through normal limb-maiming processes you just sort of have to figure things out between yourselves
- if there’s a road right next to your property, feel free to build a fence around it to prevent people from driving into it, but if you don’t build your own fence then tough shit
- if you waste all your money you can legally be prevented from wasting even more of your money
- if you’re a woman and you live with a man for a year, that technically makes you married, unless you spend three successive nights at somewhere other than his house, in which case you’re not married i guess

People do not talk enough about how amazing Lae'zels voice acting is. Devora Wilde put her whole ass pussy into some of those lines but nobody pays attention and calls laezel one note and angry. But have you listened? Have you heard her voice shake as she cries "what good - this heart of stone - for it to be shattered?" Have you heard the conviction where she declares that Vlaketh has sinned against her? Have you listened to the fear in her voice, the slight tremble when she is talking of becoming a mindflayer and the way that she has utter awe in her tones when she experiences something that is truly spiritual to her? Like. It's such a subtle and great performance.
